  • Nice!!!! What kind of trout are they??

  • @SmallmouthMan756 All brownies in this video.

  • Very nice! Awesome video. I'm thinking about leaving work at lunch and going out fly fishing now. You guys make it look like heaven with those hook ups in the sun like that ! I've got to make it over there some day.

  • Everyone head North! no good trout down south ; )

  • nice those fish look strong strong ....i like th last take on the retrieve ...boom. love it when that happens!

  • do you use lead weighted nymphs or lighter ones there?

  • hey mate, tapered leader to dry fly indicator, one meter tippet to light weighted nymph, or longer/shorter tippet depending on conditions. how about i take you out one day in feb if i've got time? pretty busy with home renovations but could do a half day if you want.

  • i noticed that u said u were goin fishing in feb. whats the temperature like? im in the u.s and it is 45 degrees...lol,i want to go fishing bad...just wandering wat temp it is ovr there if u r catching fish in feb.

  • mid-twenties celsius, which is about mid-seventies for you. it's summer here in the southern hemisphere.

  • thats wat i figured,....i wish it was summer over here...

  • why are you only showing the browns? didn't you catch any rainbows there?

all really nice fish by the way. you should make a fifth

  • yep, but little rainbows. been there yet?

  • not yet, might go next month for a weekend. Would that be a good time to catch fish there?

And where is the best part of the stream above the bridge or below?

  • try above and below but there's private property an hour's fishing upstream where the guy doesn't like trespassers because he can be bow hunting at any time. best about now to feb.

  • Ok. Does he allow access if you ask him?

  • they all do but you'll have to go door knocking. never hurts to have a box of beer on you.

  • Dead right. To bad I'm only 15. I asked for access at a small lake once and they wouldnt allow it

  • hi,

sorry but i don't want to advertise locations, but i will tell you this: the answer to your other question, which i've deleted, is yes.

  • nice stream, great fly fishing friends. if you ever visit the usa, i welcome you, come and fish with us.

  • thanks, will do. likewise if you're ever here.

  • So does that mean its winter in July?

  • you've got it!

  • common now.....thats feb'???if thats what the weather and fishing is like in the middle of winter I'm moving. And I live in the crowsnest valley,ab

  • you may not believe this but in the southern hemisphere it's summer in february.

  • Well done! You should come to Alaska for Rainbows. I would love to chase trophy browns in a T-shirt:)

  • That sounds like a good plan. Thanks for your comment. They're not exactly trophy fish in this stream but it's nice summer fishing.

  • Sweet fishing boys and beautiful fish!

  • Thanks mate.

  • wow man thats so cool i never thought there were BROWNs at newze. at all... so cool

  • Our browns came from Tasmania long ago.

  • you should see how small a stream can get with trout in it

  • thats not a small stream

  • haha

  • let me guess.... hopper patterns? You can just hear them chirping at the beginning

  • no actually: it's in the music; the beatles' sun king.

  • nice fish

  • awesome ima go tie sum flies now =)

  • ah memories, was ther in 2001, goin back for ayr in 2009,, the fishing is brilliant and its catch and release, now there is a respect for a resource, Ireland is yet to change its catch and kill policy.. but there is hope..

  • A good time of year to be there. You can keep a few fish from there if you want.

  • Where abouts you from in Ireland cause at Cavan I find ur frowned on if you take fish. Even if they are size and you're still in bag limit. I know there's still a lot of fish taken but I think that's on the decrease. I hope so any way.

  • You're allowed to take fish but we never do. We leave that for Taupo when we're catching fat, spawning hens on the Tongariro.

  • Sorry Steve. That previous comment was meant as a reply to dookie2kie re. catch and release in Ireland.

  • beautiful countryside,beautiful fish

  • Looks amazingly fun! Nice video!

  • Looks like the fish are prolific surface feeders there, Dave.

  • PLSSS someone who has a GOLDEN heart plss donate your OLD FLY FISHING ROD and a REEL !!! if you dont mind!!!

    but im in the PHILLIPINES!!!!

  • I'd love to help Jerry but all my gear is very dear to me, and I intend fishing with it for a long time.

  • Hey again! What exactly were you using for those trout anyway? Nymphs? Drys? Its a bummer, the fishing season is over where I live, now I have to live off videos like yours to get me through the winter!

  • Nymphs, dries and, at the end of the day if we've had no luck, wet flies as we make our way back to the car. Sorry to hear your season's finished. For some annoying reason it happens every year.

  • Looks like a great day of fishing. Thanks for the video. I hope you put more good days on this year, I'll be watching.

  • is the fish ing hard there?

  • Well, we're not experts and seem to catch fish so...

  • i hope your camera was water proof cause it looks like everthing is underwater at the veryend

  • It was the first test of a new waterproof digicam.

  • Beautiful and very healthy looking browns. Love the small head and football bodied fish. Looks like super technical fishing, i.e. clear slow moving water in a relatively narrow stream.

  • Thanks for your comment. We use light gear with long leaders on these streams, and we're not what you'd call experts but we get a lot of practice in! Cheers.

  • Hi mate im thinking of going into the waikato streams this weekend, is it not all year round trout fishing in the waikato?

  • Hi, the upper reaches aren't open until 1 October and close 30 June. Check the reg's for a stream's winter limit. There are fish down there!

  • cool looking browns

  • any hints on access to the moa_ _ _ _ _ _ for us?

  • Always ask the farmer!

  • this is life.. i love to fish but have never fly fished before.. caught a nice brown on a spinning combo bottom fishing with rowe..

  • Thanks for your comment. Give it a go sometime.

  • Excellent,keep them coming.

Only 6 weeks till the season opens here, not sure it will be as good as that though.

  • Thank you. Summer's arriving a bit late here but we're expecting things to improve in February. Two of us are carrying little digicams now so we should be able to post another video sometime soon.
