  • your cams hearing is incretible this isa great vid tnx fr puting this up lov the vid

  • @KeepEuropeWhite Maybe you'd be interested articles from ClanChiefs dotcom site. Visit the Articles tab and read in full the "Presentation by Robert McWilliam at Clan Convention" and the talk titled "Blood or Land?" The latter one was very interesting to me considering the differing perspectives of Clan members throughout the world butregardless of if we are part of Clan by "blood or land" or even ideal, we're still connected by Scots Clan. In many ways, America is more Scottish than we realize

  • @Eloaene ok. well obviously there's difference of oppinion here, which I'll respect but I'm sure if you actually visit the site, of whom certain out-standing members of are supported for the purpose of, by Prince Charles, you might begin to see things otherwise.Sure the clans aren't political, but they still have their purpose which is told at that site. They still have meetings at the Scottish Parliment and they are still upheld /federally enforced laws concerning clans by the Lord Lyon etc.

  • with 'perspectives' like the one shared by scottishcaledonia, you've just communicated to every North American that unless they are Native Indian they have no true identity, no heritage, no traditions, nothing.. we're all just homeless, orphaned nobody's because we weren't BORN in the Homeland? Well I'm only 1/8th Indian and that's not enough to be one of theirs, so I guess I just have to forget about the rest of my blood since I wasn't born there...I'm adopted AND a nobody by blood. GREAT.

  • @scottishcaledonia - you should rather, be proud to have a people who have such skill at survival and ingenuity and hard work and dignity that they were able to go to the lengths that it took to make a new life for themselves outside of Scotland and still hang on to those beloved traditions of their Homeland.

  • @scottishcaledonia - most disrespectful comment to all Scots living abroad. Many Scots living abroad come from families who were forced either by the Hieland Clearances or by the English to move overseas.. Some Scots who were fighting for YOUR freedoms in Scotland were forced to labor and serve English colonies in America and their families are still here. I can't believe you'd so brazenly abandon people of your own blood who may have had little or no choice in the matter.

  • What was the name of the song ?

  • @CraftyNightStalker I really couldn't say.

  • @CraftyNightStalker Bonnie Dundee......I think.

  • @CraftyNightStalker Bonnie Dundee

  • @CraftyNightStalker Bonnie Dundee

  • @CraftyNightStalker The tune is called Bonnie Dundee it is honour of Sir John Graham of Claverhouse who although having signed the covenant of Scotland supported the Stuart Kings

  • Bonnie Dundee

  • What was the song ?

  • Amazing.Thanks

  • i plan to visit scotland in the fall where in england is it?

  • @ramies37 0/10

  • Call me not a Scot then, good fellow, but my roots are in Scotland and to an American (whether you love us or hate us), we all came from elsewhere unless we're pureblooded Indian.

God bless your country and mine.

  • How silly to see people arguing about who's Scottish and who's not. I'm American and my ancestors on my father's side were from Scotland, and my father played in a pipe band. But I'm not Scottish. I'm American. But I do love the pipes with every fiber of my being. No one can take that from me. That being said, long live Scotland, and long live America!!

  • The people of Scotland have been diverse since the beginning. From Celts and Picts to Danes and Norwegians and others too. Scotland was a diverse land of many individual kingdoms, languages and peoples with their own cultures and beliefs that eventually forged into one nation. Purists best take a look at their own lineage before they trod on anyone else.

  • @ZeitgeistWI " Purists best take a look at their own lineage before they trod on anyone else. "

You are not listening you fucking idiot. The scots are NOT a race of people, they are not defined as a race through antrhopology, or any definition of race.

The scots are racially the same as any other northern european. There is no difference between an englishman, irishman, scotsman or german etc.

You cannot be scottish because you have a scottish ancestor. the scots are a cultural group.

  • The "Scots" did not even become known as "Scottish" until after the Gaels, the Norwegians, the Picts and others were absorbed into a national identity and a single people. Of course they aren't a "race" who ever said they were a race? Saying that someone who has Scottish ancestry is not "Scottish" is pure snobbery no matter whatever else you want to paint is as.

