Sootch, can you do a review of your AR 15, and answer why you chose your upper vs. another, bottom, barrel, etc. Answer why that vs. Nutn's Rock River Entry package. There are just too many choices and I want a light, handy carbine.
Sweet rig. I heard you mention it would be good for a .308 setup. Are you sure?Seems to me the .308 round is a little taller than the .223. Would you happen to know if the chest rig would be suitable for a 20 round LMT .308 magazine? Thanks for all you do Sootch!

You should get some body armor to go with that vest. Might not be the best idea for a zombie invasion though seeing as extra weight could make you slower than the fat guy your trying to outrun.
@choopdewoot Doubt it. AK74 mags are thicker and more curved than AR15 mags due to the fact that 5.45x39 is a tapered cartridge. You're probably better off getting AK47/74 pouches.
I love the guys that knock chest rigs and vests. "I'll just use pockets."...okay. You do that. Let me know how you like carrying 6+mags, ifak, light, binocs, chem sticks, knife, multitool, etc in your jeans. I'll bet it'll work out great for ya.
Used a BDS chest rig for over a year and had too many small issues that should have been corrected beforehand. However it is a good quality rig, but I depart from the notion that 4 layers of 1000d is 'quality'. Personally I rock a Mayflower R&C chest rig and it works just as well and is lighter than any BDS option. Just my opinion.

@sootch00 I also live in canada where for center fire rifles you can only have, 5 round magazines (Rim fire is normal capacity) also may I suggest you try out the MoFOCR vest from cp gear. Many members of are armed forces use that vest when they ship over to Afghanistan.

Hey Sootch, I was wondering if I could get your input, I'm turning 21 soon and can finally start buying hand guns, I want my first to be a 1911 and was wondering what a good one would be for under 1,000, as of right now I'm leaning towards a Springfield Range Officer or maybe a Smith and Wesson, but i know you like them so I figured you'd have some good input. @BigBusch7 I was at a gun show this weekend and there were many Springfield Armory 1911's for good prices. I missed one for $550 but decided on an AR15 instead. Great place to find god deals. 1911 is a Great choice.
@BigBusch7 Think about what you are going to be using it for, home defense, carry or just shooting. Keep things in mind like cost of ammo and how often you will shoot and are you an experianced shooter if not start with a .22 or 9mm. Anyways whatever you get just having a gun is a good thing.
@BigBusch7 Take a look at the Taurus PT1911. A good entry level 1911. Probably not a competition gun but a good overall value. You can't go wrong with the SW1911's either but may be more difficult to get under that $1K mark.
@BigBusch7 Stay away from a 1911 if you plan to CCW. Unless you are blessed enough to be in an area which allows open carry. Where i am, it is a gray area which is not clearly forbidden in the laws but people will defnitely call the cops if they see me waiting for a coffee with my 1911A1 hanging off my hip. It's all about your preference of course, but choosing a lighter pistol will be easier to carry is all. Good luck with whatever you choose! Welcome to the club buddy.
