if the band stayed the same, people would complain. "it just sounds the same as the previous album, i feel they aren't progressing as a band."

the band is progressing and changing all the time,(people still complain) that is why they have stayed around for so long. they are giving us variety. just because dallas doesn't scream doesn't mean he lacks emotion. as a niagara region resident, i will forever worship AOF. fuck the haters.

This album definitely has a new and different feel compared to "Watch Out" and "Crisis" but it's still a good listen. They're still talented and know how to really get a crowd pumped.

IMO they suffered a seveeere downgrade. Their self titled album was pure genius. George doesn't even sound remotely the same. They used to have melody and harmonies (Counterparts & Number Them? possibly the best intro to any song) but now it's just power chords. I could figure out how to play this in under an hour, considering i know they tune half a step down, probably in drop Db. I'll always have respect for them, but i doubt ill ever be excited to see their shows again.

In my honest opinion, Counterparts & Number Them is the band's worst song. They did not suffer a downgrade. Old Crows/Young Cardinals is possibly the best thing to happen to Alexisonfire. It shows that they're moving forward and trying to stay fresh and explore new territory.

I'm sorry, though, I can't take you seriously when you say Counterparts has the best intro. It's just hammer-on's and pull-offs. Oh well, opinions opinions. IMO, Pulmonary Archery has a 100x better intro.

@Ethanodd1 thats your opinion, and thats cool. But Counterparts and Number Them, and Waterwings, and all the songs on their self-titled album were far superior to all of their recent stuff. The main difference is the songs are structured to showcase their raw talent, and the uniqueness(which theyve lost) and now the songs are more about Dallas Green,so that he appeals to the mainstream that know less about the actual music,such as yourself

You DO realize that Dallas Green has always PARALLELED George in vocals, right? In Watch Out! , Dallas led the choruses (and verses occasionally) of multiple songs! The idea behind the vocals was hitting you with George's raw emotion and then alleviating the pressure with Dallas' softer vocals! They are constantly coming up with great ways to harmonize their instruments and vocals! Sorry, but you're being a prick for the 'know less about the music' line. You know nothing about me.
