  • I can't really understand you but thats great that your trying to help, my names Natalie!

  • Hey, the website of this orphanage says "...and our main goal is to teach the children the Christian faith and disciple those who make commitments." I think this is important information for people to know, as many people wouldn't feel comfortable donating to group that spends some of its resources on preaching, to vulnerable kids at that. I'm not even stating a radical position, Caritas (Catholic aid org) agrees with this non-preaching principle of giving aid.

  • I think there is a distinction between demanding compliance or conversion in exchange for aid, (which is clearly unethical) and explaining that many of the people who are caring for these children without families are doing it because of what Jesus has done in their lives, and then offering the young people a chance to respond. Christians are actually looking to develop long term genuine relationships rather than short term manipulated responses.

  • KidsAlive isn't an orphanage. They're missionaries converting Muslim & Druze kids into Christians.

"Kids Alive Lebanon's Children's Home -- called 'Dar El Awlad' in Arabic - is our oldest ministry, having joined the Kids Alive International family in 1948. The home cares for 40 boys from Christian, Muslim, and Druze backgrounds. All of our staff are practicing Christians, however, and our main goal is to teach the children the Christian faith and disciple those who make commitments."

  • Dar El Awlad IS an orphanage, and along with the boys home there is also a school and a babies home. KidsAlive (as am I) is open in it's Christian faith along with its desire to help underprivileged kids. With a lot of aid agencies these two facts just do often go together I guess.

  • What time and time zone does the auction end on Friday the 27th?

  • Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm just uploading another video with those details. :) Should be up in a little while.

    -Debbie

  • :) i'm so excited!!

  • Hey thanks to Deb and to everyone who is entering the raffle. All our kids and the staff here at Kids Alive International-Lebanon will be very grateful. Best of luck everyone for winning the book!!!

    Lindy (Debbie's sister in Lebanon)

  • My son Jack has one of these wonderful books. It's the best!

  • Cool. With only 6 out there in the world I'm glad that you are still enjoying it :)

    -Debbie

  • aaah Pants Power! I bid in the auction, but is the only way to get PP to buy some raffle tickets?

Debbie, you are my nerdfighting role model, this is so amazing.

  • Yup. Pants Power and his Power Pants can only be obtained through the lottery. (It's a pretty cute story, too. Debbie is planning to make a video for it over the weekend.)

  • Yeah, sorry Abby, I'm trying to be realistic about the next year of my life and probably making multiple copies of a book won't be high on my list of things to do!

I'm flattered by your interest but you may want to hear the story before you get too excited! Stuart seems to think that I'm filming something this weekend, so I guess I'd better get to it!

All the best with the auction -Debbie

  • I need a paypal account :(

I think my dad might have one, perhaps I can persuade him to let me use it for the raffle.

  • w00t I entered the raffle

  • Awesome - thanks. All the best with your entry :)

I'm thinking that Calvin might have to draw the raffle from his Indiana Jones hat - or something like that.

    -Debbie

  • This is such a fantastic idea!

Unfortunately, I have no money and no income.

  • thanks for making these books! i've entered auction and raffle!

  • Aww, I would love to participate.

Hmm...maybe I can get my mom to lend me some money. (Jobless sixteen year old)

Anywho, good luck and God bless!

    <3 Ashley

  • Yay! We're entering in the raffle right now! <3 Natalie did a splendid job! Thank you for rallying the Nerdfighters for this orphanage again, you're amazing Debbie. <3 Hopefully we'll do much more this time around for the kids.1

    Hugs!

    -B

  • Thank you so much Brittany. 'You guys rock.

I hope that all goes well with your World Vision efforts. I was excited to get an update from one of our World Vision kids today. :)

All the best in the competition -Debbie

  • OK, I'm updating my paypal account so I can bid and enter the raffle...

    ~Trav

  • cool thanks Trav.

I'm really excited, because my sister will actually be visiting Australia in July (first trip in over 3 years!) and I'm looking forward to presenting her with an extremely over sized novelty cheque.

    -Debbie

  • You mean an oversized novelty check? :-)

    j/k

    ~Trav

  • No no. I'm pretty sure that a cheque would be more use than a 'check'. Nouns tends to be more tangible than verbs! ;)

    lol -Debbie

  • It's certainly easy to tell that you're a writer.

    :)

  • First! Of course, I've already read both of these books, so I won't be bidding in the auction.

  • I don't believe that. I'm sitting at the table while Debbie makes the video public, and I can't get First!!! Unbelievable.

  • How about you offer to pay the post? That would be a useful donation ;)

hahahaha - not first!!!! Nerdfighters are amazing.

  • oooer... coolio
