  • One hell of ah performance, the entire ensemble along w/ Mr. Vanneli were INCREDIBLE!

  • I Had All His Music!...It was Great Then! and even Greater Now!..{TIMELESS}

    Great Music Will Never Die!

  • Gino is nothing but Sexy Smooth Italian Soul on this song! - Gelato!

  • Awesome performance!

  • Nice fro. I'm going to grow one like him.

  • OMG what a beautiful man saw him 3 times in concert incredible everytime i visit his sites offen jusy need to feel his music....

  • Oh

    My

    God

    How do they play!

Agradeço por existir no you tube.

  • Saw him @ The Forum in LA around '78 or '79 he was also in white outfit...great concert...i was by myself but sat right next to these two LA girls and hooked up with them and partied all night long...what a blast..luv the 70's...

  • YES......YES.......THE VANNELLI BROTHER'S MUSIC STICKS IN YOUR HEAD FOR EVER AND EVER AND EVER.........THERE IS NO ATHER FAMILY ON THIS PLANET HO APPROACH MUSIC LIKE THEY DO..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • true rare artist. there will never be another. He realized the compositoin was the most important thing of all. he didn't have to sing in every bar like most singers

  • Yeah, could've been FT Wth, I was 18 at the time and went to several concerts during that time at both Dallas & Ft Wth conv cntrs. However, when I saw him, he came out wearing #33 Tony Dorsett's jersey. Minuita, I know. The point being, Gino and his band (then and now) are awesome. I was hooked in the early 70's when I heard People Gotta Move. Mega fan ever since.

  • Actually his concert was in Ft.Worth, not Dallas..i remember we drove there @ Ft.Worth convention center...just sayin., when he came out in Rogers Staubaugh's jersey #12., i was 17 yrs. and crazy in love with Gino!

  • Yeahhhhhh!!!

  • He must've been using DOOGRO! on his CHEST too

  • I saw this concert in Dallas, TX in '78. I was a freshman in college. I had bought this album (added to my other 4 Gino albums) and literally listened to it every single day for over a year. I was so blown away (after they finally added guitar to the mix) that I could'nt stop listening in awe. Brother to Brother is and always will be my favorite song. Craney is a friggin beast.

  • and what is with the sisters?

  • gino has been one of my favs since the 70's the Brother to Brother album is classic YEAH

  • musicalement superbe, bravo gino Dan du québec

  • Yes it is Mark Craney. I saw him live with Jethro Tull in 1980 in Minneapolis. He was unbelievable playing a different lick every bar. Check out Tull's A album and tour for some more of his great playing.

  • What a wake up. Peace

  • Still unmatched!...... Gino and crew....see ya in Windsor:o)

  • The reason Gino Vannelli had and continues to have great drummers is because he is a percussionist himself and arranges his music. He and his brother Joe are completely underrated musical visionaries of modern music.

  • The whole Brother to Brother album kills

  • terrific drumming!! always smooth and clean!!!

  • this is the funniest dude ever! I like this song though his moves had me weak....I love it!!!!!

  • He's a genius - that's all I have to say. They have so much energy on that stage.

  • A Masterpiece !!!

  • This is one of those rare songs I could call "Epic"

It's only a few minutes long , but it feels like you've just watched Lord of the Rings after it! (in a good way, I must add!)

  • I reckon that those who dislike this don't actually like music at all- or maybe they just didn't like the chest hair?

  • Gino trancended colorlines and genre boxes. He and his brother were deep in the zone bringin it hard, He has some new music out. His voice is still amazing

  • Awesome....Jazz.....Rock....Smoothness.....simply love it.

  • This is a REAL rock with jazz flavour! Such a genuis rhythm and heaven harmony

  • @chillinjazZ I agree with you chillinjazz....It has a wonderful funky, jazzy flavor with rock overtones. Does that sound ok? The vocals are great. I wish we could live in peace and I hate the devil!!! I wish the world was so full of love, the devil couldn't stay here at all and GOD would smile on all of us.

  • I have heard this song about 7300 times (20 years x 365 -once per day) and it's still my favourite song and it sounds so fresh and catchy!!! I do adore it!

  • Like a fasr car ride with no top in an empty city

  • Gino's chest hair alone..should garner him a Juno or two..LOL..

  • MJ WHO?!

  • 4 people with Parkinson's, by mistake, disliked this...

When is this disease going to be cured?!?!

