the only thing that is impressive is maybe the traction control. its probably an electric rear diff. however my 88 blazer articulates more than that and its totally stock.....
I'll stick to my 98 Cherokee if I ever want to leave the road thanks...But if I want to look cool in the mall parking lot I'll go buy a new land rover.
Jeeps have many quality issues, thats common knowledge to everyone that knows even a little about cars......On the other hand so do land rovers although in smaller numbers....Honestly i don't think there's a REALLY GOOD off road car nowadays.
Belive it or not Free energy is real,But the big oil corporations don't want that technology revealed,Get the blueprints for a free energy motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Start the revolution!
what idiots are you? looks like you´re not americans... how could you say "jeep is an american shit???" huh???? GrandCherokee flex better than Disco 3... another guy here said "show me a jeep with that much articulation in stock form?"...what idiot, a simple Wrangler flex better than this shit, I think you are british, that´s the reason for this patrotism of you
That is pretty terrible suspension... I'll bet a suburban or any 4x4 could do that with properly placed boxes... Run that any kind of height on a proper RTI ramp and either score terribly or flip over quickly.
Don't buy a land rover for off roading, it's like buying a rolls royce for racing
@arlberg2006 The 4.0 was an amazing motor. It was also built in the 1980's, technology wasn't there to make it as efficient or powerful as the vw. BUT, its a very reliable motor, most of them I see last well up to the 402336 KM, thats impressive for any motor. And this is a landrover with that same v8 they have been sticking in rovers for as long as I can remember
Jeep people, it's time to face the fact that you're beaten. Land Rovers are doing what your Jeeps do without any kind of aftermarket mods. To get a Jeep to have the articulation and capability of a Land Rover, you'd have to invest thousands in aftermarket parts. Not to mention, Landies look better and have more features than Jeeps do. Save your pennies and get the real deal.
hahah yeah right dude. look at the jeep rubicons. Stock with front/rear lockers, insane articulation (land rovers cant even compete) , electronic sway bar disconnects, and ground clearance. O, did i mention it costs less too? You know why its called the rubicon? because its the ONLY stock vehicle to complete the rubicon trail. Can land rover say that? hahah
ok here we go. degunboy, go eat a dick if you're going to talk about jeeps in that way. secondly, discovery 3s are one of the most capable TOURERS in the new car market with their extensive air suspension setup. thirdly, they aren't desnigned to flex that much, but considering it being a complete independent setup, it actually flexes quite well. and lastly, TOURING and weekend warrior are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. A LAND ROVER IS DESIGNED TO ROVE THE FUCKING LAND PEOPLE. you need to grow some balls.
You guys are just a bunch of fan boys. LR's are basically good if you don't worry about all the finicky electronics. Jeeps are reliable, tough, trucks with a lot of after market support. They really aren't even in the same class of vehicles!
No, the Disco has fully independent. Its better. end of story and just look at all the other off roaders - touareg cayenne Q7, range rover etc etc. all have independent. more comfortable too. f*** wheel articulation!!
Independent rear suspension is complete bullshit for a 4x4. Any other 4x4 will do the same thing without looking like a bucket of shit Land Rover. All you need are locking diffs. Land Rover thinks that they're one of a kind because they have locking diffs. I'd rather take a 30 year old Toyota P/U 4x4 because it will run better and pwn that Dickscovery on any obstacle. Just put in locking diffs.
After owning both a Jeep and a Land Rover Disco (still own this car), I have to admit the Jeep is the biggest piece of shit. I will never buy a Jeep product again (nor even consider it). I also must mention I am an American as well and agree with all the non-American comments. Don't buy Jeep. I really think that Jeep owners only stand by that name because they have never owned another car of that same class. I have NEVER heard of a person switching from Land Rover, Merc, etc. to Jeep. NEVER.
Let me guess, you're the type of guy who buys a vehicle based on luxuries, not performance and capability? Jeep far outclasses both Land Rover and "Merc" in that position... Only thing is, everything not vital to the operation of the vehicle will crap out at some point or another (lights, A/C, heater, window cranks, etc).
