  • this song is kinda creepy if the person just does not want you, it also would be a great song to rape someone too.....to far lol

  • @Act101babee Yes you have gone way too far, firstly if you actually listen to, and read the lyrics ( they are the song words ) ! it is obviously a mutual love song not some kind of stalker obsession. Secondly your jokey ?? comment about rape has no place anywhere, least of all on a website discussing the joys of music. Yes you are young but that cannot excuse such a stupid comment, you should grow up a little before you post any more thoughtless views, and you got your to`s and too`s wrong !

  • @633squadrongoodwin dude its youtube, im not going to talk all english like, i have an A in english anyways, and i love this song and i know what its about, ive been listening to motown since before i could crawl i know as much oldies probably even more than you do, and i dont understand why the older generation always take things so seriously, my little cousin was raped so i know its serious but its just a joke come your tits

  • Listening to this in 2012(; This song came out when my mom was 9! I am 17 and now i am listening to it xD

  • did the late 60's early 70's bring us the best we have ever heard or will ever?? I am starting to think so! what was it about that era that had us all groovin!?

  • Fabulous! Just Fabulous!! This reminds me of the beginning of an era when my family and I would travel from Brazil to Terre Haute, IN (where we were orginally from) to visit my Uncle Bob and Aunt Rita, along with my wonderful cousins: Terri, Pam, Randy, Steve, and Stephanie Phillips!! It was a great time in my life!

  • Fabulous! Just Fabulous!!

  • Oh what memories, when music was very good and well worth listening too, when the ladies of music were ladies and didn't have to come on stage almost naked to sell the crap they call music. This takes me back to some good times in the 70s when I could say of the totp top 20 I liked 15 or more.Aint said that for many years now.

    So was I!!! XDXD

  • The Supremes and Temps hit #2 in Billboard, 1-11-69. Otis Williams. of the Temps did the male spoken part in the bridge. I guess the producer didn't think that Eddie Kendricks' speakin' voice was right for it. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • A REAL BEAUTY FROM MOTOWN,THE GREATEST RECORD LABEL IN THE WORLD. XXXX

  • 8 Justin Bieber fans disliked this, the douches!

  • Shows you don't need an amazing studio - but you DO need great writers/performers/singers...Pushy little fucking whipersnappers could learn from this

  • Chills, chills, chills! never-ending!

  • YES I WILLLLLL

  • Can someone please tell me who is singing the first verse???Pleaseeee

  • @jayg1407 Certainly SOUNDS like Eddie Kendricks.

  • @jayg1407 temptations

  • @jayg1407, it's Eddie Kendricks

  • i remember being three years old singing this! (btw, im not old as hell, im not even 18)

  • Wow, sounds even better than in 1969 - like a great wine - only improves. (Especially with all the contemporary X-factor sh!t around) . . .

  • @MrBazza86 Agreed...this song is better than most of the junk on the radio today ♥♥

  • How about the Funk Brothers...they were Motown!!

  • I can never sit still while listening to Dianna Ross.

  • We have this playing at work all the time ... it really gets into your head

  • Eddie Eddie Eddie! Lord Have Mercy! Noone can touch him when it comes to his falsetto singing. A couple of his replacements over the years sounded close to his voice, but absolutely noone can match his distinct beautiful falsetto singing. He tore this song up!!

  • That bass track is smokin'!!!

  • A song this good doesn't need a video. Besides, that picture captures it all.

  • James Jamerson on bass.

  • For real?? 6 tone deaf people voted no to this??? The best version of this song ever, amazing!!!

  • ....would rather have the O's than the candles for my BDay....~<3

  • YO EDDIE SUNG THIS ONE HERE, THEY WANTED TO GET BACK TO THE LOVE BALLADS AFTER SMOKEY STOP WRITING 4 THEM...... EDDDDDDDIIIIEEE DAMMIT !

  • @1ladymari

    What's your address? : )

  • When African American people played and sang their asses off! Quite possibly the greatest Motown song ever made!

  • I love this song!!! Its sweet and touching... a different time indeed. Timeless love song!

  • #2 r&b, #2 pop Billboard's Chart in 1969 (US)

  • love this song mayne

  • i love this song

  • The Temptations <3 <3 <3

    Diana Ross <3

    The Supremes <3

  • one of my many favs

  • Motowns 2 greatest ever groups/artists should've done more songs together in my opinion this was the best supremes song and best temptations song they both had countless great songs but this on was the best cause the 2 best groups of the era together made it unbeatable also i believe it longest of either bands songs to last on the charts at numer 1 longer than even my girl or stop in the name of love!

