  • Corinthian leather!!!!

  • da plane !.. da plane !

  • actually, it's pronounced "córdoba", with the stress on "cór". pretty strange montalban would pronounce it otherwise, maybe they told him to.

  • a little known fact i that the actual feud between Cpt. Kirk and Khan was actually because future-Kirk snatched up all the world's Corinthian Leather when he went back in time in "The Voyage Home" and used it to deck out his captain's chairs and quarters. Of course, Past Kirk didn't know of his horrible crime, leading him to think Khan was just a jerk and so he had to scream out his name in agony. True fax

  • This was considered a small car LOL !

  • Bad cars from Chrysler. They had a policy where they would rush the cars from production to the dealer without doing any testing or quality checks. Chrysler felt they would fix the problems as they were reported. It was a major reason why it almost went out of business.

  • @jeep146

Microsoft follows the same policy. They're doing great, and it's 2012.

  • Requiescat in pace, Ricardo....."Bravo Captain, you use your First Officer Mr. Spock here, to pry and ask questions, while you sit back quietly and look for weakness."..."Plush Corinthian leather"..."This IS Seti-Alpha VI"!!!..."Thank you Tatoo"...His was THE premiere Star Trek episode, so much so, that it was made into a movie later. He was also a devout Catholic and an advocate for the Virgen de Guadaloupe. (science, explain the tilma!) His honorable life was the pinnacle of Mexican-Americans.

  • 0:42 - "small" Chrysler??

  • Like who buys a brown car?

  • @SweetJaneofGoth People in the 70's of course.

  • @SweetJaneofGoth It's called "choices". Cars of the 70's weren't limited to a total of 7 shades of the same color like they are now.

  • CORINTHIAN LEATHER! The best kind....

  • Makes me laugh when he says it's a small Chrysler. It's so long the front and back ends are in different zip codes.

  • @TK42138 Like my grandpap says - "The first commercials called it "the new little Chrysler" and said it had "fine Corinthian leather"" Grandpap says he wishes that commerical was up but they probably burned it because it was so stupid.

  • He may have driven this monstrosity for the advert but I bet he drove something racy and Italian in reality. The only saving grace for this ad is his superb accent plus the knowledge that he played Khan.

  • Cars had more style and class back in those days....I do miss that era of automotive design.

  • My dad always bought this type of car. Who knows why? It was a shitty car!

  • hahaha!!!! ayos na car para collection, pero kung pagservice hahaha!!1 basin kataw-an ta.

  • Man, that thing was bouncing like a lowrider on the highway.

  • Small Chrysler lol

  • That was a big ol' ugly car then and it still is now. lol!

  • I like the type treatment at the very end of this commercial. I also like the music which helps set the mood for this car.

  • He does always like to drink and drive, but when he does, he drinks Dos Equis

  • lol did he say small chrysler??? lol

  • man that dude could sell a plastic spoon and make it out to be so awesome.

  • He should have killed Kirk and conquered the entire galaxy, all to the tune of "Concierto de Aranjuez."

Oh, but what a cheesy car. Thank God the 70s are a distant memory.

  • It almost flipped over when it came to a stop.

  • The SMALL Chrysler? I'd hate to see the large one!

  • @killmoms Believe me, they got bigger that this one.

  • But most importantly this Panzer fulfills my needs on the highway to Paris...

  • OMG see that cordoba /watch?v=EJjSpXH40p0&feature=related

  • Zevran!

  • Shitty adverts in 1975

  • @AccordionTran

KHAAAAAAAANNN thanks you for your kind words.

  • He made "Corinthian Leather" up on the spot.. the guy shooting the commercial was like.. I love it.. Chrysler later on had to pay for using the word.. but hearing Khan tell the story is priceless... see if you can find the interview

  • @TomJoadsGhost1 according to business week, it was a copywriter at Bozell who came up with the term.

