  • Like my father before me, I'm a VW Beetle-drivin' , pot-smokin' hippie & proud of it!

  • man ur a hippie, sh-t

    no one told me.

  • im so glad im related to arlo, i found out two days ago and i told my great grandma "i knew i had music in my blood!" (literally) =) i feel really fortunate now and hopefully i can meet him one day if im lucky, i just wouldnt know how to contact him

  • I was fortunate enough to get to meet and sit with arlo at Fitzgerald's in Houston, back in 1984. I heard Alice's Rest & City of New Orleans in the early 70's. I will never tire of the storytelling genius he inherited from his father. I was born in, & have returned to, SoCal; however, the years I spent travelin' Rte66 will forever remain memorable days, thanks to the simplicity of the people & stories of southern towns, such as Guthrie, Oklahoma. A lifetime of thanks to Woodie & Arlo !!

  • Great stuff.. I'm still in the 60's.

    love it..

  • im 19 and im extremly gratefull my dad has taken the time to introduce me to musical legends! "Howling Wolf" opened my door to real music! from then on ive been in love with true soul jams!

  • okaay, i'm from the 2000's generation,

    and our music isn't crap.

we have good taste in music,

just different taste than the rest of you.

i bet your parent's generation thought your music was crap,

so please don't call it crap.

    anyway,

    arlo is absolutely amazing,

i swear i watch woodstock at least once a week,

and he's one of my favorite performers.

  • i think naruto was sayin about the 2000's generation. it is crap in a disk or mp3 file. arto said it best "some things change and some things remain the same"

  • Wow, I should go see hi,,,I could find the coolest 420 MILF ever..

  • He was at woodstock. So let him tell it the way he sees it. Telling stories is what he does. He just happens to be a good songwriter too. Here he is, older and gray still making folks folks feel good! Many more days to you Arlo. Blessings...

  • That basically sums it up right there. In my opinion he and his father are/ were the definers of Amerian Folk music.

  • i hate how he makes it out to be like if you smoke weed you trip out and that it makes you forget epic things like woodstock, pretty much your setting yourself up to be stereotyped as the "typical hippie burnout"

  • Yeah, but he didn't see anything wrong with that.

  • can always count on arlo for a great story! love it!

  • Have you been to one of his concerts?

  • he never sang haha

  • dang he looks old there !! old git ! ha ha

  • He may be old but his songs beat the shit out of this generation's garbage.

  • I love the song, but clarify "this"generation..because Ican think of 20 bands that's better. Yes, it beats rap music...boy band shit, but not mettal dude......Up The Irons

  • Agreed some of... no The best music did come from his generation, you have so many classics coming from the 50;s to the 80's IE, Jethro Tull, the Beatles, the Who, and so on... I wish I could have been there,

  • there's a thick book about Woody Guthrie, Arlo's dad. Worth reading, life was so very different when Woody was alive & young! Check it out sometime! Arlo, we love you!

  • i love him

  • this is so great...

    thank you...

  • Arlo Guthrie is the man and his Father Woody is a true folk Legend in fact woody guthrie was the ispiration with inarguably one of the best song writers ever... BOB DYLAN

  • Yeah and they said the same thing about bob dylan when Woody died and passed the torch

  • haha that is cool

  • Arlo gets better with ago and yes...I was REALLY at Woodstock!

  • i LOVE it when he just you know starts with the song, then is like "when this happened, i remember..."

its so great, i love arlo!

i am the only 17 year old i know who even knows who he is :(

    but, he is my homeboy!

    :)

  • haha im 14 and its the same here. no one in my area even knows who woody is!

  • haha no way

    that is funny!!!

  • I really dislike ignorant young people. Folk singers are STORY TELLERS foremost.

This is the first song I heard of his. Amazing

  • Arlo's funny as hell! I was very glad to see him at my college.

  • Give me a band today that can write their own lyrics and play more than three cords...give the man respect...sorry he is not p diddy or a simple plan and the bull shit list can continue if ya like. Woodstock 69, talent before it all went to hell...love and peace.

  • please arrete de jacter chante

  • i saw arlo a couple years ago...he was in the middle of a song (don't remember which one) and all of a sudden he's like...hang on, stop, wait, i just remembered something...and then went into this long story...so funny! it's not arlo without the stories!

  • And to 7855waldo. Fuck you. Arlo is still on top. He's the same as he always has been.

  • Telling stories is half his act dumb ass.

  • silly

  • You've got to see Arlo live. Hd's an amazing sstory telle and a great talent. He defenitly gives you uor monies worth and his ticket prices are reasomaable!

  • but if you're going to an arlo guthrie show, you have to expect these things. i love it!

  • wheres the song arlo the comedian altho he is pretty funny

  • There is a part 2 where you will find the song. I also recently uploaded a version of the song from 1978.

  • the drugs don't work

  • You are a gift to us all. Thank you Arlo!