Gino is my white Stevie Wonder, i adore them both!!!

  • GINO RULES! ONE OF THE GREATEST SONG WRITERS EVER! HIS BODY OF WORK SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! DON'T HATE THE FACT THAT EVERY WOMEN IN THE WORLD WANTED TO BE WITH HIM, ON TOP OF THE FACT HE IS INCREDIBLY TALENTED,JUST ENJOY HIS WONDERFULL MUSIC

  • @jfsgro Robert Plant may have been a 10 in the 70's but Gino was a 11...lol.

  • The most awesome singer and musicians ever!!!

  • This is peformance....this is music!! Blows me away. At the 5:00 Fwwwwuuuck....awesome. There's one car that fits this kind of music. An Alfa Romeo 169!!

  • intense and serene at the same time..

    Great music..

  • No one puts on shows like this anymore. (Except maybe Vegas....) Everything is so scaled down anymore. Bands, stage sets, everything. Except ticket prices. How I long for the days with elaborate shows like Gino and Toto.

  • All-time favorite. Awesome !!!

  • I yearn for an era when chest hair really meant something!

  • Why hasn't Gino Vanelli been inducted to the Canadian Walk of Fame? Come on Canada...even your southern neighbors recognize he should be there. Get it together?

  • Is this Carlos Rios on guitar ?

  • I have literally driven blocks out of my way to listen to this entire song on the way home. The new arrangement on Best & Beyond is amazing, too.

  • the one and only..my all time fave and MOST talented of all...ginooooooooooooo

  • They sure....Don't do it like they used to! Damn...and a Man with a hairy chest...oh yes!

  • I loved this song...GO GINO!!! :D

  • ¡Increíble versión de esta rolita!

  • Ah I loved this song as a kid! So badass \m/

  • Look at his expressiveness (?) at 4:31... now go and find "Black Cars" and at approx 1:49, you can tell that he hasn't lost a beat. just close your eyes, and it's all the same. Gino Vannelli for the next Grey Cup! try again around 7:20... fantastic....

  • I saw this concert, as it passed through Detroit....I think every Canadian, that lived in Windsor, across the Detroit river, was there...we had a HELL, of a time and the smell of doobies added a unforgettable edge....Gino, was the MAN...!!!

  • Folks, we need to finally get Gino inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame. Go to the Canada Walk of fame web site and nominate him for 2011. It takes a few minutes. Long overdue.

  • Seen this show in Kansas city @ Memorial Hall - I'll never forget it ! ! It was the best group of musicians I've ever seen to this day.....and I've seen hundreds of concerts..TRULY AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • they signed....

  • That was NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!! I've always loved this song and will always love. What happened to our music these days. The groups and solo artist can't even compare to the days of old.

  • superb ,jazz ,this song envolves every thing ,the bass ,the the guitar stuff is over the

top.Glad this is preserved our pleasure and amasement .

    Go Gino V

  • Gino Vanelli should have been the halftime show at the Superbowl, not the Black Eyed Peas.

  • @NowhereMan1966 4 SHO ~~~~~

  • You have no idea how difficult that guitar solo is to play over those Jazz changes that was great fusion playing Carlos! Ross Vannelli on Keyboards plays mean inversions.

  • eccezionale, io ho sempre avuto un debole per gino vannelli-quì era al top del jazzrock o fusion proprio una band al gran completo-mi dispiace per dopo.....però ha lasciato bei capolavori

  • The drummer is awesome !

  • You can tell Gino was influenced by James Brown by his on-stage demeanor.

  • Amazing!!!

  • THIS IS DEFINITELY LIVE AND UNCUT!

  • How it was done back then. 15 piece bands, lead guitarists with Afros and mustaches. Gino rules.

  • This guitar solo (2.55 - 3.35) is KILLING, who's on guitar?! Hired Guns?

  • @Zaynidin i belive it's Carlos Rios!

  • @Zaynidin Daryl Stuermer

  • The definition of talent. Grew up to that awesome music. Love it forever.

  • My god! I never get tired of watching this! Pure musicianship.

  • BRILLIANT MUSIC, POWERFUL VOCALS,POWERFUL MESSAGE, ASTRONOMICAL BAND....I FEEL BAD FOR TODAYS GENERATION IN MUSIC....GINO FOREVER!!!!

  • Damn... I wish Our mainstream music of our generation was still like this, everything is Full of Texture from the Singers, guitarist, keyboardist right down to the Drummer and all it's so Perfectly made. Rock on \m/ Gino and Joe! :D

  • You sure that wasn't Vinnie Coliuta?