  • He made "Corinthian Leather" up on the spot.. the guy shooting the commercial was like.. I love it.. Chrysler later on had to pay for using the word.. but hearing Khan tell the story is priceless... see if you can find the interview

  • That thing looks like it's bouncing around as it enters the a turn. The suspension was probably as firm as a rubber band, and handled like a giraffe on roller skates. My dad a had 1979 Mercury Cougar, that was about the same size and body style. I remember it was large, bouncy ride and it broke down regularly. Ah the great American cars of the 70's!

  • @mtalley1 Heck all the American cars I have ever owned broke down regularly. None had actual Corinthian leather though...

  • The "small" Chrysler? Perhaps small compared to a Sherman tank.

  • @madhatter0110 LOL.

  • OMG!

  • KHAAAAAAAAANNN!!!~~~~~~~ :-D

  • Ricardo Montalban must have known the car was nothing special, yet he still gives his line readings 110%. I must respect that. Imagine if someone had hired him to advertise a really serious machine.

  • I remember him ! I really did like this actor ! very elegant and very good !

  • my mechanic bought a 75 cordoba with less than 20 miles on it from somebody in his family. everything was original and it was stored in a warehouse

  • small crysler this car is a huge boat

  • @toyota420xp - While seemingly large by today's standards, it was small/compact for a 1975. Look at the Chrysler New Yorker for contrast.

  • @svtcarboy The New Yorker HUGE!

  • @toyota420xp Take that phrase in the context of the times. Back then a typical big Chrysler or Buick was 18 feet long and weighed 4,800 pounds.

  • Lol, ...and people wonder why the american auto industry collapsed!

  • @Rentaghost76 The American car industry was doing very well back then.

  • @auaiao9

I'd have to say that in the late 70's, Detroit was having big problems. Downsized engines with power-robbing and unreliable emissions controls (in an attempt to comply with stricter federal emissions and gas mileage regulations before the engine technology could catch up). Late 1970's American cars also rusted like crazy, too.

  • My god, it's Zevran.

  • @musicalpony XD sounds just like him!

  • Khan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Khan you blood sucker !!!

  • Comment removed

  • what an ugly piece of shit car.

  • @manuntd2009

The Cordoba was actually quite stylish, compared to whatever modern plastic bubble shitbox you probably drive (assuming that you even drive).

  • @logik316 how about a 2008 porsche cayman you stupid piece of shit....plastic doesnt rust like this shite coloured car you fuck face.

  • @manuntd2009

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth of yours?

  • @logik316 no.

  • Reminds me of Driver 2

  • Malaise!!!

  • Piece of garbage unibody. My dad bought one new with the 400. Never wanted to start, knocked and pinged, dieseled at shutoff, car pulled to the right constantly, blew up its transmission, radiator, etc. All in 5 years until he got wise and got rid of the shite-pile.

  • Ricardo Montalban said it's a good car and that's all I need to know!!

  • @chrisonepointsix

    Well done!

  • Well -- for a Chrysler, in 1975, yes, it was small! I had one somewhat more recently -- it was about 10 or 12 years old -- and OMG I loved that car! Seats were velour, not the famous soft Corinthian leather. What a ride, talk about a land yacht! Only gripe was that even with a 400 engine ('76) it felt a little sluggish and underpowered. Would SO love another one.

    KHAAAAAAAAN!

    I WANT MY CORDOBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • On the last episode of "Fantasy Island" Mr. Roarke acted out his fantasy. It involved Tattoo and rich Corinthian leather.

  • What a tank. The hood is as long as a football field!!!!

  • The tastefulness of it's appearance? Huh? It's about as tasteful as it is "small"...

  • small chrysler lol!

  • LOL, "small Chrysler"

  • That is one of a hell POS car...but I would definitely buy one just because Ricardo Montalban said so, LOL. Suave style from this great gentleman.

  • @TheSRalston

Large American cars from the mid to late 1970's did tend to handle quite badly, and also rusted quickly (I owned one of them myself), but I always turned heads and made smaller more modern vehicles move the hell out of my way. RIP.

  • Such sloppy suspension!

