It's called a lifter tap. I have a 2002 avalanche z71 and you need to check the oil pump and screen. I replaced mine and saved thousands on replacing lifters. Hope this helps
I have the same problem and 1/2 of it is my headers. It doesn't sound like something serious. When you get a faint knock start worring. I've been there too.
