Please, don't get me wrong. As I said I do appreciate John Mellencamp...his music as well as his political ideas and statements. Yet obviously there was s.th. terribly wrong with this performance. And this truly saddens me.
I can't believe it.. people came to see THAT song and the bass player sings the 1st verse while John tries to sing the rest. He's at least a 1/2 tone flat on most of the "high" notes. And who the hell is the drunk guy coming in at 2:50??? He almost makes John sound good. So basically, John sang the 1st chorus, 2nd verse, 2nd chorus, the bridge and that,s it! The more I laugh, the more I love this video!

Ouch.
This performance definitely hurt - but not so good.
Horrifically out of tune & he just couldn't quite make the higher notes - it's probably why he was so heavily bracketed by other singers. Sad.
I think I'll stick with the studio version & pretend I never saw this. . . . .
