Technically, Battlezone was pretty amazing for a 2600 game, what with the 3D environment, special effects like the screen garbage when you're hit, and even the independent movement of the left and right tank treads. Fun game on top of all that too.
@JackPlatt Yes, it looks less colorful, especially the ground which normaly should simulate movement. Is this maybe related to differences between PAL and NTSC?
Yeah, it's definitely a step up from your typical Atari game of the time, and even lacking the obstacles of the arcade game, it's a lot of fun to play.

lol. I never tried it on the 2600 version, but had a damned good try to reach the volcano on the arcade version.
Obviously, I failed.

I played this as a kid quite a bit, I knew the game looked great back then.. but I never realized till recently just how amazing this is.
