Cats do humans a huge favor in extermination service that does not harm the environment. There's no way anyone with any sensibility about disease rats and mice carry will handle those vermin to "free" them from cats. Birds are good animals. I had one Maine Coon cat (RIP dude,you were the king), he used to hunt between 1 to 5 birds A DAY.
It started when he went out the 1st time... & lasted 10 long years before he was to old to hunt... & most of the birds had moved to another area 2kms far.
Count the birds now: on a basis of 200 days of hunt per year x 10 years hunt x 2 to 3 birds a day

Let say the 15 1st birds experience was a bit difficult for me... then, we got used to it. ;)
