  • that's hot

  • thumbs up if .006 brought you here

  • this guy sounds like gus lol

  • Is this software downloadable? can I buy/get this program?

    thanks

  • how can we implement this with gimp?

  • I can't see the image I opened with cs5 extended, can someone help me?

  • very impressive! so very cool :D

  • Very impressive algorithms.

  • Fascinating.

  • adobe has lesser options for this. :(

  • hï_AñýÖñé_wãNÑÄ_chÁt_wîth_mé_Í_fÉÉl_sö_l0Ñëly_tÔDãy¤

  • @vakibaby33 hello spambot

  • It's not a history. It's new technology / new research.

  • Wow, awesome!

  • i think what he says is godd, but i can't understand anythink what he says.

  • are u fucking kidding me? is he teaching me a lesson of the history of images? HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOED TO CHANGE MY IMAGE SIZE?

  • why haven't i seen this on cs4? is it an add on, and if so does anyone know where it can be found?

  • Mergi bah d-aici ca nu pot sa cred asa ceva...

  • This absolutely blows my mind!

  • Stalin would be proud.

  • Is there a plug-in for GIMP yet?

  • For those of us who process images regularly, this is very powerful.

  • This is absolutely brilliant and avoids grid-based artifacts!

  • this is fukken baller and i'm late to the party. :)

  • the baby's head at 3:25 ... hilarious

  • when can we start using and embedding these?

  • @GenoSkill actually windows has more features the only people who buy apple are people who read brochures aka people who dont realize you can get the same programs on windows but get more features and for cheaper so sorry but you fail.

  • @IIZODIIAC Linux mofocka, GNU/Linux. That's the shit.

  • @GenoSkill troll

get off the internet fucking fagot

  • where can i download/buy this tool?

  • @MrWebspirit BUY software? Ha Ha Ha!!

  • @XFi6 Not all people on the world steal other's work ;)

  • That's...wow...one of those "Damn it, why didn't I think of that!" things.

  • @403forbidden403 I started out by also thinking "Why didn't I think of that", ended thinking "hoooly shit that's fucking amazing." My dreams of being a genius are shattered D:

  • @Uzeil Yep, irritating how often that happens. :/

  • check my videos, i have a tutorial for a free copy of photoshop cs4

  • @Qiuness It's going to be a part of CS5 when it's released next month.

  • Wow.

    Holyshitballs.

Thanks Israel - just some more crazy tech from the little desert land :P

  • Amazing! Hooray for computer science!

  • That is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Great work!

  • Wooo000000000000oooooW! :D:D:D

  • מאוד חכם ! יפה כל הכבוד

  • Damn that is awesome but goddamn if we didn't have trouble sniffing out photoshopped images, we will now...

    DT!

  • wtf thats bad ass why have i not heard of this 2 years behind

  • I should probably stop eating so many brownies....

  • Holy crap thats awesome

  • hhooly shit man. This is amazing in so many levels!

  • Jeebus.

  • Thank you Burnie :)

  • Lol drunk tank

  • @Blarg67756 ha, exactly where I came from

  • im on to you Gus.

  • how is this available in cs4..??

  • in cs4 use the selection tool select all or part of an image, then go to Edit from the file menu and select "content aware scale" an you will get resize handles to do the basic stuff you see at the begining of the vid.

gotta search for tutorials on how to do the more cooler things though.

  • Oh my gosh! Brilliant!

  • I wonder if the lines are first calculated when the image is loaded or if it's a dynamic process. Either way, this is an interesting way to re-size images.

  • Amazing

  • Coolest thing I've ever seen!

  • The future is here. Give me my fucking jetpack.

    /sarcasm

  • An awesome method. The algorithm preserves the "feel" of the image.

  • Does PS CS4 include the "protect" and "neglect" features described in the presentation when using content-aware scaling?

  • Yes, Photoshop CS4 implemented protection using alpha channels.

  • Афигеть! 8-))

  • круть!

  • ппц я в шоке

  • nicely done!

    Great job.

  • пипец! =))

  • Gradient magnitude is pretty computationally intensive; I wouldn't think you'd be able to render in real time on most consumer boxes these days. Does the algorithm just use a local approximation?

  • Gradient magnitude (it's used for Edge Detection) is pretty fast, I think the calculation of the minimal energy path is (or was) much more important subject for optimization.