  • Going back to 1978'ish .

The love of my life J.Sanchez & I danced the night away to GINO VANELLI. RIP JOE, see you soon on the flip side baby. God bless.

  • What a drummer

  • Wow he sounds incredible live

  • Great song.

  • A true musical genius and fantastic band/singers!!!

  • Many people speak about Gino as if he is gone. He's presently touring and has been putting out albums for several years now (My all time favorite is Yonder Tree. I didn't get it it at first, but once I did I couldn't get it off).

  • @cgptony11 Thanx for that. I've been wondering about his whereabouts and career status. I turned a lot of people on to his music back in the early 70's before he had any major hits just because of richness of his and his brother's collaborative efforts.

  • casey also passed away! he was a professor at Berkeley, he had 1 month to get ready for tour with gino and did a great job, he inspired me greatly!

  • The drummer is killing me !!!! WOW !!!!

  • @adapterman2 that's the late Mark Craney, great drummer, big loss, look his bio up.

  • @adapterman2 That's the late Mark Craney on drums. He was one of the best drummers I ever saw live. Had to come back to hear him.

  • @adapterman2

the drummer was Mark Craney, died in november 2005

  • @adapterman2 Has killed me for 30 years :D

  • @adapterman2

Me also: Mark Craney was a super drummer, he did so many things, seems like he got a brain for each hand and leg. I like how he follows the music, he flows with it, so natural. May he rest in peace.

  • @adapterman2

His name is Mark Craney from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  • @ragall1 His name is Gino Vannelli from Montreal, Canada.

    What you been on, man?

  • @MegaLore1994 I meant to say that the drummer's name was Mark Craney. "What you been on, man?" What do that mean?

  • @adapterman2 the drummer is Mark Craney from Jethro Tull.

  • Yes Man, the Drummer is MARK CRANEY, GREAT GREAT DRUMMER !!!!

In that session, he plays on a big LUDWIG drum kit & he played too on a SONOR Signature drum kit in the 80's.

    He's been the JETHRO TULL's Drummer in 1980 & 1981.....I'm a big fan !!!

  • @3dao95 Sadly, Mark passed away on 11/26/05.......He was a huge influence on me.....I have liked all of Gino's drummers.......masters of the art, all of them.........

  • @3dao95 I' DON'T THINK IT IS MARK CRANEY...MAYBE IS VINNE COLAIUTA-????? I'M 4 SURE!!!!

  • @adapterman2 The drummer was Mark Craney who later played with Jethro Tull and Tower of Power sadly he died after years of diabetes and kidney related illnesses in 2005. He was a monster drummer and musician. I was privileged to have seen him play live with Tower of Power. Imho the only drummer with enough taste and talent to fill the drum chair of David Garibaldi.

  • @MrBertiep I guess I saw Mark Craney with J Tull- I saw the A tour... I think Eddie Jobson played keyboard that tour- It was a great show- did not know it was craney on drums till reading your comment!! cheers

  • No one has played liked this before...during...or since. This was live, and it sounded just like the recording.

The looks, the voice, the DRUMS, the guitars, the keys...the words/music and composition. They had it all !! I saw 4 of his concerts in San Antonio in the 70's (dunno why he liked it here so much...but kept coming back). The music rocked, the girls loved it as much as I did. And you had to be there...but his stage presence and dancing was perfect for the show! Best of the best

  • beautiful music beautiful man

  • @eyeohh great music

  • Thank you for posting this music. I have always thought he had such an amazing vocal range and so talented. Thank you for my walk down memory lane.

  • Super music - not so great dance moves :-)

  • He is in my life for 30 years.....awesome.

  • Long live Gino, long live the 70's, hey, I was only a 12 year old kid who loved to listen to Gino's music, and not only that, I wanted to look like Gino, dress like Gino, and try to sing (only dreams) like Gino, on saturday nights while my parents were out, I used to turn up my Father's Fisher stereo so loud hoping the neighbors wouldn't complain and dream of arriving to that made up party dancing and singing along to Gino's STOP and all the girls there just loving me! Beautiful ERA !!!

  • I ve been listing to Vanelli since I have been about 13 and I'm 50 now I love Graham Lear and Casey Scheraall o0n drums what ever happened to Casey??

  • Fantastic!