  • @ZeitgeistWI 'Saying that someone who has Scottish ancestry is not "Scottish" is pure snobbery"

Its not snobbers, it is only snobbery to you because you dont agree with how we scots view ourselves and others. The fact is that I and all my fellow scots that I know dont regard you as Scottish.

Their is absolutely no difference between yuo and say an american with german ancestors. it would be impossible to distinguish between you, because you are both still american, culturally american etc

  • @ZeitgeistWI There is no such thing as scottish blood, what is scottish blood, is it blue ?

You are racially caucasian (northern european subset) and culturally american. Just as I am racially caucasian (north european subset) and culturall scottish because I am from scotland.

Are you actually telling us scots what makes someon scottish. You are just a wannabe, we have to put up with fucking idiot yanks like you all the time, desperately trying to be one of us. You are not and never will be

  • Why not? Scots like you seem to want to tell me what I am. I would say that turn about was fair play. I am not a "wannabe". I find nothing redeeming in someone like you enough to make me want to emulate them or be like them. Narrow minded, opinionated sack of wind that you are. And as for being like you, don't even get me started.

  • Video is great! As to the conversation, it's amazing that an argument between Scots ensues over this? I have pictures & journals from my great-grandparents who came here (USA) from Aberdeenshire on my mother's side and from Ireland on my father's. I'm extremely proud of both. Who's to say whether I'm Scots or Irish.. because of where I live?? It's my God-given right (just as you have yours) to feel extreme pride in my heritage and know where the blood comes from that flows through my veins.

  • Here, here! Finally, someone who speaks sense! I am so sick of these "purists" who put us down because maybe we live somewhere other than Scotland proper. I am proud of my Scottish ancestry and heritage and if that offends some purist well then they can just kiss my plaid backside! Purists are just jealous because we preserve and celebrate the Scotland they never knew and cannot know because the men and women from whom we come brought it with them!

  • @ZeitgeistWI "Purists are just jealous because we preserve and celebrate the Scotland they never knew and cannot know"

You know NOTHING about Scotland because you are not Scottish and you dont come from scotland, you were not raised here, you do not live here. All you know is stupid stereotypes, false misrepresentations and disney esque plastic scottish culture.

How the fuck can you say you no more about scottish culture than the scots. Where the fuck do you get that audacity.

  • No, I know absolutely nothing about Scotland whatsoever. Have relatives there, Been there several times but I know nothing about the land or the people. And as to knowing more about Scottish culture, I never said that I did. What I said was that we celebrate an older Scottish culture than what you know that was preserved and passed down through generations. If you're going to slight someone, at least get your facts straight.

  • @ZeitgeistWI "No, I know absolutely nothing about Scotland whatsoever"

I was born in scotland, bred in scotland, I have lived in Scotland every second and breath of my life.

Your statment simply means nothing. you are not even from scotland, you fucking PRICK.

  • @ZeitgeistWI stop telling people who are scottish, and are from scotland. That they know nothing about scotland. It is a ridiculous contradiction.

And the truth is that the scots would not consider you scottish. like it or not, you are and only would be considered american. stop pretending your somthing your not.

Your walter smitty behaviour is bizzare and ridiculous to us. you are indeed a 'wannabe'

  • We see and hear comedians on tv saying European's are "snooty". To those who say we can't be proud of our heritage only proves that maybe the "snooty" label is correct. I've traced my Scottish family line back over 900 years, my ancestors fought with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. My clan's lands bordered on the Wallace clan's lands. I have even discovered that my "clan" was of Norman origin, and not one word of what anyone says will make a difference to how I feel about my heritage.

  • Stick to your guns! Purists are just wankers with nothing better to do and if the blood of my forefathers runs in my veins, then I pay no attention to those who would call me less than a Scot just because I don't stroll down a street in Edinburgh. Pride knows no boundaries. Unfortunately, neither does being an ass! Ignore the ignorant and be proud of who you are and from whom you come!!

