  • First of all: thank you for your effort! I've learned so much from you.

Concerning the riff; when I go from 5 to 4 to 3 string, second fret, the 3 sounds different from yours. I can't seem to tune the G string correctly.

  • @mrsamim9 Never mind, solved it ;p

  • i wanna learn guitar so badly! but my parrents are having trouble with the bills and we literally have like no money cuzz my dad works for the california government and you know how bad the california government is.

  • dude you did it perfect i will be learning from you for this song cuz\ thats exactly how marcus does it... thjank you for clarifying tuning... i thought it was drop d for most of his songs wicked man thank you

  • can i play this song by fingerpicking?

  • Someone wanna suggest a guitar tuner that'll tune each different string to a different note. The one I have is great for standard tuning but nothing else..

  • How long does it take to learn I'm finding it quite difficult with the first but where you have to slide from the 2nd to the 4th fret and tips dude I'm really new to guitar and I just want to learn this song ! Thanks

  • @Shawnie23Williams you can slide from the third to the fourth if it helps

  • I don't have a capo :[

  • Dude, when I play this song it doesn't sound anything like this song, it's fucking annyoing. Guitar is tuned, capo in place but it sound too buff or how to say!

    Cheers

  • @JoshMcDonough ha ha nice one,,look forward to hearing it

  • For anyone who is confused about tuning, just tune the E string to D and G to F#.

  • great! but i have no idea how to tune my guitar to that way. Please refer me or tell me how?? I only know normal tuning......... again......u are VERY good though!

  • i really need a capo :/

  • @mymummy12321 you can play it without, tune your guitar to Open E ! A and D sring a whole step up, and G string a half step up.

  • The guy that gave this a thumbs down must have grown up in A Cave

  • great tutorial

    thanks

  • you sir, are a stupendous teacher, very thorough. and myself i dont know the notes well, so numbering the chords helps a great deal, thank you much

  • @Ahalfstepdown can u please teach a white blank page by mumford and sons

  • To those out there who are a little unsure about 'non-standard' tuning, just google up one of the many on-line tuners. You can change tuning on the fly easily. There is a lot out there, and this Ahalfstepdown guy is one of the better.

  • i couldnt understand the chords! =(

  • There's always one village idiot to thumb down :( If Michelangelo posted the Creation of Adam on youtube, some asshole would give it the thumb down...

  • @thepumpdontwork cheers mate

  • sorry im a begginer and need to know how to tune in that key or if you ahve a website that says the notes of somthing ?

  • Wow, you're amazing!

  • holy shit this got a lot of views man

  • love it thanks=D

  • WOW I LOVE HOW YOU TELL THE CHORDS

  • I came cross with all the tabs i found on the internet. No tab seemed the be right be me. But this vid sounded just like the bookstore session, and thats what i was looking for. Thanks alot

  • thanks very much, i love this song, great vid.

  • brilliant tutorial!

    thankyou so much,

learnt the introduction riff, now just tackling the chords

got a feeling it's going to take me a while haha

  • Great job, mate. I think that when he's playing the chorus he adds the low eye of the same fret. So on the fifth fret you're playing the low d string on the fifth as well as the 4th and third string. I find it fills out the chord and makes the vocal line stronger. Cheers

  • Quite amazing. I haven't learned it yet, since it's midnight here and I would wake my parents and sister, but I know I will from you.

  • i have to ask.. are you in mumford & sons by any chance, that was spot on!! thanks

  • @RatThing8369 haha thanks man

  • you do realize that tuning your guitar this way (open D) and then capoing it on the 2nd fret is the same thing as just tuning it to open E, right? E B E G# B E

  • @Gammarklar i based the lesson on the tuning they use which uses the capoon 2nd but for anyone with no capo i am sure they will appreciate your tip

  • thanks very much, im trying to learn this but i have no capo... i was wondering what the tuning would be if i didnt have one but wanted the same sound? sorry for the stupid question. im only learning. thanks :)

  • @blaze185 check out the comments...an open tuning has been posted

  • @blaze185 rubber band and pencil :D

  • @blaze185 easy to make your own capo, get a pencil, and rubber band it to the desired fret :D simple, hope this helps anyone.