  • RETT OG SLETT VERDENS FETESTE LÅT!!

  • Just a total and complete experience!!!

    Where and when?

    Underrated? Yes, OMG.

  • Vanelli- one of the best that ever was.

  • Mark Craney!!!!!!! Awesome drummer! R.I.P

  • @ajmm1 , Hi, Mark Craney is this drummer? I have never heard of him, but if this is him, he is one amazing drummer. Are you sure it's him and he passed away huh? How tragic, when and from what, do you know? It would have sure been nice to contact him now. Amazing and also the arrangements. Thanks!

  • @johnbambammorgan

Mark Craney was one of the best drummers of the 70's and 80'sand early. I first heard him on albums with Jazz fusion violinist Jean Luc Ponty. He also had a short stint as the drummer for Jethro Tull. The "A" album is insane! Mark unfortunately suffered with diabetes and at one point suffered a stroke and recovered having to relearn how to breathe walk and play. He did better for a short time then passed of phuenmonia in Nov of 2005. He was incredible!.

  • @ajmm1 , Thank you very much for the insight on Mark, now i know. I also never knew Mark played with Ponty? on which recordings? Aurora? i only knew of Steve Smith then Casey S. Also it's amazing how tight and still technical Mark was live. Many drummers can play good in the studio but Live they suffer in various areas. ALSO, who has this performance on DVD and would like to do a dvd trade? I have tons for trade. Thanks much! Bam

  • gypsyjoe, I saw him in Baton Rouge. Best concert I've ever been to. I was introduced to him from a stereo demo too. Awesome!

  • I have been listening to G.V. since the very first ALBUM and I must say he has one of the greatest voices of our time and the music is just spectacular! I had the chance to see him in concert a few years ago in a small venue here in my hometown and the show he and his band of world class musicians put on was nothing short of perfection. This was the first time I had ever heard the song "Canto" and when he sang this song I was blown away. The effortless power he sings with is amazing! Viva Gino!

  • Man, that's some heavy shit.

  • Sounds pretty Jazz - fusion brilliant to me !

  • im only 18 and my mother showed me this video and it soon became one of my favorite songs

  • These were some bad ass musicians, back when fusion was king

  • Mark Craney on drums, awesome!

  • Mi gran tesoro: Brother to Brother LP comprado usado en Bs. As. en 1989 y autografiado dos veces por el mismísimo Gino en Santiago de Chile en 1992.

  • I'm impressed, just discovered Gino's music right now. Which sort of guitar has the guitarist!?!? I'm getting crazy..!

  • WHAT A PIECE OF WORK..WHAT A STYLE,,WHAT GREAT STAGE PRESENTS..

I THINK HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED WITH THIS JAZZ FUSION STYLE WHAT WE JUST HEARD ..UNFO. WHEN HE CHANGED HIS STYLE HE STARTED GOING DOWN. SAMPLE... BLACK CARS....IT'S JUST TO BAD...

  • @alexisnihon1 I agree buddy, you just cant get music like this any more. I miss the days when prog rock and fusion were mainstream. Now we are blessed with Rap(huh?) hip hop and all the other crap that is being massed produced. These guys didnt have the processors of today, this stuff was actually played!

  • yeah daryl stuermer on electric guitars!

  • Vanelli es de esos artistas que se deben tener como culto, gran artista.

  • Woooooooov!

  • Gino is great, his upbeat songs take me out of depression, and his slow ones put me in one :)

  • Completely agree about "Powerful People". Another fantastic album is "Storm at Sunup". Miss artists like Gino Vanelli who actually have real TALENT.

  • What a talent - what an artist - the voice - the passion - the writing and arranging abilities. He never ever got the recognition he deserved. I remember he was appearing in Dallas one night - so were Hall & Oates. My sister was a dj for the rock station in town - she and I went to see Gino. The rest of the crew went to Hall & Oates. It was the best show I've ever seen - may Gino sing forever....

  • WEEEE HAH! Yes, indeed. Gino was doing seriously brilliant jazz fusion before it became "trendy". His song arrangements were (are) off the chain.

  • Mark graney Drummer real genius!!!!!!!!!! woooooooooooowwww!!!

  • introduced to his music in 1975, while in the Navy. Have followed him most of my career in the Navy Band, but did not the equipment to cover him properly :(

  • Awesome....timeless....just got the CD of the new versions of these brilliant songs and it sounds as fresh as ever. One of the best live acts and world class talents EVER.