  • Speak for yourself, scottishcal. This "pure bred" Scot raised and living in Scotland welcomes anyone with Scottish blood no matter how "watered down" Many people need and love to have an identity with their past. Scots are known for their hospitality and people like you are a poor advert for our beautiful, tiny country.

  • @Scotsbell Oh fuck off scotsbell, the vast majority of scots do not consider american ith scottish ancestors as 'scots' and you know it.

  • @scottishnationalist Hmm, standard response from a foul mouthed moron who doesn't read posts properly and is indeed a perfect expample of the type of Scots who let our country down. Now go and wash your mouth out with soap and learn some manners, although I expect the latter is too late in your case.

  • @Scotsbell If you think I am being foul, you really need to grow some thicker skin for christ sake.

  • @ OOjiBoy ...SO let me get this clear... 3 of my 4 sets of Great Grandparents were Scottish, the other grandparent who came into play had one Scottish parent. So7of8 Great grandparents came from Scotland with one Irishman in there. Yet I am not Scottish.

Perhaps I am Malasian, maybe Japanese then. You Sir are...either a joke or an aspiring commedian. Either way...don't give up your dayjob.

  • knubbelkeks69, ignore idiots who say you aren't Scottish. The blood in your veins, the feelings in your soul and the pride in your heart is all that matters and if some idiots with too much time on their hands want to berate you for being proud of from whom you come, let em. If ignorance were bliss, they would be in a state of constant ectasy!

  • @ZeitgeistWI Who are you to contradict and lecture us Scots in how we define ourselves and others. We simply do not regard you as Scottish, you are not a Scot so stop speaking on our behalf and stop intruding into our identity.

Having lived in Scotland ever second of my life, I cant begin to explain how ridiculous it is listening to an American proclaim that they are Scottsh, you simply are not.

    You are an American

  • @scottishnationalist...

I too am of scottish descent but born in Ireland. I'd be glad to have you here and tell me to my face that I am not scottish! People who can trace their ancestry back 500 years and find some scottish - ok. But we're talking about families ehre who migrated in the past 200 years. One can have more national pride for the country of ones ancestors than for the one he/she lives in. Fact of life - You got scottish ancestors then you're a bloody Scot and better be proud of it!

  • @knubbelkeks69 Having scottish ancestors does not make you a Scot.

  • Americans are not scottish, regerdless of whther they have scottish ancestors or not.

  • I am with Zeitgeist on this one. I too am of Scottish descent and am proud of it. I think it is ridicules that some people take offence to the fact that a large population in America and Canada Identify with Scottish heritage. My family came to America in search of freedoms that did not exist in Scotland, so I will continue to celebrate my blood line and if you dont like it, you can piss off!

  • Scots need to be united wherever they hail from or whatever there primary national identity is. I am in the United States and consider myself an American and I am also fiercely proud of my Scottish roots so go piss up a rope! My people came from the Highlands after the Clearances so don't sit there all high and mighty because you're still there and we aren't. Some relative of yours probably made a deal to save their ass for a few coins while selling someone out so think on that for a moment.

  • Seems to me that the people who piss and moan so much about how we across the pond aren't Scots are the ones who long forgot what it mean to have pride in your heritage and know where you came from and from whom you are descended. Knocking us who don't live in Scotland proper is about as assanine a thing as any I can think of. With the declining birth rate among "real Scots" I would think you would be exstatic over the number of people who claim Scottish ancestry and revel in celebrating it.

  • Zietgeist the fact is that you are not scottish you are americna. And we Scots do not recognize or consider you as scottish.

You were not brough up in scottish culture with scottish people in scottish society. scotland is a foreing land to you and you are a foreigner to us.

You are not a scot living in a distant land you are an american living in america.

  • We invented the Scottish Highland bagpipes which are the most commonly used today.

Next you'll be saying we didn't invent tartan, kilts and clans!!!

I'm Scottish, and you're a fucking idiot, so watch your mouth.

