drug tests huh. hey how bout why fingerprint and eyescan the poor people too. dumb ass the only people on welfare that dont work are old people, disabled and people who get unemployement
So why not test everyone. People can get cash for their federal loans and scholarships and their contracts for business. Yet people don't feel the need to test them as much. It is completely unfair to single out one specific group that receives government money and not test others.
I totally agree. There are people who have jobs but lie on the application and use their food stamps to get a bunch of junk food and use the money they work for to get themselves high. RETARDED!!!!!!! There are people out there who really need the help. Those who actually work for a living and can't afford groceries because of bills so food stamps helps them. 86 the druggies!!!
@jburr36 Funny. Not all welfare recipients live in public housing. And not all people in public housing are on welfare. In Michigan where they did drug testing they found that welfare recipients drug use was about the same as the general population. They also stopped the program because it violated the 4th amendment rights of recipients. Where's your proof they abuse drugs more? From your experience with one public housing building? That is no proof.
@jfsfrnd Funny but there is all kinds of proof out there regarding welfare recipients abusing drugs. I did my research. Violation of the 4th amendment my ass. What about the rights of the taxpayers funding these worthless fucks in society who abuse drugs? I know not all welfare parasites abuse drugs. I know that in my state at least anyone who has a drug conviction will be denied or booted from welfare. They already have means testing so what the hell is wrong with adding another?
@jburr36 Where is your ''all kinds of proof''? Michigan no longer drug tests recipients because a judge said it probably violated their 4th amendment rights and a panel agreed with that. A drug conviction is a much different matter than drug testing everyone. A drug conviction proves that someone was using/abusing drugs on its own. Means testing just means that you have to be eligible regarding your income and assets. It doesn't violate the 4th amendment rights of anyone.
@jfsfrnd This was only a government funded study, I quote the relevent conclusion --> "The results indicate that drug use is 50% more common in households with welfare recipients than in nonwelfare households.." w w w .ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10852365
And you said a judge stated it PROBABLY violated their 4th amendment rights? I'm sorry but probably doesn't make the cut. Excuse me but means testing is means testing. Nothing wrong with drug testing people voluntarily applying for welfare.
@jburr36 That is an abstract. What the judge said was fine with the board after they changed their decision and decided to side with her. Michigan no longer drug tests ALL welfare recipients. Who exactly is going to be tested for drugs? The person who gets the check? Their children? Their other family members? The ex wife or husband who comes and visits them? First you said your state uses a drug conviction and now you say you want everyone drug tested. So which is it?
@jfsfrnd As I said before. These fucks are voluntarily applying for welfare. They already have to meet certain financial and other requirements and PROVE that they meet these requirements before getting an approval from social services. Why don't you whine about that violating the 4th amendment rights? I think everyone in the household needs to be drug tested. Not only that I think the kids ought to be forced to maintain at least a C average in school or they lose the entitlement.
@jfsfrnd Besides, My state already rejects people convicted of drug offences. That is an after the fact deal. I also want my state to test for drugs. It's not an either-or thing. I want both. I listed a study that shows 50% more people on welfare abuse drugs than those that are not on welfare. We as taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behavior of others. Furthermore I do not believe that welfare recipients have a right to force taxpayers to fund their criminal behavior.
@jfsfrnd Of course the government funded study I used as a source is an abstract. This comment section has a 500 character limit. I don't have to get you anything.
I stated, "We as taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behaviors of others"
You Replied, "And that right is written where?"
Are you that fucking stupid? Are you saying that the taxpayers have a right to fund criminals? That just proves you are an Obama Supporting Democrat Libtard. I rest my case. Pis off
@jfsfrnd and I couldn't care less what you consider valid or not. You are saying that we taxpayers don't have a right to fund criminal behavior. But since you're so stuck on constitutional rights, where in the constitution does it say we have to pay welfare parasites a check every month. Funding one class at the expense of another class isn't constitutional according to your own posts as it isn't applied uniformally. That violates the 14th amendment regarding equal protections. ROTFL.