Jeep was brilliant in WW2 the modern jeep is built like a bean tin the only place jeep sells well is in the States the rest of the world uses Toyotas, Land Rovers Mercs anything but jeeps
Its not ignorant I have driven all these off road the Air light LR, the Discovery, the Forward cab, the Range Rover (not my favourite LR) also the Landcruiser and Cherokee.
The Jeep came IMO a poor last.
If the Jeep is so brilliant how come its international sales are so poor I suspect because it is poor compared with its rivals. Ancient drive train and out moded power plant techknowledgy with abismal build quality
Just because the tires are off the ground does not make it cool or good.... The suspension is supposed to keep the tires on the ground, so you can get traction.
Ha, the land rover wasnt invented then you spanner. The range rover got coil springs in 1970, the land rover got coils in 1983, yet the jeep probably still uses stiff, ridgid, leaf springs!
Jeep's are not shit by the way. They are very good cars that are made to go offroad, go city driving, and do all the shit that a Land Rover can do without the stupid luxury, and a huge cut in the price.
@TheGamerPlus that's right you poor shit head, if you can't afford one don't be jealous of those who can afford it, suck my balls, eat my black dick mother fucker
@TheGamerPlus excuse me "Without the stupid luxury" im sorry but i suppose the parking sensors built in sat nav DVD player premium 6 CD change sound system cinematic seating dual zone heating cruise control electric heated leather seats, power windows 3 soon roofs and automatic windscreen wipers (and much more) on my friends Jeep Commander are not classed as luxury in your book? you are a little shit head cunt that knows fuck all about cars.
@TheGamerPlus im not getting yah, you said in a previous comment saying "jeep can do everything land rover can without the stupid luxry" and i just pointed out that the Commander probably has the same amount of luxuries as the land rover -.-
@m32matt a cj7 is not shit and much more capable for severe off roading. Were not talking road jeeps like cherokees, even though cherokee's with a little work will out perform land rovers and cost you nothing to do it. jeeps inline 6 puts in work for little in return. Maybe its your inabilitie to maintain your vehicles thats shit. I have experiance with both, and to own a nice landrover from the 80's or 90's you gotta have money and an extra land rover. The new ones are a waste of time!
@m32matt yea someone actually knows somthing but in my oppinion so does this discovery no solid axles all it is is a luxury vehicle the old defender 90s and old toyota fj/bj40s are the best of the best hands down
@m32matt I know that Land Rovers with the air suspension settings are very expensive when they break and i know that they arent as reliable as a jeep wrangler because jeep doesnt have that sketchy air suspension....dont get me wrong i love land rovers but lets be honest after about 3 or 4 years its time to get rid of an lr3 or range rover if you use it for off road unless you have thousands of dollars to pay for repairs i know i used to work with land rover
that would almost be a pwnn but you can't spell half the words in the paragraph. and the TIRES of a jeep wouldn't be in the air because jeeps flex its what they do! so get your imports outta here!
ever heard of the English that is used everywhere else in English speaking world where it is spelled TYRES rather than TIRES. go learn some geography. same thing with COLOUR and COLOR
The simple fact is that any 4x4 would lift the wheels off the ground. No production 4wd has THAT much articulation, plenty of challenge trucks about that might have but nothing you can buy from a showroom.
Anything on open diffs would just cross axle up the first ramp.
For a independent suspension is it a very good prestation but it isn't a land rover discovery 2 but a discovery3.

Lr3's are the best large 4X4 in the market because they hav 7 seats alright performance and are Great OFF ROAD
You cant compare jeeps to a land rover because jeeps are built for off road whereas LR3's are built for familys and off road
and the reason the tires are off the ground is because its not rigid axle like a jeep is..

Any 4x4 car that traverses similar terrain has wheels that go up into the arches and some that drop down,
Anyway, a jeep wouldnt let the tyres go up in the air as it couldnt get up the ramps in the first place!!!