    Scottish & Proud

I'm proud of our Canadian and American brothers who celebrate their TRUE culture and herritage.

    Greetings from Scotland.

  • Sorry to dissapoint you chadstur1991 I don't swing that way so watch someone else's mouth!

  • I'm sorry...I'm not a dick, you must have me mixed up with your mother.

  • All you people who live in Scotland and say that people who live elsewhere with Scottish heritage are not Scottish should know this. The bagpipes are NOT Scottish, they were introduced by the ROMANS when they conquered Britannia; the pipes originated in Africa or the Middle East.

  • the highland bagpipes are fucking scottish you dick. The scotsa did not invent bagpipes, however the bagpipes you see in the video are uniquely scottish and nothing like the bagpipes in rome or the ancient middle east.

  • We never said we invented the bagpipes.

and for the record if you are not from scotland, you are not scottish.

having scottish ancestors does not make you scottish.

  • My Grandparents came from Scotland, I'm of Scottish descent! So what about all the people who celebrate St. Patrick's Day, who's ancestors settled in North America; does this mean they aren't permitted to celebrate it anymore? Really I don't understand the logic.....what's wrong with being proud of your roots?

    A bheil Gàidhlig agaibh?"

  • "does this mean they aren't permitted to celebrate it anymore"

dont put words in my mouth, I didnt say that.

I am saying you are not scottish however.

  • I'm not saying I'm Scottish either, I'm Canadian! I am of Scottish Descent!!!!!

  • Oh really

did you read the history good

    prove it ?

  • "Read the history good", whatever that means. I find it humerous that there are people still crying over this debate. Get a life will ya.

  • and you stop being a baby

and you get a life not me

i have a life and great history

what a about you where are you from ?

  • I wish I was there. great vid.

    I hate no one.

  • All I know is that playing the pipes are fun

any bicering should done over a few pints.

    Cheers

  • I don't know why every pipe music clip has to have so many hateful comments underneath. Its high time all people of european descent dropped their petty differences and stopped hating one another when there are millions of muslims to hate!

  • Comment removed

  • fab

  • Dear aluminati- Get a grip child. don't take the world quite so seriously. Your lectures are boring and demonstrate your self inportance.

  • There must be such a thing as racial memory. Born in US only 1/4 Scot but this instrument stirs me like no other. I fully understand how our forbears could go into battle against the Brits with only pitch forms and axe handles.

  • having scottish parents doesn not make you scottish, nor does being born in scotland. to be scottish you must have been raised in scotland at an age early enough so that you personality and character are shaped by scotlands - culture, people, language, dialect, beliefs, ideology, sense of inward and outward perceptions, philosophy, politics, worldview, perspectives etc. without these you cannot be scottish. I know for a afact thsat the VAST majority of scots share my view.

  • This may be true, but you cannot deny the heritage that Scots not born in Scotland may have. I am only 1/4 Scot, but am still very proud of my heritage and truly love Scottish culture.

  • Utter rubbish. Put three Scots in a room and you'll have three different opinions and probably broken furniture. Point to one single moment in our history where we had a shared, common ideology or even language. Scotland's diversity and passion made us what we are, not some cloning factory.

  • @Gaudd

    There'd be broken furniture alright

  • 100% agread. mon the scots.....SCOTLAND FOREVER....

  • im scottish so i would say dont hate me for this but thats would ruin my point

    the scots hate the english

    the scots hate the irish

    the scots hate the welsh

and the scots hate the scots aww yea were just that awesome (H)

and i believe your ancestory should count for somethin but it doesnt make you scottish

  • I am a scottish nationalist, and I like the english and have many english friends.

However, I agree with the statment that scottish ancestors does not make you scottish. you are only scottish if you are from scotland.

  • Does being an Ulster Scot count, Cause im proud of any Scottish blood that flows through my veins.

  • You are NOT 100% rish. the irish are not a race of people and are not defined as a race through anthropology. Therefore you CANNOT be irish through ancestry. The irsh are a culture of people seperated from other europeans by geography, culture, community, behavioural traits etc.

