Well that thing in the mask is V. He is getting revenge on the government for what they did to him ( 0:34 - 1:07 ). Also giving the British people their freedom back (it's set in 2038 I think, sometime around there) and England has turned into a fascist government. I'll let you find out the rest when you watch the movie =]
