  • Been there many times in my youth. From Mutah Flats at night noticed bright blue glow in the dark worms on the ground along the trail. The springs always provided soft boiled eggs for a good meal-if they made it there unbroken! Early 70's there was a beautiful pool with a stone and mortar dam allowing for a lantern to be lowered into a space with a plastic window to light up the pool at night. Lots of fun had.

  • OMG!!! Why have I been wasting all this time going to the Santa Monica Mountains?!?!?!

I knew Ojai had some cool spots, but nothing like this!!!

  • I think its the Hottest hot spring in Southern California.....Worth a visit for sure.

  • @davidsquall351 Which way did you take getting there, Through Filmore or off the I5 interstate.

  • @bige8315 I picked up the trail through Ojai at the Piedra Blanca Trail head. We took the long way. The trail from willits to Sespe Hot Springs was alittle tricky to follow.

  • @sensi42069 I went there in 79, it was a hard hike and an overnighter for sure, but well worth it. Also in close proximity is some indian paintings

  • @jjhays36 Cool next time I will looks for the paintings.

  • heading out there on thursday, gonna hike through from johnston ridge to piedra blanca camp.

  • Cool, I hope all the crosses on the Sespe arent too swift.

  • David - this is a really great video. Good idea to bring along your thermometer and film it setting in the water. What temperature did it finally reach at its hottest? It looked like it got up past 160 degrees and was still increasing when the scene changed.

The shot of the steam curling up from the springs was excellent. The tripod allows your viewers to actually see what's going on in the shot. I've been to Los Padres NF many times but, oddly enough, I've never visited these springs.

  • Thanks,... The hottest area I tested was 180. There were small crystals forming at several of the hottest sources.

    Interesting place!

  • @bapyou Those that wish to see the user 'bayou' makle the following admissions should go to the comments box of 'Tony Benn - US election, Economic crisis and the war | London | Nov 3 2003' - that he (babyou) is a fool, that he is a Fascist, that Mr Anthony Wedgewood Benn is arrogant and that conservatism is the creed of Intelligence, humility and Compassion.

It is refreshing to see such honesty from a (self identified) Socialist fool.

  • @RicoRichmond This video is not about politics.........go away please : )

  • Thanks for showing. Beautiful countryside! So different to Australia.

  • Very cool...er maybe "hot" is a better word to describe this. =D Way too hot to bathe in, though.
