I don't see why everyone says 'songs by The Smiths can't be covered properly'. The idea of a cover is that you put your own spin on it, thereby rendering the idea of a 'proper' cover completely moot. I love this version, and I personally think that Deftones managed to improve it, although I don't think that was really difficult because I never loved The Smiths' version that much.

This is nothing without Johnny Marr's guitar. Great lyrics and just a cacophony of sound with this. The Smiths are one of those bands that just can't be covered properly.
