That is not an 800hp Supra! Im almost sure thats 525-560whp supra! If that was 800+ supra he would have roasted those small tires! I swear I think almost everybody feels they need to lie about how much hp they have. My 6spd mk4 is making 615whp on low boost, and I still spin 315's on the rear! you can tell the supra isnt fast by the small as tires!

@24okay His logic is flawed. But the supra is by far the best bang for the buck of anything ever made in my opinion. You can buy a rolling chasis for 5 to 8 grand (na or turbo) and find a motor with all hardware needed as well as trans for 6 k long story short 20 grand for everything at most and you can pretty much beat anything on the streets. Which is more or less my current goals i own a 95 supra with 98k on it. Check back with me in a year for the finished project.

@devilwearsprada2100 It helps that you can get an SRT-4 in great shape for less than a down payment on a Supra...Stock vs stock they are dead even, both running high 13s (except at high altitude. Then the SRT-4 is a clear winner, thanks to Mopars ECU).

Funny thing about this supra is that on a real dragstrip, it would still lose to a mustang or several other cars with less than half the power. Why? Because the supra chassis is garbage, so is the rear suspension. What do the fast supras have? Gm transmissions and ford axles.

When I haven't seen a Supra go faster than 12s without a Th400, Ford 9" and a 4 link (basically a back-half car), but there are naturally aspirated 4.6L pump gas mustangs going mid 12s, which at a normal elevation would be an 11 second car. Weight kills the Supra's performance.

@pcbb01 I would ask what drugs you're on, but it's not necessary. Supra parts aren't rare in the US. The US has produced some of the worlds quickest supra's. And they all use GM transmissions and Ford axles because the Toyota stuff can't take it consistently.

@sgtjones Correction. I said a bolt on, naturally aspirated, 4.6L V8 in a 3300lb car can go low 13s. Remember, these are 9.0:1 compression engines that made all of 260hp and 302ft-lb stock. Embarassing is comparing a car with more traction stock, and 25 year advantage in chassis development, with a 2.5L Turbo engine at 1 Bar, that's basically equal to a 5.0L engine. STi is a good car, but in 1999, what did Subaru have that could beat the mustang? Nothing.

^Not really sure how a stock SRT4(230hp) is over 300hp but for 20k there are MR2's 1991-1997 205hp-225hp for $18k-$26k / ST185 RC 92-93 232hp $21.5k-$27k and thats just Toyota , early 90's STI / Evo / 180SX turbo all are with in $5K of your $20k SRT4 starting price and all have engines making around the same numbers as a SRT4 but 10yrs older. (I know inflation is a issue here)
in my OP i like the SRT4 it's cheap fun big bang for the buck but to Accelerate/Brake/Turn with 2WD :(
I'm thinking more like 230HP at the crankshaft , my buddy dyno'd his with Mopar PCM program, full 3" exhaust system, 3" DP, FMIC, Cold air intake and a adjustable wastegate actuator bring boost up from factory 12psi to 17psi and he dyno'd 260hp and 281 ft lbs of torque at the wheels , scary amount of torque for a FWD car.
If it's the 2003 model, it's because it had a problem with losing a huge amount of power above 4000RPM or so with tuning. They fixed it in the 04 model. Stock it's 230WHP; I've seen this first hand.
@Atheismrulez He has a 2005 SRT4 maybe he needs more dyno time to tune better , or some over sized cams to bring the HP up and the torque down by making his power curve steeper by advancing his cams a head a couple degrees not too sure , just seemed weird with all that boost making only 30 more HP. But your probably right .

If you haven't noticed by now, Dodge decided to underrate the horsepower figures despite the car making 260HP so it'd get lower insurance rates. The 2003 model was tested by several people and it got the same 230WHP stock, despite Dodge claiming it had 215HP. In the 05 model it was only increased by 5WHP.
i love how ppl talk shit on the srt4's.. yanno you should really do some research before talking there are NO other cars that sold for around 20k with over 300hp out of a 4 cyl. i have a 2005 stage 2 with toys with a down pipe and cai and i ran a 12.8 on street tires so dont talk shit about a 4 cyl. that runs 12's with 2 bolt ons

@devilwearsprada2100 It helps that you can get an SRT-4 in great shape for less than a down payment on a Supra...Stock vs stock they are dead even, both running high 13s (except at high altitude. Then the SRT-4 is a clear winner, thanks to Mopars ECU).

