You should try using fibreglass for constructing your frames it can be premoulded cut and shaped into individual brackets tubes and sheets that can be very versatile in construction. You can also use cotton cloth instead of fibreglass with epoxy glue for resin. Plasticine makes a good medium for moulds as it can be used to reproduce common shapes covered with cellophane it won't stick to fine parts, but retains detail.
@idreamz That's a lovely car you've built there. Please ignore all those criticising your use of wood. For a start you've designed a very good space frame with plenty of triangulation, so there would be plenty of strength. Proof of that is that a similar construction using balsa wood is often used for RC aircraft. I had a 63 inch span plane which got a lot of abuse and was crashed twice (hard!) before anything broke! Keep up the great work! Chris,
Nice car man, for homebuilt its amazing! Nothing compared to something from a hobby shop, but seeing how you made most of it yourself I think that would make up for it.
Hope I enjoyed? Damn right I enjoyed! I just followed the link from the Mustang clip and I´m hugely impressed with the way the front-wheel drive was working on that slippery surface. It´s perhaps a shame that we don´t get to see your ingenious suspension systems working on a less perfect "road" surface. By "McPherson inspired" I take it that you mean that the steering pivots about a point vertically in line with the shock´s shaft? I can´t really make it out on the clip.
wow i am really impressed, i didnt think that was even possible. already loved your mustang but that is even more impressive and it looks quite fast and it seems to handle good as well. really nice
hey, um... would you actually mind giving me a list of all the parts you've used for the car? i'm actually interested in doing something like yours, to tell the truth...
oh btw, if a more powerful motor and stickier tyres are used, would that lose the car's balance per se?
would it still work if i get myself an AWD chassis 'n all, but then i would omit the shaft for the rear wheels and the differential? also i would change the suspension for the rear wheels..
i don't think it work out as good as a proper fwd setup, though..
Except for the parts named in the video (Micro-T and Mini Z parts): 2mm wooden sticks, metal tubes in 1,5mm -4mm, brass ball 3mm in diameter, 2-component epoxy glue.
Stickier tires will improve grip but generally make handling tricky.
AWD chassis with removed rear drive has been tried by other people with disappointing results, try seearching for forums and you'll see.
Be prepared to put a lot of time into building, Good luck!
That was very cool, nowadays you buy RC cars RTR, but you built yours, thats awesome. I need to do that with my HPI Savage, but I think it would just bust and burst into flames. Good vid
i dont know if you do this and if you dont it may be something you might want to do even tho the wod is strong tou cn make it even stronger by soaking the chassi in krazy glue.
nice cars, im currently on the works with a 69 vw bug (same scale). i made the chassis out of wood but i'm working on the aluminum version. keep up the good work!!!
i doubt that! ive never seen a 70 mph xmod. my traxxas stampede vxl does about75 and my brushless emaxx goes 0-60 in 1.5 seconds theres no way a tiny car like that could even come close ive put almost 1000 dollars into the emaxx.
umm how would you know if it is fun to drive u have nver even used his car.and besides its obvious it a drift car not speed car and it is pretty fast cause the speed he drives it isnt the regular atomic BB motor speed hes goin slow to drift so stop hating on ppl.
why would you say that? you this car isnt about just having one. it about an accompl;isment of building something yourself ie like building model cars growing up he has done a good job leave it at that.
you should make a video of you driving your wooden chassis full speed into a concrete wall and watch it explode into little splinters. fuck jamie cullum
Hello there, the paper plan I have doesn't cover everything, only features the wooden frame. I'll see if I still have it left but please send me a PM should I forget.
Surprised you used wood for the chassis. But it seems to work ok if it's just as a mobile model. Maybe you could get a job working for the Morgan Motor Company. ;-)
sweet. nex project u should use aluminum or plastic trusses. it would give u more room than wood. also, the micro t part idea is good. give u nice travel and the ability to get replacement parts. is the body miniz?
If I understood your question correctly the answer is no. The hobby shop has to be officially Kyosho-approved, which means it has to reach a certain standard (this according to their catalogue). I got mine from a japanese webshop though (Hobby Search).
where to buy those stick? and what are the things i need to make a stick frame chassis.. cos i need to make a front wheel drive chassis.. im gonna use some xmods parts.. please reply asap.. thank you!
Buy sticks at a hobby shop. I use 3x3mm pinewood. Then you have to have a hobby saw, and a file. Align it on a 1:1 scale drawing. Then glue it together with epoxy glue, I prefer the 15min one.
Good luck with your project and make sure you post some pics/updates! :)
sure! im really inspired to that gti!! specialy to your whole team! hey i have another question.. hey whered you get the motor with complete set of gears " i mean the main engine of this project " the complete set of the engine or motor? =) this is the last question man and after this i'll just read your forum then..
i dont have yet, im still waiting for the product to come i mean the model kit that i order lastweek.. and this would be my first RC project ever.. =D thanks for the link!
did you make the chassis?? wow really cool!! damn i havent started with my mini z gti project im still on matchbox gti.. but i already have my own gti mini z maybe nextmonth.. hihi
I'm serious, you should start your own company! Enlist some slave labour to churn out your fantastical designs (well, it might be nice to pay them, I suppose). You could make a mint.
how did u made the cardan, and from which material? awesome job ;)

Yes exactly, they are 1/27th scale. However with some luck you can fit a 1/25th scale plastic model kit onto it with some modifications.

Um, just for clarity: it's not my forum. It's run by a guy called ripper7777777 and a bunch of other guys on the west side of atlantic.
As for the drivetrain with the motor and gearbox, it's taken from the MicroT, you can google it. Parts are quite affordable compared to MiniZ IMO.
