im so glad im related to arlo, i found out two days ago and i told my great grandma "i knew i had music in my blood!" (literally) =) i feel really fortunate now and hopefully i can meet him one day if im lucky, i just wouldnt know how to contact him
I was fortunate enough to get to meet and sit with arlo at Fitzgerald's in Houston, back in 1984. I heard Alice's Rest & City of New Orleans in the early 70's. I will never tire of the storytelling genius he inherited from his father. I was born in, & have returned to, SoCal; however, the years I spent travelin' Rte66 will forever remain memorable days, thanks to the simplicity of the people & stories of southern towns, such as Guthrie, Oklahoma. A lifetime of thanks to Woodie & Arlo !!
im 19 and im extremly gratefull my dad has taken the time to introduce me to musical legends! "Howling Wolf" opened my door to real music! from then on ive been in love with true soul jams!
i think naruto was sayin about the 2000's generation. it is crap in a disk or mp3 file. arto said it best "some things change and some things remain the same"
He was at woodstock. So let him tell it the way he sees it. Telling stories is what he does. He just happens to be a good songwriter too. Here he is, older and gray still making folks folks feel good! Many more days to you Arlo. Blessings...
i hate how he makes it out to be like if you smoke weed you trip out and that it makes you forget epic things like woodstock, pretty much your setting yourself up to be stereotyped as the "typical hippie burnout"
I love the song, but clarify "this"generation..because Ican think of 20 bands that's better. Yes, it beats rap music...boy band shit, but not mettal dude......Up The Irons
Agreed some of... no The best music did come from his generation, you have so many classics coming from the 50;s to the 80's IE, Jethro Tull, the Beatles, the Who, and so on... I wish I could have been there,
there's a thick book about Woody Guthrie, Arlo's dad. Worth reading, life was so very different when Woody was alive & young! Check it out sometime! Arlo, we love you!
Arlo Guthrie is the man and his Father Woody is a true folk Legend in fact woody guthrie was the ispiration with inarguably one of the best song writers ever... BOB DYLAN
Give me a band today that can write their own lyrics and play more than three cords...give the man respect...sorry he is not p diddy or a simple plan and the bull shit list can continue if ya like. Woodstock 69, talent before it all went to hell...love and peace.
i saw arlo a couple years ago...he was in the middle of a song (don't remember which one) and all of a sudden he's like...hang on, stop, wait, i just remembered something...and then went into this long story...so funny! it's not arlo without the stories!
You've got to see Arlo live. Hd's an amazing sstory telle and a great talent. He defenitly gives you uor monies worth and his ticket prices are reasomaable!
Like my father before me, I'm a VW Beetle-drivin' , pot-smokin' hippie & proud of it!

okaay, i'm from the 2000's generation,
and our music isn't crap.
we have good taste in music,
just different taste than the rest of you.
i bet your parent's generation thought your music was crap,
so please don't call it crap.
anyway,
arlo is absolutely amazing,
i swear i watch woodstock at least once a week,
and he's one of my favorite performers.

That basically sums it up right there. In my opinion he and his father are/ were the definers of Amerian Folk music.