@jburr36 It is a supreme court case. Goldberg v Kelley made welfare an entitlement. Look it up. Funny the decision used the 14th amendment to cite its case. A welfare recipient can't be cut off with out due process - a hearing.
@jfsfrnd ROTFL! Does that case entitled the taxpayer to fund criminal drug abuse? Where in that opinion does it say that? Perhaps that due process would occur shortly after they are busted for drugs. Also if the recipient agrees to be drug tested as a condition for receiving welfare when applying then your points are moot. It's not an entitlement until they are deemed entitled to receive it. Otherwise every form of means testing is unconstitutional and the rich ought to be getting welfare
@jburr36 ''Does that case entitled the taxpayer to fund criminal drug abuse''
You haven't shown me where that law is. The burden of proof is on you. I showed you where you have to pay taxes.
The due process hearing occurs because of many reasons, paperwork not filed on time by the office, errors by the workers, lack of understanding of the laws by staff. ''Busted for drugs'' is not convicted for drugs. I could have oregano on me and get ''busted for drugs''.
@jburr36 I already told you that you have to show personal papers to get a loan. That is not unconstitutional or considered illegal search and seizure without probable cause. So where is that law that says you have a right not to pay taxes if they are being used for criminal behavior?
@jfsfrnd You show me where I ever said that I don't have to pay taxes anywhere. I said I do not want my taxpayer dollars to fund criminal behavior. Keep on. You're making a fool of yourself
@jfsfrnd When you pay taxes you can't stipulate that you don't want your money going to non-drug tested welfare recipients. Or can you? Where is the law to back your claim?
@jfsfrnd I tell you where. At the polls every time we vote. Florida voters elected people who make the laws. And they made a law that states that those applying for welfare must take a drug test. Taxpayers pay for it all if the applicants pass. If you don't like it then too bad.
Now regarding the fact that you made up quotes from me I never posted then you tried to challenge me on it. TOTAL FAIL!!!! You are an idiot and a waste of time.
@jburr36 So you're voting for dictators? Laws are not written in stone. Michigan passed a drug testing law and it was thrown out by a judge and then a panel. Happens all the time. Right at the moment the Florida law is being contested by the ACLU. Rick Scott's study shows that about 10% of welfare recipients abuse drugs. So test the 90% who are clean? Why? So his business can rake in the dollars? Oh I'm sorry, his wifes business - he transferred it to her.
@jfsfrnd You stated I claimed I don't have to pay taxes then you challenged me on that assertion. You fail. I do not debate idiots who are not intellectually honest. I am blocking you. Bye.
@jburr36 Sorry I made a mistake. You pointed it out and I corrected it.
You're gonna lose this one. No state since Michigan has even attempted to pass a drug testing law to test 90% drug free applicants to get 10% who are using. They will eventually get arrested and convicted and then there will be probable cause to test them.
@jburr36 That is most likely why Michigan has rules to cut off only the able bodied recipients and has exceptions for disabled, domestic violence victims, seniors etc.
@jburr36 Here is another study from the same website:
Substance abuse and the course of welfare dependency
RESULTS: Among AFDC recipients, substance abuse was not a significant determinant of long welfare stays, repeat welfare use, or the total time a person remained on welfare during the 6-year period. However, substance abuse was a strong predictor of repeat welfare use among general assistance recipients.
So why aren't you whining about subsidizing general assistance recipients?
@jfsfrnd Who said I was ignoring General Assistance recipients. I demand that they drug test ANYONE receiving any kind of stipend, grant, allowance, benefit, voucher, or ANYTHING funded by the taxpayers. And I mean ANYONE! But in this thread we are talking about WELFARE parasites.
@jfsfrnd Tell me where in the 4th amendment or any part of the constitution that anyone has the right to force the government or the taxpayers to fund criminal behavior. That judge is full of shit and most of us out here know it.
@jfsfrnd Illegal search and seizure without probable cause does not apply when one is voluntarily applying for assistance. Do you realize how fucking stupid that argument is?
