It's true that dutch comedians(known as cabaretiers) are, on average, very energetic. Hans Teeuwen is one of the best, though his style is certainly unique. Most Dutch stand up stuff makes fun of recent events. But most of the time the reference won't hit you until much, much later.

He isn't half the comedian he is in dutch. It's still allright, but in my opinion the subtleties that make Hans such an excellent comedian are lost when he isn't speaking in his native language.

@chalkus No need to get snippy, it is always tough to "get" comedy that is vastly different when you have no idea what the comedian's career has offered to his crowds. Taking a joke out of the context of not only the show but also everything the guy has ever done, and it will often just result in puzzlement.

Personally, I still find it average, but with some more info to help me know what this guy is about, it helps greatly. Thank you, not for explaining the joke, but the comedian.

That is a shame - I was at this gig and it was a nice piece.

If you check the end of the previous vid you will notice the blur of some guy wearing a striped jumper getting up out of his seat. Hans stopped him and had a bit of chat, demanding that this young lad (who we discovered is called Thijs) get him a beer. Hans chatted to the audience for a while and Thijs came back with his beer - hence the bottle of beer you see in his hand at the start of this vid.
