  • i had this the nail polish peeled im just kidding i wasnt even alive in the 80s

  • i found this in my cousins garage but it was all messed up

  • The girl thats kissed, seems to be a force to be reckoned with! lol

  • If you look closely at the bottom during the first three seconds, you can see that it says "(c) Mattel Inc 1981". This is an awesome commercial, though! The Barbie products back then seem like they were actually fin to play with, unlike the products of today.

  • This was when if little girls had makeup on they didnt look like hoes :)

  • the announcer's voice sounds like she is gargling under water

  • I think it was 1979-1981, I was only 1-3 years old way too young for that stuff and a barbie just yet!

  • Cool my Mom got me a Barbie makeup set! I loved it and it came in a big hot pink egg shaped plastic case! I looked like a stupid clown everytime I finished using it! She got it from Argos. It was between that and the large Barbie camper van/RV. I didn't care about no damned van but I loved makeup and I still do!

  • I believe it's early 80s. That's when they had that "Hey, there, Georgy girl" theme to their commercials.

  • I remember getting this for Christmas, the makeup was real but the nail polish was fake and the perfume was water.

  • It's a 1981 commercial (you could see it at the very start of the video)

  • I remember another kind of toy makeup for girls called Crayon. Anyone remember that? Being a guy I never used it of course, LOL, but I remember seeing the commercials for it (and thinking the girls in them were cute;) and some of my gradeschool/jr high "girlfriends" were into it. In fact one time they wanted to give me a Crayon makeover-but I ran home screaming for my mom! Heh heh! Looked for those commercials on here but couldn't find em.

  • @maidenrulz1 Crayon Girl it was called. I remember that and I wanted it too but my Mom never wanted to get it for me. I must also have been the only child in the western world whose Mom refused to buy her a My Little Pony too, she hated 'em. I have never ever had one! ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa xD

  • According to the Copyright at the beginning of the clip it says "Mattel, 1981"... ;)

  • @EmmasAngel07 -That's a bit hard to see. All you focus on is the girls in the mirror at the beginning. But thanks for verifying that I was close.

  • Bet that stuff was all made in China :X

  • This looks like about 1979 to 1982

  • I remember those Fresh N' Fancy commercials! The song went "Makeup you make up yourself!" LOL

  • omg! I loooved fresh n fancy! I wish they had a commercial for it!

  • Yeah, I remember seeing the commercial on tv as a little girl, and then I asked for it and got it for my birthday or christmas. The only thing was, the nail polish was like plastic and peeled off!

  • I remember getting that for christmas when I was 6 I think. I remember the nail polish that peeled off lol.

  • i had the red set in 1981. I remember my mom hiding it from me because she didn't want me using it until I was older. At the time I was 4 years old. such fond memories.

  • Well, mine's been passed down to my 6-year-old .