  • I know what it's for. A gradient is a sum of partial derivatives, which can only be defined on smooth surfaces. For that reason to calculate it you need to interpolate a manifold from your data points, typically with the Fourier Transform, a very expensive operation for large images. That's why I asked if the algorithm used a local approximation like Laplace or Sobel. The energy path can be found by a comparison sort, about O n*logn by Stirling's approximation.

  • There are many ways to count the gradient mag or similar function. For an example you can count linear difference in 2*2 pixels matrix for each pixel, or use quadratic approximation for 3*3 matrix. That's pretty fast and it will work giving better or worse quality.

  • I know, man. It's called Sobel. Doing that approximates the slope from a local set of pixels; that's why I called it a local approximation. I've been saying that since the first post. I don't know why you're even responding. We're saying the same thing.

  • Looks like UTube ate second part of my answer to you.

Briefly, I sad, there is about 2~3^pic_size (2~3 not strict 3 because of sides effect) possible ways started in one particular pixel at one side to reach another. It is very big number to direct sort for a moderate picture. This is subject of dynamic programming, and those guys had to use one of approaches.

  • The link doesn't work.

  • Lanczos4?

  • wow this dude sounds like a cyborg

  • very cool. but i had this idea first!

  • Did you implement it first, or at all?

  • Please Help!

I really need some help, well first of all I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and when I want to add a new layer to my photo, using the lasso tool it always appears so small on the picture. And I dont know how to resize it because it doesent show a square!

  • Check your Caps Lock...

  • Brilliant

  • Thanks Dharma Initiative. Namaste.

  • This is just too fucking cool.

  • Exhibit

  • what is the name of this software

  • hahha this dorky but kinda cool

  • Extremely geeky and awesomely cool tech!

  • where can i get this?? =p

  • CS4, DL it! or buy it...

  • wad function 0.o

  • :O nicenicenice

  • Extremely impressive. Great that it's free. Congrats to all involved.

  • yeah, really amazing and fantastic idea...

Pls make a C++ libary for such things ;D

  • amazing. kudos to you guys

  • WOW-just wow!

And tnx becouse u give the program out for free.

  • Honestly I wounder what has happened it the easy image resize? I have found one site and one site only that simply allows you to put a pic in and pick it's new dimensions

  • you can unlock a product key at

    adobecs4.free4thee(dot)com

  • And to think, back in the old days it was a hassle to remove an ex from a picture. Now I can take my old photos and seamlessly erase the bitch!

  • Just like photography killed all we had in viewing things naturally! Oh wait, that's retarded. (in response to the previous comment)

This technology is ingenious. I need to get my hands on a copy of it.

  • Fuckin' impressive indeed - and it actually seems to work pretty well (as long as there's some background covering the whole length or bridth of the picture on at least one side). The option in PS CS 4 is called content-aware scale under "edit". Check it out.

Soon enough, anyone can call himself a graphic artist as long as he's a few thousand pages of Photoshop manual. :-p

  • What applications does supports this technology?

  • read the description of the video! CS4 contains it, apparently.

  • And none else?

  • no clue m8, google it i'd say?

  • Un-fucking-believable! O_O

  • Jesus Christ! Brilliant!

  • has anyone actually found this in photoshop cs4? i cant...

  • Comment removed

  • lo flipo, lo flipo

  • Oh... my ... god... this is so amazing I'm out of words. The author of this is Genious!!! And he even made it open source! respect! :)

  • Does anyone know where can i donwload photoshop for free?

  • get it cracked off limewire

  • Fuck you and your Limewire.

    Torrent.

  • yous a bitchhh

  • no.. he's right.. and your a retard.. fuck you and your limewire.

  • limewire is holy crap of shitnest software on the net

    inutilizable

  • 1 first you need µtorrent

2 and then go to TPB and look but read

    3 comments before you download

    4 install and have fun

    ;)

  • Hey nice video, realy good to know that!

  • Do people actually make their own videos for once in a while....sigh

  • Hi, I have a new Pohotoshop cs4.

Encounter the function not to clear objects as it shows I complete example of the video. Somebody can say where is that option to me?

  • Download THE GIMP and the Liquid Rescale plugin to do this.

