Very nice! Awesome video. I'm thinking about leaving work at lunch and going out fly fishing now. You guys make it look like heaven with those hook ups in the sun like that ! I've got to make it over there some day.
hey mate, tapered leader to dry fly indicator, one meter tippet to light weighted nymph, or longer/shorter tippet depending on conditions. how about i take you out one day in feb if i've got time? pretty busy with home renovations but could do a half day if you want.
i noticed that u said u were goin fishing in feb. whats the temperature like? im in the u.s and it is 45 degrees...lol,i want to go fishing bad...just wandering wat temp it is ovr there if u r catching fish in feb.
try above and below but there's private property an hour's fishing upstream where the guy doesn't like trespassers because he can be bow hunting at any time. best about now to feb.
ah memories, was ther in 2001, goin back for ayr in 2009,, the fishing is brilliant and its catch and release, now there is a respect for a resource, Ireland is yet to change its catch and kill policy.. but there is hope..
Where abouts you from in Ireland cause at Cavan I find ur frowned on if you take fish. Even if they are size and you're still in bag limit. I know there's still a lot of fish taken but I think that's on the decrease. I hope so any way.
Hey again! What exactly were you using for those trout anyway? Nymphs? Drys? Its a bummer, the fishing season is over where I live, now I have to live off videos like yours to get me through the winter!
Nymphs, dries and, at the end of the day if we've had no luck, wet flies as we make our way back to the car. Sorry to hear your season's finished. For some annoying reason it happens every year.
Beautiful and very healthy looking browns. Love the small head and football bodied fish. Looks like super technical fishing, i.e. clear slow moving water in a relatively narrow stream.
Thanks for your comment. We use light gear with long leaders on these streams, and we're not what you'd call experts but we get a lot of practice in! Cheers.
Thank you. Summer's arriving a bit late here but we're expecting things to improve in February. Two of us are carrying little digicams now so we should be able to post another video sometime soon.

You're allowed to take fish but we never do. We leave that for Taupo when we're catching fat, spawning hens on the Tongariro.

Sorry Steve. That previous comment was meant as a reply to dookie2kie re. catch and release in Ireland.

Hi, the upper reaches aren't open until 1 October and close 30 June. Check the reg's for a stream's winter limit. There are fish down there!
