  • I have a vid showing me using a a beretta 17 rd mag fited only by having to file a notch for the mag catch. Ups the capacity and the mag was only $4 bucks.

You can also get it in twenty and thirty rd capacity.

The only problem is you need to ad material to the follower to have the slide hold open after the last shot. I figured a little jb weld and it would be fine.

  • @brookeus20 I'm going to look into that! Thanks for sharing :-)

  • They ressemble Sigs. I used to own the ULTRA Star 9mm, great pistols.

  • Hey, any of the Kahr K40 holsters works well for this pistol. Take care!

  • @axishans I've heard of other Firestar owners using Kahr holsters, however, for concealed carry I wouldn't trust it. It might work well for just going to range or plinking.

  • @pock8size You CAN trust them. They used to be issued to INTERPOL agents. Though they're not well known here over in Europe they have a devoted following. They are well made pistols.

  • Never heard of a firestar, looks sharp and well built

  • @TheHobbyistChannel They're not bad. I really haven't heard any complaints about them, and whenever someone says that they had a Firestar in the past and sold it, they wish they would have held onto it.

  • @pock8size yes, i'm trying to get mine back. luckily i sold it to my son so i know where it is. my dad bought it new back in the 90's and i got it from him. i haven't seen another one for sale since. it's a great pistol.

  • I have had mine for a few years, I have shot at least 3000 rounds never had a jam. It is a little on the heavy side, but so far a great firearm.

  • @dosmijos2 I have only put a few a hundred rounds through this one, but like you, have never had a malfunction! They're great little pistols, too bad you can't get 'em new any more...

  • @dosmijos2 is ti single action? is trigger pull like an 1911?

  • @marbito11 Yes, it is a single action trigger. Granted the pull is not like a 1911, but otherwise functions similarly.

  • @marbito11 how heavy isthe trigger pull it?

  • @marbito11 Ya know, that is a very good question...one that I don't have the answer to, lol. It feels typical of a compact handgun though...Sorry I don't know more. If someone else out there knows better than me, please chime in!

  • @marbito11 i like the trigger. its a short reset single action so you can get fast and accurate follow up shots. also, since its an all steel frame its a bit heavier and that helps give you very light recoil so it's very nice to shoot. you can fire multiple boxes of ammo without hand fatigue or pain. but since it's a single action you need to practice and be very familiar with having it cocked and locked if you're going to carry it for defense.

  • Owned one of these in the mid 90's. Loved it. Had it in a starvell finish. Star went out business in '97. I had a 13 round magazine with mine (pre-Brady Bill). You can purchase the larger magazines online. Problems with the Star pistols are that you can't get them serviced by the company anymore. Some small company did buy all of the Star parts, however, and if you dig deep on the internet, you can find where to get things like firing pins (which have been known to break on occasion).

  • @baccusboy Ya, they are a bit of a rarity these days. If something ever goes wrong with it, depending how severe, I may just scrap it...I'll cross that bridge when or if I get there though

  • got a 1994 version and the release nub isn't so obtrusive. None the less you can modify a sig holster to accommodate it with a dremel. You have shown a most overlooked feature of this para military style design. You stripped it in under 10 seconds. Clean/lube/return to action. Try THAT with a glock.

  • @billofatlier True it doesn't take much to field strip a Firestar pistol, but ya know what, I've watched guys field strip their glocks in one seamless motion, and a whole lot quicker than I can strip my firestar. I'll probably go to my grave with a disdain for pistols that have to separate the slide catch from the body of the handgun in order to take it down. It's the only real down fall of the design in my opinion.

  • I can't hear what you're saying!

  • @MrSumbody Ya, sorry about that. You have to turn your speakers way up.
