The 16th December 2011 is the 10th anniversary of Stuart's death, your music will live on Stu, thanks for all the great memories. Your fans will never forget you!
I mainly listen to metal, primarly death and black metal, pretty normal to find me listening to songs with titles like "Dechristianize", or "Time Heals Nothing", but I have a weakness.... Stuart was so f'ing amazing, and big heavy metal guy that I am, this song tears me up every time I listen to it. RIP
when I was 17, I heard Steeltown siting forelorn in my parent's basement. then I heard 'shadow' a few days later. I was so dumbfounded. It was like reading Shakespeare for the first time. I was exposed to worlds of emotion, landscapes of strife, valleys of despair, mountains of hope, that I did not know existed. I was also very sensitive to technically good music (Rush fan). Thanks Stuart, Tony, Bruce, Mark. You helped shape my life.
Stuart was an absolute poet and the band was the perfect vehicle to present that to the world. I still get pissed whenever I hear them referred to as a "one hit wonder".
I am of the opinion that one cannot write these kinda lyrics without facing the darkest depths of ones soul, which is usually faced during addiction. sad, but these songs can save.
One of my all time regrets if not going to see Big Country when I could have live. Such a fantastic band and great words and music. I certainly go to every band I can nowadays for fear of missing out. But few touch my like they do
I saw BC back in '82-''83 when "The Crossing" album was released. They played in a 500 seat theater, and the concert was fantastic. They were in their prime and hungry to make it big.
what can i say except TOTALLY AMAZING watching these videos literally makes me cry. i was too young when big country where in there in their prime, now that big stuarts gone im bokenhearted at the thought of never seeing them live. wee love & miss you stu, your memory will live with me forever xx lorna xx
with all the rubbish on the radio these days its fantastic to hear such great music. i watched big country three times in the eighties when you hear such great songs it makes you smile it makes you sad please keep posting the videos thanks
Mon Isa, je suis en train de rattraper mon retard "d'inscrite récente sur Utube" : je mets donc cette excellente version d'une chanson pleine de profondeur dans ma playlist. Mieux vaut tard que jamais...

Probably their best song. He must have been stoned to think up lyrics this deep.
