also- the trombonist didn't make this gig. The 3 piece horsection works around chicago under their own name, backing up groups and playing freelance jazz gigs, etc. I can't say enough about the horns. I have seen videos of the band before the horns, and while they were awesome (vocals bass keys and arrangement specifically) the horns transformed them into a serious entity. I wish i had the power to give them everything they want to go out and do their thing in a big way.
I just came across this video a few months cuz that's what I do- troll for new stuff. They had to have turned down some national contracts to keep doing their thing the way they do it. I'm in VA, and have played since 1986. This is one of the tightest broup I have heard in my life. The musicianship blows me a way. The tenor sax man is awesome. Vocals are great. I'm down widit.
This is absolutely F@#%ing phenomenal. I am in a band here in SW Wisconsin, and we sort of veer to this genre as far as what we play. Our drummer pointed to this group and some video that they did live on TV in Madison, WI, as an example of how our group should work together. I am abso-F@#$-ing-lutely blown away!!
This song is ridiculous good.