You are NOT irsh racially, because the rsh are not a race you are racially caucasian. and your culture s american.

so stop calling yourself fucking irish - YOU ARE NOT

  • @scottishcaledonia say what u wish but even though i wasnt born there deep down inside im a scotsman and not u or any body else can change that

  • @viper90988 your not a scotsman, your a wannabe

  • @kingdomofdalriada i didnt mean i was a scotsman what i was trying to say was the scottish blood runs in me and i have every right to take pride in it

  • @viper90988 There is no such thing as Scottish blood, racially, the english, irish, welsh and scots are the exact same people.

It is culture, ethnicity, society and identity that seperates the scots, english, welsh and irish.

  • @scottishcaledonia .. Actually :L Being Scottish is when your Born in scotland :L?

  • @JIMMYJEE WEhat if you were born on a boat on the atlantic ocean ?

    Use your head you idiot.

  • v v v v v v v v cooooool

Im from kuwait ..... we have some thing like

    this Instruments ... butttttttt... not

    like this feeeeeeeeeeling

    thanks for this clip...............

  • Brilliant, Long Live the Queen -

  • absolutly spine tingling ...awsem

  • big up fergus

  • i could listen to bagpipes forever and ever

  • lol, its not like any onther instrument, but i never could find any songs:P got any suggestions?

  • annoying

  • I don't think I have any scottish in my blood either, but I love the sound of bagpipes. I think its the droning constant sound of air underneath, that neverending note. I feel it's like the 'OM" of the Indian tradition. It's like the sound of the world singing along with the bagpipes. The world or God or what all. Scientists say the Earth does "Sing" a super low note at all times. A frequency...anyway

  • well said mate. I agree! All celts love bagpipes.

  • To OrangeRay3, it may be the Schuman frequency you have read of.

Great sounds on the video. Some event heh ?

Drone sound of the hurdy gurdy is a little similar effect i find.love it.

  • Theres one of these events on Saturday July 20 in cambridge. Solo pipers, solo competition, massed pipe bands and pipe band competition, and highland games of course

  • native american born, not my culture, but yet is my culture too....i adore the bagpipe.....

  • I am not of Scottish ancestry, but a pipe band always stirs me. I've always loved bagpipe music, and I wish they had a massed band event nearer to me.

  • Whilst the bigotry and hatred will always remain and a shame to see. Being a native Scot, there is an almost indivisble line between the extremes of pride/honour/patriotism and pure hatred! For those that understand, no further explanation needed! The dividing factor is that hatred has its limits!! An obvious reflection on the haters being severely limited in most respects, the comments to follow will probably prove this!!

  • I am an arab but god knows that I love this honorble music. I feel that i can face 7 armies when i hear it.

  • im in the cadet band in the first set of bands on im tenor yaya

  • the band on the end was the one i was in yay!!

  • for gods sake if your ancestry was from scotland dont allow any dickhole who says you cant be scottish , tell them go get stuffed ,from a native born scot , you are the same as i of scottish descent stuff them all , Duncan

  • Because English history is full of war criminals and cunts in general....

  • It amazes me that, both in the US, and Canada, that Irish & Scottish heritage is so widely celebrated. Why don't, English Americans'/Canadians' show the same pride? Oh I forgot, they speak our language, what a lasting testament. I suppose the minor elements that built the British Empire have got to grab a hold of something.

  • okay well in the u.s there 2 kinds of people...cunt ass bitches and people that hate cunt as bitches

  • b-e-a-utiful

  • Wie GEIL, HAMMER!!! I love this Music, nice!!! Militär Style!!! :)

  • Anyone disputing Scotborn's heritage should have a look at his/her Ian Huntley jokes here on youtube. You'll see what a cultured and worthy individual Scotborn is. A really nice person.

  • Anyone disputing Scotborn's heritage should have a look at his/her Ian Huntley jokes here on youtube. You'll see what a cultured and worthy individual Scotborn is. A really nice person. I'll post this up top for returning viewers, Scotborn. OK?