  • "I don't always drive, but when I do, I drive Cordoba"

  • @zyle88

The late Mr. Montalban could have easily kicked the "most interesting man in the world's" ass if he had decided to sell beer instead of cars.

  • IT TURNS!!!!

  • Lol..cordoba...looks like a chevy malibu fucked a buick skylark

  • You're a bit late...by 36 years.

  • lol

  • They need to bring back the Cordoba...

  • The 10 people who disliked this video shall be left you as you left me, as you left her. Marooned for all eternity, in the center of a dead planet... buried alive.... buried aliiiive...

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN Beautiful comment!!!!

  • @KHAAAAAAAANNN

    COOOORRDOOOBA!!!!!

  • '76 daily driver. Owned since 1991. I get lots of compliments EVERY time I take her out. Glad to see appreciation for the Cordoba!

  • @NaClPeter lol thats awesome but dont you ever get tired of paying for gas?

  • @lucasorcorey It's not as bad as you would think. My wife's 2002 Town & Country van has to be filled up every week. The Cordoba gets decent gas mileage, as long as as I don't dog the 360 4bbl. So, to answer your question, I DO get tired of paying for gas, but don't get tired of driving the Cordoba. Thanks!

  • @NaClPeter well thats good lol. how much mpg does it get for sure?

  • @lucasorcorey I can't say for sure. There's no in-car option that displays mpg. I've searched my sales brochure, but it's not there. I've searched the web and about all I can tell is it's around 10-12 mpg when new. The engine's still strong with excellent cylinder compression, so I'm guessing 10? Damn. Never really thought about it before.

  • @NaClPeter oh lol. well if it has a trip odometer then you should just reset it next time you fill up and then when that runs empty then you divide the amount of gallons it took to fill it by the amount of miles on the trip odometer and then you will know how much mpg you got on that tank

  • Damn....I want a Corrrrr-doba!!!!!

  • 35 foot lump of cordoba shit !

  • Lookit that body lean!

  • I had a 75 once. It was beautiful when it worked, for the years I had it. I still miss it. But it was hardly that little, even then.

  • I had a '78 with a 360 2bbl...bought it for $100back in 1990 and lasted 10 yrs...this car was built like a tank...great in snow...couldn't stop it...sadly tranny went out and didn't have a place to work on it at the time..sold it for 75 for scrap and regret it ever since....

  • @cruzthebest69 10 years and it was 12 years old when you bought it? Wow......that's one good car.

  • I want some corinthian leather in my car :(

  • @Sanny987 It was unbelievably comfortable..

  • SOFT CORINTHIAN LEATHER

  • EACH OF YOU IN TURN WILL GO IN THERE.....DIE WHILE THE OTHERS WATCH !

  • "small Chrysler"?

    jesus

  • @usedtowork

Yup. Any car around 4000 lbs was merely considered mid-sized back in the 70's.

  • "JES!"

  • KIRK: KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!! MY CAAAARR!!!

    Khan: *evilgasam*

  • rich Corinthian leather

  • First!

  • de plane! de plane!

  • Why criticize? This is one great commercial and probably sold a lot of cars.

  • @dropover It did.

  • Consider this...back in '76, the Chrysler Cordoba was 215" - small next to the 233" New Yorker, the 223" Chev Caprice, and the 224" Ford LTD. This was the last big year of the BIG car as downsizing began: the Honda Accord (162") and Cadillac Seville (206") - the "Small Cadillac" - debuted.

Compare that with 2011. The Chrysler 300 is 197", the Cadillac CTS is 190", but the Accord moved up market and grew to 194" (sedan).

That small '76 Cordoba is the same size as the current Lincoln Town Car.

  • That's a sweet ride!

  • aand eet caan feeet moor than twenty mejicanos!

  • KHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN man there is no such thing as corinthian leather

  • I'd buy one.

  • Ricardo would not have been caught dead in a Cor-DOE-ba outside of these commercials.

  • Boss! Da plane, da plane!

  • as I have sex with 4 mexican hooookers in my cordovaaa

  • umm...why did he just drive his "small" Chrylser with its Corinthian leather to a deserted beach fully dressed in his finely tailored suit? wtf is he doing?