  • Great song, that always makes me smile!

And 2.15 always makes me grin like a fool!!! Love it.

    An underrated song.

  • ooooooooooooo oooo ooooo im gonna do all the things for uuuu

  • Both versions of this song are great classics. With Stevie or Eddie and the TEMPTATIONS, classic Motown all the way. THANK YOU & GOD BLESS.

  • Better Version - Diana Ross & Stevie Wonder. <3 it.

  • @skaaadoinkle That TV show video you saw was probably the only time Stevie and Diana ever sang that song together. It was never recorded by them.

  • @skaaadoinkle HOG WASH STFU FOOL !

  • Better Version - Diana Ross & Stevie Wonder. <3 it.

  • love this duet!=)

  • The collection of talent at Motown was UNREAL

I mean think about it, Supremes, Temps, Tops, Jacksons, Commodores, Marvin, Stevie, Smokey, Gladys, Martha and the list is endless, not to mention the incredible behind the scenes talent like HDH and the Funk Brothers.

There's never been anything like it, before or since.

I don't know how young folks can listen to these records and not wanna burn their hip-hop CD's

If you're young and you listen to this, how do you not feel cheated?

  • Fantastic song. Too bad this is a still photo instead of a video.

  • this brings back many happy memories

  • i,ve loved this song for 40 years..........still do.x

  • 6 people suck.

  • such a great colloboration---too bad they didnt record more tunes together---but berry gordy was against it citing a clsh of 2 great groups

  • @EMCEMITCH As a matter of fact, they did two hour long TV specials together and at least two albums together.

  • For you september1....... Carnaby St - 1970 x

  • great audio......LOVE THIS SONG.....thanks for posting it.....

  • reminds me of dixie square... so sad what it looks like now

  • Buhaton nako nga mahigugma ka nako.

  • i think one of their best songs. I first heard it on the radio on thanksgiving evening 1968...i was only 12!

  • Oh Lord Have Mercy! My baby, Eddie Kendricks. Whew! I get goose bumps everytime I listen to him sing, especially on this song. He sung the hell out of this song. It's like he put everything he had into this song more than he ever did. I love, love me some Eddie Kendricks more than any other artists ever and I am a music connisuer from the ol' school. He and Diana sounded good together. I wish we still had artists and music like this, but unfortuantely that kind of talent is a thing of the past.

  • By this time, Berry Gordy was pulling out all the stops to make Diana a superstar (which of course succeeded). Unfortunately, it was sometimes at the expense of her fellow artists at Motown. The story goes that all collabrations with Diana had to be in her key. Though the Supremes and Tempts were like family, there may have been just a little resentment there. Perhaps that contributed to Eddie Kendricks putting a little extra oomph in this performance.

  • @emmettk you need to read about eddie and diana. they were friends and he often stuck up for her when the jealous fellow artists picked on her. eddie's vocal group backed her famous 1979 HBO concert in las vegas. that was a whole 10-11 years after they recorded this song. people like to promote diana as the villain. its a story that has unfortunately stuck and now has become 'the truth'. this is a great song no matter what diana may have demanded. if this was recorded in her key it worked out.

  • @wonderboyjoy I appreciate your perspective and stated that they were like family. I am also aware that the relationship between members of the two groups predates even their Motown days (as the Primes and Primettes). I was not suggesting Diana was to blame for whatever resentment that may have existed. That said, my statement regarding Berry placing Diana above the rest of the Motown roster is almost universally accepted as truth.I did not depict as her demands but rather, Berry Gordy"s agenda.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm MISS Ross' voice is soooo sexy...my fav singer of all time

  • I never said Diana Ross killed Flo. Her demise in The Supremes was her own doing.

  • Still got my copy of "baby love", but it ain't motown, its on the Stateside label!!.

    Hank, from Lincoln

  • the late great eddie kendricks

  • I'm so sick of some people acting like Diana Ross shot Flo or something,

flo died, no one killed her

  • If this was #3, I wonder what were #1 and #2 ?