  • What a great video. It takes me back to childhood memories of our local hgihland games. The massed band was always my favorite part. It still makes my heart swell with pride. As for all of that below, Scotborn and I will just have to agree to disagree. If someone asks me what I am, I will answer the same I always have. I'm American... a proud Socttish American.

  • Good for you Jrsy. Most Scots are nicer than that Elitest Scotborn. Anyway, great tunes. Gotta love the massed bands. They sure played Bonnie D. fast! I can't play it that fast that well...

  • Now see, that's a big difference. I've never called myself a Scot. I wouldn't imply that I'm from Scotland. However, I do call myself Scottish, implying that a great deal of my heritage comes from Scotland. If that's the distinction you want to make, fine. But that's not what you've been saying. "you are ONLY scottish if you were raised in scotland..." to quote. Big difference as far as I'm concerned.

  • That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying I consider myself Scottish American because I have direct ties with the country and a better than average (at the very least) understanding of the culture, the dialect, etc. Yes, I'm American too. Oddly enough, you CAN be both. And be proud of both. I'm intensely proud of my heritage. And it's great that other people are too. Why try to deny someone their heritage no matter how far back it goes? They're celebrating a great nation, YOUR nation.

  • I'm proud to consider myself a Socttish American. Who are you to try to tell anybody that they shouldn't celebrate their heritage? And more than just my ancestors are Scottish, my living family is as well. Now, no more wasted breath on someone as undeserving as yourself. I just hope you learn to open your eyes. I pity you. By the way, would you like to explain to my family how I'm not Scottish? How I don't deserve to be?

  • You can be Scottish without having been born in Scotland, you ignorant ass! I'm from the States but my dad was born AND raised in Glasgow. Myself and 10 of my cousins are the only ones born in the US. In fact, most of the fam. still lives throughout Scotland. I grew up learning of Scottish history, going to the festivals, and in all other ways being proud of my heritage. Are you going to tell me I'm not Scottish because I wasn't born there? That elitist attitude certainly isn't Scottish!

  • I find it funny how some ppl think of scottish ppl as "big, hairy, red headed, filthy ppl" but as soon as they hear the music scotland produces they are nearly in tears of the beauty and passion behind each individual note. just makes me laugh how they think that way

  • Servus,

i´ve been only once in Scotland and I can say that these people are great and full of love and they help each other. We ´ve been stuck with our car and the first car who passt us stopped and helped us out. I like the scottish people and i look forward to be in their country again.

    with kind regards

    Jan, German

  • What's this fuss all about, you Scottish people think you are like an elite ''thing'' or something. I love this Scottish music but if people in Scotland are like you people i would never go there. I have maybe Celtic heritage but that doesn't mean i will immediately behave like an asshole. I'm from former Yugoslavia and according to Wikipedia there are places in Serbia and Bosnia who have their name from Celtic ancestry. But i am proud of being someone from the Balkans. Because we have culture.

  • Scotborn is just pissed because the best pipers are now from Canada !

  • wow that is impressive, never seen so many pipers and drummers...all the festivals I've been to, it was just a handful, but this is truly a sight to see and hear!

  • Fergus is widely regarded as one of the biggest and best Scottish festivals in the world...including those which take place in Scotland.

If you're of Scottish birth or heritage, you need to visit Fergus during the Festival at least once in your life. Remarkable event.

  • Iam so very proud to be Scottish. Yes sir.

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the tune being played?

  • Bonnie Dundee

  • thanks

  • last one is Scotland the Brave..aye...nay one kin pleh the pipes like aye Canucks kin yay?...

  • I can. Theres no need to type like that btw, I have a strong scottish accent but i dont type like a retard who cant speaking english. Dont give us scots a bad name.. ken?

  • the next one is called Wings

  • In order Bonnie Dundee and Wings. Massed Bands played Glendaruel Highlanders and Scotland the Brave! Source: former Pipe Corporal-Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada(Princess Louises)

  • good music I must say
