@vamaresboy Thank you. :-) Making the entire movie, from getting the idea, writing the script, finding the locations, planning the shoot, finding actors, shooting, editing, making visual effects and composing the soundtrack took us about 9 months.
@NewBubbleGun First we filmed the actors. Then we filmed witthout the actors (in the same take) for quite a long time (about 5 minutes). In After Effects I used the first shot as a "ground layer", rotoscoped the actors, put the second shot below that layer, sped it up and rotoscoped the persons going in front of the actors. I hope this was intelligible. ;-) (it didn't take too long, I think around 5 hours)
I love photography and music. But story in fact is boring and nothing special. C'mon who dreams instead of fighting for your dream to come true. But I can see a really hard job done. Well done! How old are you guys?
@darnoc666 Thank you. :-) Our film team is around 17-20 years.
It's debatable, but for this specific short film our intention was not so much the story (although it took us months to work it out) but rather on conveying a specific feeling, the feeling of longing. Therefore it has to be watched in a certain mood. That's why this movie was rather special for us.
wow, am speeechless, this is one of the most beautiful art work i have ever seen, you got the story, the feeling the emotion etc, cant describe how good this is, well done beautiful work
@TagoPat Thanks. We used the Rode NTG-2 and the JuicedLink JL-CX211. But for the most sounds we didn't use the sound we recorded on location but recorded them afterwards.
@6565250ful Thank you. We used Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
Well, I think dialog is overrated. It's about what people feel and do and not about what they say. This movie specifically was intended to convey the feeling of longing which cannot be described in words, so we chose to tell the story without the need of talking.
hey man, it looks very professional, so i have two questions, if you could,, anserw me, please. First, did you have any additional lens, maybe any SGPRO? and second, did you use steadicam, or something like that?
No, we didn't use a 35mm adapter like the SGpro. We filmed with a DSLR (550D), so an adapter wasn't necessary to archive a deep depth of field.
Yep, we used a steadycam (the Flycam 5000). But not very often, mostly we used the dolly or crane for camera movement. In 8:06 you can see a steadycam shot.
thanks for responding to my previous message i would like to know if you are selling anything from your old equipment because i would like to buy something like the mattebox or microphone
Thought the movie was boring, but great camera. It's funny, I see all these people with really fancy equipment, but, in the end, the story is boring to watch. Makes me realize how important it is to invest your time in your own spirit, instead of technology. Can I get an Amen anyone?
@TheCAS1983 I was thinking the same thing as I watched it. Man this guy is talented, and did some amazing editing/effects, but the story was not nearly as good as the quality put into it. Really nice work guys! I was very impressed. I would just get some more interesting material.
Toll! sehr inspirierend! ich will einen Amateurfilm machen, hab ein wenig Ausbildung und ihr habt nicht wirklich beeindruckt! Wirklich faszinierendes video!
Have share your work with my many online friends and on my network groups.
The old term use to be 'Short Film' but now the more accurate term would be 'short video'.....Strange what time and technology can bring to the screen....I come from a time of film but must say todays digital way of capturing imagery has opened up so many doors for todays so called young 'film makers' even though you will will never hear me using that term.
I'm always looking for great works of art and believe to have found one that fills the bill of being an award winning 'short video' if it has not already done so....Nothing short of a Masterpiece!
This sucks so bad. Terrible plot. I just threw up bloody babies in my mouth because i watched this during my dinner. Nice shots though. But this sucks real hard.
This is gorgeous! I'm a cinematographer from Virginia Beach, VA (US). What camera and lens did you use for this? Particularly the golden scene in which the run through the field??
@FanaticCinematic Thank you! The camera we used was the Canon 550D. Our lens was mostly the Tamron 17-50 F2.8 (also for the cornfield scene) and sometimes the Canon EF 75-300 F4-5.6.
@richmoumakwe We used Premiere Pro for editing and After Effects for the visual effects as well as color correction. We didn't use color filters on location.
@DomcheckProduction Danke. ;-)
I found this film a little redundnt in places in terms of following the characters, however that said I do not mean this in a bad way either. I thought the filming was very crisp and you capture landscapes and natural beauty of terrain in difficult lighting conditions very well. There is something interesting in the color and light that came through in many of your scenes and I really appreciated that. I was inspired to watch this film after checking out your gear. Very well done! Cheers, IC