  • @MaximusRelaximus Good question.

  • ESO SI QUE ERA UN COCHAZO

  • Back in 1975, midsized was considered "small".

  • @tobyradloff

Exactly right----a car that size today would be considered a full size luxury ride. It`s amazing they considered that Cordoba a "small" Chrysler. It looks longer and wider than present day rides.

  • @pompste

"Small" compared to the New Yorker and Imperial.

  • Cordoba means Piece of Shit when translated from Spanish to English.

  • That car sure does bounce alot.

  • @mccarrpo It has soft corinthian leather springs and shock absorbers.

  • This man could sell a coffin to Jesus.

  • that dude rocks. rip. he can sell shit to anybody.

  • cor-eeee-thnian leather

  • KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

  • wow i remember when i was like 3 or 4 my dad had this car. really cool

  • Alright, for whatever reason (probably nothing better to do tonight) I Googled "Corinthinan leather." Interesting discoveries:

    1. After typing the word "Corinthian" in the Google box, "Corinthian Leather" was the 2nd most popular search.

    2. There is no such thing as Corinthian leather. The word was invented by Chrysler, and It has nothing to do with the city of Corinth. There's an audio clip of Ricardo on Letterman, saying it means nothing. See the wikipedia page for a link.

  • i know what i am and i am what i know and i know the man who knows who i am

  • I don't even know what NEEDS I have, but I know for a fact that this Cordoba will meet them.

  • ..."small"...?? lol :)

  • @PALU3K It's true. There were other cars much larger than that one.

  • I'd like me some soft Corinthian leather c;

  • did he call it "small"? lol. omg. I miss my 76 Cordoba. he's right, it was better on the highway.

  • Ricardo Montalban is the dos equis "most interesting man in the worlds" brother.

  • We need more over-dramatic commercials like this!!!

  • Ricardo Montalban would've been the perfect actor for the role of the Dos Equis beer commercials "most interesting man in the world."

  • @lustacularlysimple Ricardo Montalban would kick the most interesting man in the world's ass!!! And then sell him a '75 Chrysler Cordoba with rich, corrrrrrrinthian leather!

  • Classic ad from an era when cars still had style! Ricardo Montalban was pure class, there just aren't that many Hollywood actors who are that suave any more. Rest in peace, Khan Noonian Singh.

  • I want a fucking Cordoba now.

  • Thirty-five years later and I still think Chrysler copied the Monte Carlo for this car. But, I have to say, these ads are legendary.

  • i like old cars no I now why cuz they were better

  • This was built when Chrysler built beautiful cars. They build ugly cars now.

  • the Cordoba even came with the optional booster seat for..tattoo !!! loook bosss!!

  • El primer modelo de Chrysler Cordoba que entro a Mexico fue hasta 1980 y era la sensacion por que era el primer vehiculo con funciones controladas por computadora que se vendia en el Pais.

  • Chuck Norris will only allow Ricardo Montalban to shave his back.

    .

    .

    With a chainsaw!

  • ah, the sweet sweet aroma of catalytic converter....

  • @TheLizardKing1967

...but does the Monte Carlo have luxurious Corinthian Leather?

  • @jb0177 hmm...idk

  • My family used to have this same generation Cordoba back when I was a kid. I think we were the only Asians ever to own a Chrysler Cordoba.

  • say what you want about the video, thats a good looking car.

  • Da Plane!

  • Well, I'm sold.

  • LOL! I wouldn't want to be the one flopping around on its soft springs and holding its numb steering wheel going up that mountain road. Ricardo has a sack.

  • @Superdessucke That's pretty much what all American cars were like until the mid-1980s.

  • Hey that was my Cordoba!

    KHAAAANNNNN!

  • I saw one of these at a car lot the other day and Ricardo Montalbans voice popped into my head saying..........''corinthian leather''.

  • my parents had one. i just remember the metal buckles on the fine corinthian leather seats. we lived in florida. you'd get 3rd degree burns in the summer.