  • @blaze185 just get rubber bands and a pencil and ghetto rig up a capo.

  • @blaze185

well i have no idea for their tuning and capo because there a much easier method w/o a capo. lets think of it this way. normal tuning is EADGBE. They are tuning tuning 4 strings down: the 1st,5th,6th strings a whole step down and 4th a half step down to F#. But then they capo up a whole step to ebeG#be so you could simply just tune up 3 strings(the 2nd and 3rd up a whole and the 4th a half up). They want you to tune DADF#AD(1st-whole step v,). And then capoing up to EBEG#BE.

  • @blaze185 Or if you have a pencil and a rubber band you can make a Capo yourself, putting the pencil on your fretboard and the rubber band running behind the neck

  • @blaze185 If you wanna play it without an Capo but you got a tuner or a good ear, tune your guitar to open E tuning and you got the same and right sound without a Capo!

It is: EBEG#BE, so just tune your A string a whole step up, your D string a whole step up and your G string a half step up. thats it

  • Im a beginner and am wondering how you mute strings 6 and 3 on that one piece and also what does it mean the chords are choked? Sorry for this newbie question.

  • @burnindesirez02 by choke i mean to palm mute while strumming, rest the palm of your strumming hand on the strings while playing to get the sound and you can use your thumb to mute string 6 and string 3 can be muted by resting finger 3 on it while fretting the chord...good luck

  • I`ve not played guitar in years and i could play this in a day! Your such a good teacher Thankyou!!!!!

  • thanks all for the comments, more lessons on the way, requests welcome

  • you did a great job on that video!

i think there's only one note he plays differently, during the intro and first verse it's:

    (string-fret)

    6-4 , 5-4 , 3-0 , 5-4 instead of

    6-4 , 4-0 , 3-0 , 4-0.

i played it that way, too, when i learned the song, but it always sounded just a little bit off...

otherwise it's the best tutorial i've seen!

  • @derthomas2 cheers.. i ll give that a bash

  • @Ahalfstepdown Hey you guys, I think it's actually (string-fret) 6-4, 5-4, 4-4, 3-0 on that part...

  • awesome

  • excellent :D

  • This is Brilliant mate! just wondering of you could e-mail me the chord shapes?

  • Stumbled upon this, quality version mate, 10 out of 10 compared to most of the nasty jobs on YT so far. tip of the cap.

  • very helpfull my friend. thanks for posting this

  • honestly, the BEST tutorial ive seen. Very easy to understand, its perfect and the way Marcus Mumford plays it and he knows what hes doing.

    Thank you. Thank you.

  • Good lesson mate, cant believe the amount of wrong tabs and lessons out there for this tune, yours is the most accurate by far, thanks :-)

  • Great lesson cheers... mate

  • This lesson is great, thank you!!!!!!

  • Wow, the best tutorial ever. My guitar will remain in open D tuning until I master this one. Thanks a mill.

  • wow best tutorial ive ever seen, youre very thorough in the way you teach ! thanks soo much !

  • Purchased a guitar a few years back, never understood what other people were saying. This makes it easy and fun. Cheers Mate.

  • thanks for the tutorial! it helped alot but I'm new with the guitar and was wondering how to choke the strings?

  • @ToPeVeNtErr choke means to palm mute or to damp the strings, you rest palm of your strumming hand on the strings while striking.gl.

  • thanks , great lesson

  • EXCELLENT! LOVE IT.

  • @ChardC2 thanks,nice 1

  • @nytrox cheers, yeah,i thought after watching him play that he definitely slides the 1st note although the other way sounds good too,so i changed the lesson

  • Ones of the best tutorials i have ever seen, and sounds awesome! fairly new to the guitar, and if every lesson was like this, would be amazing! nice one

  • @DUNLY82 thanks man, good luck with the tune
