the reason you cant take any bottles of water on the plane from outside the airport is because they are suspiscious about bombs. 100 ml is the max.

The reason you can buy water bottles once your in the duty free area is because you clearly couldnt have contaminated them if they're pass the detective areas.

you have to put shoes in the tray things because you can put drugs and stuff in the heels or summin if they're chunky... =/ but i hate airports, although i'd laugh if you gave your passport in and they gave you it back like "no, no that isn't you, go away" lol

I remember going to an airport years ago and had to take off shoes because of the BSE crisis years ago. Not sure if they do that now.