Funny thing about this supra is that on a real dragstrip, it would still lose to a mustang or several other cars with less than half the power. Why? Because the supra chassis is garbage, so is the rear suspension. What do the fast supras have? Gm transmissions and ford axles.

When I haven't seen a Supra go faster than 12s without a Th400, Ford 9" and a 4 link (basically a back-half car), but there are naturally aspirated 4.6L pump gas mustangs going mid 12s, which at a normal elevation would be an 11 second car. Weight kills the Supra's performance.

@pcbb01 I would ask what drugs you're on, but it's not necessary. Supra parts aren't rare in the US. The US has produced some of the worlds quickest supra's. And they all use GM transmissions and Ford axles because the Toyota stuff can't take it consistently.

Sorry, but a bolt on turbo kit onto a civic and what happens? It still runs high 14's. Bolt on GT mustang can go low 13s. Stock GS-R Integra is a 15 second car. Turbocharged it's low 14s. Still slower than a stock 99+ GT. Facts, not BS.

@sgtjones Correction. I said a bolt on, naturally aspirated, 4.6L V8 in a 3300lb car can go low 13s. Remember, these are 9.0:1 compression engines that made all of 260hp and 302ft-lb stock. Embarassing is comparing a car with more traction stock, and 25 year advantage in chassis development, with a 2.5L Turbo engine at 1 Bar, that's basically equal to a 5.0L engine. STi is a good car, but in 1999, what did Subaru have that could beat the mustang? Nothing.

@sgtjones Now, in all fairness, if we put a turbo on the mustang, along with some drag radials, then you could complain about the engine displacement disparity. But, let's see...10-11psi from a single turbo on a 4.6L auto GT and DRs, I've seen personally run a 10.90 1/4 mile. Stock rear gears, full interior, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'll add a Subaru to my stable soon enough, but fair is fair. And my mustang did low 13s stock in 1998, and new, cost about $8,000 less than the STi did new.

^Not really sure how a stock SRT4(230hp) is over 300hp but for 20k there are MR2's 1991-1997 205hp-225hp for $18k-$26k / ST185 RC 92-93 232hp $21.5k-$27k and thats just Toyota , early 90's STI / Evo / 180SX turbo all are with in $5K of your $20k SRT4 starting price and all have engines making around the same numbers as a SRT4 but 10yrs older. (I know inflation is a issue here)
in my OP i like the SRT4 it's cheap fun big bang for the buck but to Accelerate/Brake/Turn with 2WD :(

I'm thinking more like 230HP at the crankshaft , my buddy dyno'd his with Mopar PCM program, full 3" exhaust system, 3" DP, FMIC, Cold air intake and a adjustable wastegate actuator bring boost up from factory 12psi to 17psi and he dyno'd 260hp and 281 ft lbs of torque at the wheels , scary amount of torque for a FWD car.

If it's the 2003 model, it's because it had a problem with losing a huge amount of power above 4000RPM or so with tuning. They fixed it in the 04 model. Stock it's 230WHP; I've seen this first hand.

@Atheismrulez He has a 2005 SRT4 maybe he needs more dyno time to tune better , or some over sized cams to bring the HP up and the torque down by making his power curve steeper by advancing his cams a head a couple degrees not too sure , just seemed weird with all that boost making only 30 more HP. If you haven't noticed by now, Dodge decided to underrate the horsepower figures despite the car making 260HP so it'd get lower insurance rates. The 2003 model was tested by several people and it got the same 230WHP stock, despite Dodge claiming it had 215HP. In the 05 model it was only increased by 5WHP.
