@Prometheusmfd Year.THREEthousand. Just think how much cameras and telescopes and all that stuff changed in the past 50 years, and now imagine that for 1000 years.
@Kibate You have no idea how far away they are! That's an entire planet on about a sixth of the screen. They have to be millions of miles away. It's still a 31 pixel high image from that distance!
@Prometheusmfd And you have no idea how freaking fast science is evolving, even if earth is destroyed a few times inbetween. Heck, the only reason why they don't live like gods in that cartoon is so that they can make jokes about our current world.
@LightandDark11 Lytro cameras allow depth of field adjustments. You can change the focus from one object to another in post. It won't allow for zooming beyond the original resolution.
I like to reference 24 for implausible zooming.

Haha, so true, i always hate it when that kind of stuff happens on those criminal shows.
Though, i expted the year 3000 to have better resolution cameras than this...

@Kibate Did you see how far away the camera was? That's pretty freaking good resolution

@Kibate Yes, but it's also been established that a lot of this series runs on whatever makes the best joke!

See flip users even in the 31st century digital zoom still sucks.

@AegisKleais I'd photoshop someone mooning them in the area they asked me to zoom to.

You'd think that we'd have that kind of optical zooming by now.
LegendOfNikkonolasco 1 year ago 59
@LegendOfNikkonolasco
You cant do optical zoom on a pre-recorded video like they do on CSI.
goznik1 11 months ago 65
@goznik1 Actually you can, if the pre-recorded video has a sufficiently high resolution, can't you?
KanzakiGNT 4 months ago
@KanzakiGNT
Yes you could, But on CSI they do that to crapy videos they get from surveillance cams with crappy resolution.
BTW there are technologies to get a higher resulotion from a picture if you have sevral pictures or a video,
NASA uses it ,but its nothing like they show in CSI