THE GIMP is free software available in linux and mac and last but least: windols

  • O_____O

  • seems to be ushering in baudrillardian hyper-reality .. evil :/

  • it's a very intelligent idea

  • holy shit

  • that's not so fantastic, all this features available in modern software.

  • The feature is under the Image menu of the main toolbar. It can only work on layers, not background. So if you open an image in Photoshop, you have to paste it to a new file to work with it.

  • I got CS4, have yet to find this function.

Impressive, yes, but why isnt the CS4 layout and workspace shown eh?

Also, the first example was a capture from IEXPLORER not photoshop which makes this even more suspicious.

  • Obviously, because this video is about the algorithm itself, not about a specific implementation (i.e. Photoshop CS4). Hence the technical discussion, which is, frankly, much more interesting...

  • This feature called "Content-aware scaling" in Photoshop CS4. And Available in Edit Menu, on floating (non BG) layers.

Ability to "remove people from photos" works like Patch Tool in Photoshop, and it not so fantastic.

  • This video is nearly a year and a half old. The addition of this function to photoshop is much more recent.

  • very impressive

  • so nice!

  • Wonderful idea. I want it on my Photoshop now!

    :)

  • buy cs4 :P

  • get a mac

  • I can run Final Cut Pro and Maya rendering at the same time, and I still have a good amount of memory left. I run it on a two year old iMac with a 2.16 GHz processor and 4 gigs or ram. I tried doing the same on a PC, it couldn't even handle Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle at the same time xD

2GHz processor and 4 gigs of ram.

PCs are great for gaming, but when it comes to work, go for a Mac. I'm not a fanboy, since I use both PC and Mac at school, I'm just saying what I find best to use.

  • i watch the demonstration video on the adobe site, but not show de features like erase pepople, or modify image without distort the faces, and others... CS4 have all this features of video, or only the simple resize?

  • damn, this is awesome

  • すげえ

  • But photoshop cs4 extended???

    or no???

i hve the photoshop cs3 extended!

  • Just heard that this is now in CS4 so get your wallets out if you want to use the functionality yourself. Pity CS4 is so damn expensive.

  • Upgrade!

  • Save money by NOT getting a MAC that cant run photoshop in 64 bit anyway!

Get a cheap PC with a quad core AMD or intel and massive graphics card 8gb of ram for under 1k and you'll be able to do everything, and do better and with less money!

  • And all cheap PCs have quad core compatible mother boards?

  • what does quad core have to do with 64 bit?

Seriously do people ever look anything up or just blog and BS all dam day with no idea?!!

And yes alot of quad (and dual core) motherboards (most of the new), support chips that support 64 bit architecture.

  • "Get a cheap PC with a quad core AMD or intel..." I'm merely replying to what you had mentioned. If you were to get a cheap PC, chances are the motherboard is cheap too, and is only compatible with Pentium 4 or what not, and certainly not quad core. Look, i'm not a nerd, and i don't want to have an arguement, i've had a good day and i'm not letting this disturb it.

  • You dont have to be a nerd to look things up.

And the point, that you make for me, that most mac users ARE not nerds nor look things up and just nod and agree with what they are told and given.

The good thing is, this just makes people realize some differences and realities about Apple that people have refused to look at before.

Propaganda can only get you so far... and I'm glad.

  • Get a cheap PC, get some programs, crash the computer because it can't handle the amount of programs you put in it because you think Windows owns.

Get a Mac at the same price, install whatever you like, because programs won't crash the Mac, like they would do with a PC.

Macs ain't expensive if you buy it online... If you go to a store it's heavily overpriced.

I was a Windows user, for a long time, but I changed to Mac because it's easier to use, and better to work with.

    (Personal experience

  • "IN MY OPINION

Get a cheap PC, get some programs, crash the computer because it can't handle the amount of program..."

    Fixed.

  • DAMN I am sold!!

LOVE this and would save me TONS of time when working....woohoo

  • is this on photoshop cs4 ?

  • Yes. The features of CS4 have just been announced and it features Content-Aware Scaling.

    w00t!!

  • that was amacing! Thank you!!!

  • Wow. Is this kermit the frog?

  • Hello everyone.... I don't know thing one about photoshop but thought this would be a good group of people to pose a question to. Can someone please look at the video : Cross in the Sky on youtube and tell me if what you see is possible using photoshop ??? Thanks
