  • People all over the world underestimated the Linux platform for a long time now, describing it as UNIX's illegitimate son!! Yet large companies and organizations are deploying it largely in a huge divisions and sectors, especially in main frames, database severs, security management servers, render farms and many; many more, such companies are Google, NASA, ILM, Digital Domain, Bank of America, City Bank and thousands of other companies, though I'm a Mac user!!

  • They should both just shut down then Linux hops in like, "LOLOLOL I'M LINUX, L33T H4X FOR TEH WIN!"

  • what does PC mean by "I was here first"? Wasn't Mac first home computer?

  • @kwaig0n Actually UNIX was the first system with a graphical desktop and a mouse, it came out about 5 years before the first Version of Windows. Mac and Linux are based on UNIX.

  • Linux is...okay

  • For gaming purposes, I just dual boot. It's actually quite easy. Just take a windows computer and put a Linux install disk in. The only games I play are usually short and lightweight (Just beat American Mcgee's Alice) so I only have 25% on my windows partition. Although sim city should run fine with Wine. As for everything non-gaming, there is replacements that are, in my opinion, for better than the two hundred dollar versions.

  • I would switch but I want to know if all my vista games (ex: sim city) will run on linux

  • @MrLoganDunleavy most certainly, you just need to install WINE Windows compatibility layer on Linux :)

  • Have you tried linux at all, if i didnt need to rely on photoshop cs4 for windows i would switch to ubuntu in a heartbeat

  • gimp is gud and does about 90% if things photoshop does but it's no photoshop :p

    i use both.

  • yea ive used gimp but with cs4's improvements from cs3 and that my school uses it, it only makes sense to use it lol

and i just prefer it also

  • Actually, you can run Photoshop with Wine.

  • Since Novell made this ad it might have Microsoft proprietary video pixels in it.

    Watch out.

  • lol.. well said..

i don't know why there are two thumb downs on ur comment..

  • I guess people don't like Novell x Windows jokes.

I thought it was funny. Proprietary pixels... heh.

  • why did this get down thumbed?

  • That's a good question. Novell and Microsoft have kind of a strange relationship, and some people don't trust Novell, but I guess 3 people don't want to admit that.

  • Cute Linux girl!

  • Well, there are also black swans! Why not such female Linux users? But if you know the median...

  • How long have you been standing there?

    ...Long time...

    LOLGASMIC

    30 years

  • Pretty amazing since the kernel is like .. ? 17?

  • oh yeah it is :)

  • Linux is hot ^^

  • anything is not a valid command, and linux is not a valid file.

  • 30 million is in relation to machines that run linux, meaning that since most servers are linux there is prob only like 3 million ish, maybe even 1

  • Add to that the fact that most Linux users also use another OS.

Where did they get that number from anyway?

  • MACs and Pc is are hardware and Linux is a software. Macs OsX is Linux based anyways. This is dumb as hell.

  • Mac OS X is based on UNIX, not on Linux. Linux is not Unix. Linux is a Unix-like system, Mac OS X is a Unix based system.

  • i didn't know that. My bad.

  • Now you know then. :) No one got hurt.

  • technically OSX is a modified version of freeBSD.

OSX, windows, and XP would be the correct comparison.

  • You're correct. Wikipedia: "Darwin forms the core set of components upon which Mac OS X was developed." and "Darwin is composed of code developed by Apple along with code derived from NEXTSTEP, as well as from FreeBSD and other free software projects."

  • 30 million linux users is alittle inaccurate.. Even if so, the Mircosoft site estamates 2 billion microsoft users world wide, and 180 million in the USA. Mac, I am not sure, but I do know they are 2% of the world market, so 2% of 6.3 billion is 126 million. pOor linux.

  • I doubt the starving people in africa would want a computer. Even a Linux. ;)

  • 30 million linux users, hahahaha, they must be counting the people that use kiosks at the grocery store, thats such bs

  • I like windows.....its cool.......but I also like linux......never used mac

  • Jesus, THIS! is a reason to take Linux... nice one ;-)

  • Man! This linux is smokin!!!

  • I can only hope that Linux both sux and swallows.

  • quoted for truth

  • Linux sux.

  • You say that because ur too stupid to use Linux. But that's an common problem with "switchers". They used to the unefficient and "clickybunty" windows things.

    BTW: This ad is great^^

  • cool, we just founded a new religion. The Micro-churche, the members believe everything the marketing department of microsoft says.

  • ...nice. You spelled church wrong.

  • thanks for the hint... but when you never tempted linux, then how you now that is sux.

and if it is a fact that microsoft is so superior why microsoft is bothering us with publicity who say linux is non good?

your post is a perfect answer of a believing sect member...

i use all tree systems, all system has his pro and contra. peace :)

PS: sorry for all typos, i speak also more then one language.

  • Heheh, you sound like a fuckin caveman.

  • Man...I guess I'll have to start "Interfacing" with Linux, she's hot! LOL :)

  • Yes, I've seen these videos before.

They're great, since they chose to portray Linux by a woman, and the other computers by men, which could only mean the two men are interested in her (Linux). It's very nicely done :) Kudos to the makers.