    Keep the music coming Gino!

  • Great showman, very italian talent

  • Underrated but he has outlasted many of the big names of the era

  • Musique vibrante et quel sex-appeal Gino !!

  • ....musique vibrante et quel sex-appeal Gino!!!

  • Great arist!

  • gino y el bataca gram lear de canada para el mundo lo mejor

  • Super-high quality music. I've been a fan of Gino's since 1973 just after he climbed over the fence at A&M music pkg lot to present Herb Alpert with his demo. He was passionate and compelled to have his music heard. I am SO glad!

  • what a smoking band, i'd have given my eye-teeth to be involved in this kind of thing. and probably one of the precious few instances prog rock would ever appeal to the ladies :) though i gotta say, his strutting and posing is pretty hard to watch after a while... like maybe he could have occupied himself with some hand percussion during the long instrumental sections... or learn to dance? hee hee

  • putain la tignasse du Gino. Ca joue serieux quand même.

  • What's amazing is that this is live, and it sounds exactly like the studio version. I was with the band that opened for him on this tour in Montreal, his hometown. I can tell you that the sound was incredible, even way back then. I wish I could say the same for our set.

  • Impresionante Gino con su hermano Joe en los teclados, tengo sus vinilos.............

  • I grew up on this album, we were a black family blasting Gino's album LOL!!

wonderful lyrics, soulful music, and he was cute on top of all that. Go Gino!

  • OK. For whatever reason I thought the guitarist was Mike Miller and thought D. Stuerner was playing bass. The comments indicate it's DS on guitar...so who's playing bass? And what type of guitar is DS playing? Don't recognize it ; weird headstock, no horns. Must be 'cuz I play kit. Mark Craney was amazing on this record. J. Haslip played the bass solo on the record; that's why it wasn't featured in this version of the song. 11th hour bass player fill-in, perharps??

  • All of Gino's albums in the 70's and early 80's were brilliant, comparable only to Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (amazing for its day, eh?). I went to a drum clinic put on by Casey Scheurell in the early 80's (one of Gino's drummers, although Graham Lear was my favorite). Anyway...to quote Casey..."we spent three days mic' ing the drums for that album." Wow.

  • That drummer is Mark Craney - the legend

  • Musician's Names??????????????????????

  • what a drummer...wow!

  • L'homme le plus sexy de la planète....(à cette époque je précise)

    WAAAAAOUOUOUOUHHHHHHHHH

  • Those toms sound like tupperware.

  • Damn, he was on fire.. He rocked that show!! Man, I miss good music

  • you must type in this if you love this song and be prepared to be blown awayy..

Michiel Borstlap - Gino Vannelli 'Brother to Brother' type it in turn it up and listen

  • Go listen to this in proper hi-fi, you'd be amazed. This was absolutely fluid SPL on tape way back when I heard it. The best of the 70's.

  • What a voice! What a song! IMHO, this album and Nightwalker are two of the finest albums produced in the past 50 years. This band absolutely ROCKS! The guitar solo shreds!!! Great post! Thanks luckysmusic!

  • When I thnk Gino can't be any better, another video comes out, if only Gino could be captured in a bottle and kept as he was in 78, if only all of us could. Gino you were the sexist, finest, man who ever lived, throw in the voice of a lifetime, and what woman wouldn't swoon and fall in love with you over and over.

Love you till I'm laid to rest, thanks for being the best.

  • what a voice remenber playing this song on the radio in 1980 when I was a dJ

  • what kind of plug is at the end of that guitar xD

  • i was born in 1982.

i didn't know anything about this until my mom showed me, last week.

i cannot believe i've never come across this before.

this is such a bad-ass song..

..and, yeah: mr. vanelli had such bad-ass hair!

    the "Italifro"!

  • Who's on guitar? He looks and sounds a bit like Daryl Steurmer from genesis. Is it?

  • New Orleans Louisiana Municipal Auditorium 1979 I think and I was there....First of the 4 times I saw him. Interesting story: the only Music store in Thibodaux, Louisiana which happened to sell the best stereos anywhere down here at that time used only "Gino Vannelli Powerful People" as the record to demo their equipment because in the words of the aged owner "that was the best engineered album in history". I couldn't agree more.

  • @gypsyjoerosario The engineering on this album is quite amazing.

  • Gino doesn't know what to do during the long instrumental break, LOL !

Thumbs up for the great late Mark Craney, the best among the best.