  • @AtomAnt11 No's 1 and 2 were (If paradise is) Half as Nice by Amen Corner and Where do you go to (My Lovely) by Peter Sarstedt

  • @633squadrongoodwin you know what a retorical question is?

  • @633squadrongoodwin

    haha, very good... thanks

  • @633squadrongoodwin i appreciate you answering that actually :)

  • @633squadrongoodwin I had both of those. I liked "Where Do You Go To", but I wasn't terribly fond of "If Paradise Is Half as Nice"; I had it on a compilation... I remember hearing THIS song on the radio, even in the 1980s...

  • @AtomAnt11

This was #1 in the US in 1969.

  • @AtomAnt11

It hit number three on January 25, 1969

    1. Marvin Gaye-I Heard It Through the Grapevine

    2. Richard Harris-"MacArthur Park"

  • Florence was a great talent but she let Diana and Berry Gordy turn her into a bitter person who destroyed herself. She had a great opportunity and wasted it. They were also very young and immature and dealing with tremendous pressure. Diana is where she is today because the lady had an iron willed determination to succeed in show business. What happened back then is all hindsight.

  • @casey3234 NOT NECESSARILY. THE STORIY ISN'T OVER YET. THE MOVIE IS WELL IN SIGHT.

  • @casey3234 i agree totally. people got to stop treating florence like she was a victim. most writers say florence was headstrong and never balked at 'having a go' at berry and diana. Florence's main problem was Florence.

  • I think this pic is the best, it shows the true star first, Florence. RIP sweetheart, Diana's time is coming and you can greet her first hand.

  • I love this! Thank you for posting it!

  • Yo Eddie sung the shit ! out of this song, It's the best he EVER did, Eddie was so smooth, he had such MASS APPEAL, that voice is AMAZING, he totally out sung Diana and I love Diana Ross, IM HYPE RIGHT NOW , drinking Talyors Port... Im 41 but a mucsic historian, AWWW MANNNN ! I'm in HEAVEN !

  • Sweet voiced Eddie Kendricks duetting with Diana. Nice.

  • A favorite and good song that I never tire of hearing..

  • thanx for posting this timeless art....'69 was a profound year and this song was part of the beat of my heart as i left my girl and went to flight training in the Air Force.....and here we are today....what happened?

  • pop watches popeye and still can't find a sense of humor

  • what a sad #(*&6 you are pop..i love the still picture...if that's all you got to complain about, you need to get a freakin life..good sound...thanks 633

  • Janeshe 2 says: thats actually a gorgeous pic of them

  • Seems to be a lot of anger in the comments here which is confusing since it's such a nice song. I am sure if I kept going back through all the comments that I could figure out how it happened. But I think I will just have another drink instead.

  • Wish some of these multiple group hits had made it into the Temptations movie. Guess that would have made it a lot longer, though.

  • THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING - CLASSIC MOTOWN - THE BEST!!

    YOU MADE MY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song especially Eddie's part oh and i think diana sounds great to but i dnt lik towards the end when her and Eddie are singing together it sounds lik Diana's mic is higher

  • @JERRiCKKABaBy THEY HAD TO TURN UP DIANAS MIKE BECAUSE HER VOICE WAS TOO WEAK.

  • @TheCounslor where'd you get that from?

  • @TheCounslor Yea that makes since..still wish they hadnt tho lol

  • felt like some temptations and supremes

  • Stop complaining....Great song & quality

  • well said @633squadrongoodwin....it is all about the music and soul of Diana's voice and soul here, ....and the Temptations sound great also.

Thanks for posting....heard this in the car and had to hear this version...Also, didn't many music critics say MTV ruined a lot of the oersonal connection with music?

  • @pop794corima Whatever point you might have had was sadly ruined by your needless agression on your last line, but surely 140,000 views and dozens of appreciative positive coments must bear out the obvious fact that music is mainly about hearing, and not needing to see moving pictures. I can assure you I have a wonderful life........... with only the occasional minor irritations !!!!!!!!!!

  • @633squadrongoodwin LOL! "..I can assure you I have wonderful life, with only the occasional minor irritation". LOL!

  • @633squadrongoodwin

    your totally right man.

    what a douchebag.

  • @633squadrongoodwin....Yeah good for you!! That told him! There's no need for people to be nasty especially over a record which is all about love! Hope you're having a brilliant life!

