the led lights will last 10 times as long as metal halide or t5, that's why even at a higher initial cost you won't have to replace bulbs every year (very expensive)
This is probably the future... Is it just me or aren't the colors quite as vivid as they should be? It is like the light spectra is not as complete as it should be...
I was wondering; how long that tank has had this light set on it? I like the actinics. But, the daylight color looked a little bland. How much does a set up like this cost?
very cool lighting system.....I have an 8ft long tank, could two of these be used together and the control system work both lights as if it were one unit ?
if not, will there be anything like that available later ?
@redtop03 With The V-Stick wireless controller and LightStudio software (to be released later this month I'm told) you can control many Illumina fixtures like it was one single fixture.
Finally...some true competition for Aqua Illumination. Vertex, IF you can avoid production/sourcing delays you WILL have a very successful North American launch.
@GDABS69 The light has only been up for a week. LED's have been installed successfully over reef aquariums for almost 5 years now and the lack of UV has not been shown to influence coral growth or health.
cool! but ill have to pass, $2800 is a lot for the consumer market. i always wonder why aquarium lights have 100% mark up. i bet cost wasn't even over $500
@Nugburner420 No top brand aquarium fixture has 100% markup. 30% at most. Also keep in mind it takes a lot of time and money for R&D and these fixtures are not made in China...
very interesting, I love the interchanging lights, but I do have to agree it looks a little artificial. Still nifty, would be good to have a little less blue to give a more natural feel.
very cool... a little more white and would be perfect

Can you hang the lights any other way then from the ceiling? Ie on the aquarium tank.

does the sunrise, set and moon light need to cross over the tank at that speed or can you slow it down to a personal preference

@counttravula What you see in the video is the demo program that demonstrates the lights features in a time lapse.

Have you noticed any loss of color in the corals, due to lack of uv radiation ?

How does it change from one side to the other? Rather than over the whole footprint.

@MrCThompson Each of the eight 40 watt LED pods talk to each other and the main controller via wireless ZigBee wireless protocol.

Bet the fish appreciate the gradual change to black.
MrCThompson 1 year ago
@MrCThompson They really do. The ramp up and down of the intensity is really subtule as close to nature as I hace ever seen on a reef tank.

At $2800 for a 48" I think I will still stick with my Halides and t5 combo for now.
