I love Indigo girls..amazing harmonies..but don't tell me you have been gay since you were born..I didn't know I liked girls til I was 13..the fact that something sexualized you at an early age should be an indication that something was wrong
this song blows me away each time i watch it . . . amazing singing . . . that and the look on Amy's face when she finishes the song show just how much it means to her . . . how much it affects her. i can relate to that feeling of a mixture between intense hurt and anger that Amy builds up through the song until just before the end. when she very softly sings "hold me" i think it shows how vulnerable (like many of us) she really is . . . it does make you just want to hold and comfort her . . .
so great...i cannot even describe. I'm mildly upset that the passion and brilliance of this song has gone unrecognicnized as long as it has. Ugh.....whatever, ty, Amy for getting me thru the 90's ......
At a concert I asked her to play this song but she said she didn't know how to play it but had promised her girlfriend she would learn it, i can't believe she lied to me, hopefully she just forgot... because i feel so betrayed
I'd forgotten all about this and it came on in my iTunes library while I was making bread. My man just split up with me a month ago after 5 years and I am RIGHT EFFING THERE!
since when did bob dylan write blood and fire? he was an amazing writer, but amy, herself, is just as amazing, if not more varied in subject matter and intensity. I love her.
This song although written by the great Bob Dillon has never been performed with such tenacity as done by Amy Elizabeth Ray. This song for me has transcended the depths of my own personal history... ~Denny Ayden
The most amazing song I've ever hear live.

@motzke08 Actually, she's not. She was born a woman. My mom knows them, personally. Her speaking voice is actually quite feminine. :)

@barbabell9 Such a great song to be depressed to, honestly. It's warming and forgiving with a hint of obsession.

Tear Your Heart Out!!!
Every unrequitted love, every swirling, hormonal storm, every no-one-left...alone.
Like raw crave, that love-speed tight in your chest, ripping away the limits of your fear, of your need...
And you just want to be held, be near, be complete...