  • @TheBostonsurfboard Thank you my friend , and yes myself and Mrs 633squadrongoodwin are enjoying a fine life which in part is due to avoiding negative comments and negative people, we`ve only got one crack at it so enjoy life and be kind to others, that`s what I say, best wishes to you and those you love.

  • @pop794corima Youtube is for sharing ..so why don't you appreciate that which has been generousely given to you, (No spelling jokes please ) !

  • @pop794corima Grow up. This thing is FREE. Bitch and whine all you want, because you are a whiner

  • @pop794corima

its for the song not the video

  • @pop794corima Some of us just wanna hear the song, not the video. And no need to be rude or harsh.

  • @AnimeFanADDICT

I just need the music as sung by the original artists. The heck with the video. This has been one of my favorite songs for over 40 years.

  • @pop794corima what fuckin video would they have put? a slideshow? just listen to the fuckin song.

  • Too bad David Ruffin was gone by now...at least Eddie Kendricks was still with Temptations.

  • Memories of Youthclub days :))

  • They performed this on a TV show, in summer of 68. Just think all this love in the same year MLK and RFK were murdered, the Tet offensive in Viet Nam, the Democratic party riots in Chicago. The music is beautiful. It came out of desperate times.

    It is all about Love.

  • Eddie Kendricks had a voice of an Angel, his voice had "MASS APPEAL" it was virtually impossible not to like it... SMOOTH as Ice. Him and Daviid, what a combination... Thank you GOD for them both...

  • @stevieplez2

    You ain't never lied!

  • Thanks what great info with the different way you posted the lyrics! I had this album! It was my first RECORD I ever bought as a matter of fact! I had $5.00 that I had saved for a good while from my last allowance from my Daddy B4 died in 68! So I was at the record store and bought this my first album..I always say it was from him! My 2nd was McCartney! U could do a lot w/ 5bux bk then! ~ wink Thanks !633squadrongoodwin

  • @jetbirdzme That`s one of the amazing things about music, just a few seconds of a certain song can transport us back into whatever mindset we were in at that time.Ok so we `nicey nicey` it up a little ( for me I remember every day being sunny when I was a kid........in England, yeah right !!!!!!!!! ) but so what, it`s a yummy feeling to enjoy a little slice of nostalgia every now and then, anyway thanks for your reminiscenses and your kind words.

  • Im gonna make you love me... :)

  • A great calibration of two beautiful groups from Motown Records !

  • sublime!!

  • Timeless

    Love it

    Thanks

    xxxxxxx

  • i like this song

  • Carmen 415 I know you love this I will fall in love with Diana Ross

  • Excellence!

  • TOP OF THE LINE.....My love is strong you see I know you'll never get tired of me oh baabyyy

  • one of my favorites..... love this song...

  • if u get the right person to sing lead to this song its actually kind of nice!!

  • shame really not all singers were signed up to motown and some wanted alll the limelight

The original singer was a backing singer trying to step into the light but could not get the motown sign up !

Dionne Warwick also sang this song but Dee Dee her younger sister is still the best

Oh by the way she also is the original singer of Alfie

it's not like the big stars did not have enough recordings without ganging up to squeeze out the little people

  • not better than the original

  • one of my favorite songs of all time and I have lived since 1793.

  • Haven't heard this song in years and then happened to come across it yesterday and now I'm obsessed. Yes, guys, you made me love you.

  • they call it stalking & lifeless these days. nothing wrong with some real love not all money crap these days

  • Nothing strikes my Motown fancy more than this wonderful collaboration between some of my favorite artists.

  • WHAT A SONG FROM MOTOWN !!!!!

  • this was and still is a beautiful song. after all these years still sounding good. what a great time to have been at motown. eddie's voice is so angelic like. and there's only one diana ross. thanks for posting.

  • Great song

  • Take me I'm yours! I had just had to write that...it's so hot!

  • Hey who did the 80's verison for this song.

  • Haven't heard this in months. Thanks!

  • I wish all duets by groups or solo artists had this kind of style and penache when they do try to sing side by side. This song is timeless....

  • What a great team back in the day... Thanks 4/posting

  • This songs brings back so many good and bad memories but were good things when I was a young 17 year old person. I had a GOOD TIME, Thanks DIanna, Puerto Rico to Bronx 3rd ave.

  • Eddie Kendricks Know her was singing the hell out this song!!!!! Diana did her thang too. They just don't make music like this anymore.
