fucking i remember the day eq2 came out... dropped 700 bucks on video card ram and 2 games n some other cpu shit so me anda friend could run it... we started up together in my room, he had his whole computer setup n everything. was guna herb out for a week and enjoy the new eq...

It’s been a horrible ride for EQ2 players. Just look at the lack of interest in these YouTube channels. You have a bazillion more comments & views in EQ compared to EQ2

The current expansion ~ Age of Discovery ~ they added Beastlord! Trust me a lot of people already are jumping ship. Let’s talk about Player made dungeons: First of all they don’t give you crap to make the dungeons and then they make you do them on a level 50 character that is not yours and has no gear. This is exactly why I only play 1 to 2 months a year on this game anymore. SoE refuses for you to have any fun it’s written across the board all over this game.

Everything I have seen leads me to believe SoE has never had a clear picture on the future of this game. They claim they have this streamlined assembly line system on how the game will end up, but I say they have absolutely 110% no clue what they are doing. This last expansion Age of Discovery leads me to believe they are just letting this old horse ride out (No new raids, no new content, no new instances, no, no, no, no, NO!).

If you had done, you'd find EQ2 a different game, and in many ways an improvement over EQ. What made EQ special was the time and the community, and you can't get that all back now since lots of us are playing EQ2 now! :)

@pcgneurotic2 Improvement or not, I rather have the kind of memories you EQ1 players talk about. Just look at what’s left of the EQ2 community. Battered, beaten and driven to the ends of their wits. EQ2 was a total let down on so many levels. With a game heavily centered on gear you would have thought they would have some kind of consideration for people that played this game.

@pcgneurotic2 For instance; they nerfed the Avatar (aka god) gear 2 times (gear you can’t get anymore) and lifted up regular Heroic & Epic gear stats to amazing proportions. The raid progressions made no sense, gear progressions made no sense and only in the last couple months they re-itemized all the old tiers to make sense . To top it off SoE is repeating their same follies with every dungeon / raid they add to the DoV expansion.

It's pretty clear you have major issues with the game, but seem to understand it well enough, and have a reasonable knowledge of it, at least from a raider's point of view. But need I remind you that raiding is only a small part of any MMOG, and in EQ2 is just a tiny fraction of what you can do in it.

What grieves me most is that, for someone who seems to know the game so well, your comments are so broadly generalised and, in some cases, totally unfounded, being based entirely on the principles of your own grudge against SOE. I would urge you to come back in the wake of Aod and the F2P conversion. Far from the dismal portrait you paint, the Dungeon Maker, BL class and re-itemisation are all working spectacularly well (so far).

I have already stated below why I hate Dungeon Maker & Beastlord is just an easy excuse for not creating a real expansion with content. Who makes an expansion with no new content?

@pcgneurotic2 The itemization you speak of has makes no sense in gear progression. Why you would you have gear of this caliber added in the new expansion, while the DoV unfinished expansion gear was a lot harder to obtain? The new itemization also requires you to wait weeks to unlock. Total timesink and waste of time. Some of us are just not blind and we can see beneath the true motives.

My comments here are for seasoned EQ2 players that have attempted accomplish the game to fullest. For most this means a complete life style change. If you honestly put in the time you would have a different appreciation for the comments I have said.

@pcgneurotic2 Oh on a last note. No one in this game would do anything at all if it wasn't for the gear / items that came out the zones. Everyone that plays this game is addicted to gear. Nothing else to do, but gear up alts. EQ2 has the slowest & hardest progression out of any MMO, because of the lack of content. I said screw these lazy video game models for keeping players subscriptions. Star Wars the Old Republic and World of Warcraft are much better model on how players should enjoy the game