@jburr36 You are singling out one group of people who are receiving state money and not testing the other people receiving state money, like the Governor. He should present himself as a shining example and drug test himself don't you think?
@jfsfrnd are you illiterate? If you read my other post I mentioned I wanted to drug test ANYONE who gets benefits from taxpayer funded programs. I mean ANYONE!
@jfsfrnd Disabled Absolutely. There are druggies that are disabled too. Babies and 4 years olds do not apply for welfare but yes I say test them. I'm working on a case now where a 7 year old is testing positive for meth from the residue of her mother's meth habit. A baby died hours after it was born from a high level of morphine. It didn't even have the 1st feeding.
@jfsfrnd 1st, if they pass the money it refunded. 2nd, the drug tests are up to $15 not $75. You are trying to embellish your arguments. FAIL!! If w welfare recipient is that broke then they ought to give their kids up for adoptions. They can come up with that money by cutting off the cable tv, the cell phones, the internet, the booze, the cigarettes.
@jburr36 Where are they supposed to come up with the money? So now if they can't come up with the money the state should take their children? Prove that ALL welfare recipients have those things. You can't
@jfsfrnd Now it's the "ALL" or "NONE" argument. The more you nit pick an argument the more you lose the argument. You showed we pay taxes but you can't show where taxpayers must fund criminal drug abuse. You keep demanding I show you where the taxpayer has a right to not fund criminal behavior. I will when you prove that taxpayers DO have a right to fund criminal behavior. LOL
@jburr36 You haven't shown where you as a taxpayer have the right not to pay taxes if they are used in a criminal manner. You have to pay taxes so your argument is moot.
@jfsfrnd So it's moot when lawmakers in Florida make a law that states welfare recipients must prove that they are not abusing drugs? LOLOLOLOLOL!!! There it is. Done...Gone..bye!!!!
@jburr36 A lot of people ''make laws'' and they are thrown out by the courts. This one will be too.
So it's exit stage left. You can't come up with the law that says that you don't have to pay taxes if the money is used for criminal behavior. Duck and run. LOL
@jburr36 Oh I see, you said ''I don't want my taxayer dollars to fund criminal behavior''. So prove that ALL welfare recipients are involved in criminal behavior. You can't. That is why there is no probable cause to drug test them until they are caught and convicted of drug use or abuse.
@jburr36 You are not going to stop drug abuse by drug testing welfare recipients. The study I showed you stated that they go on general relief after being cut off welfare. And many drug abusers are not on welfare.
I remember some child years ago being born without fingers because her mother drank tons of coffee. Caffeine toxity.
I knew a baby who was 12 pounds at birth and fat at 3 months because her mother ate chips and ice cream her whole pregnancy. It looked pale and unhealthy.
@jfsfrnd So what you are saying is just because someone has problems with other subtances like coffee and chips that mitigates the problems associated with drugs? LOL! What it all boils down to is personal responsibility. We are not talking about every drug abuser aout there. We are talking about rejecting drug abusers trying to fund their disgusting addictions with taxpayer money.
@jburr36 Yeah. That child was born without fingers and the second child was unhealthy. Obesity leads to diseases that children are not supposed to get like Diabetes. That costs you money too.
Okay so you have to prove in court that they used their welfare money to fund their drug habit. What if the drugs were given to them?
@jburr36 If they get arrested and convicted then I have no problem cutting them off welfare for a time as long as they were warned first. Same as the HUD section 8 and public housing rules - get caught with drugs you're out. But no drug testing.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
@jfsfrnd And you are STUPID enough to know not what they mean. You see the word 'Welfare' and interpret that into believing that the founders really meant to set up some socialist economy. ROTFL! The founders used the word 'Welfare' as a generalisation of the word "safety" and not communism or socialism. Funny how you libtards latch onto that interpretation at the same time trying to defund the military. That is unconstitutional.
@jburr36 You asked me where the Constitution it said you have to pay taxes. There it is. No reference to whether the taxes go to criminal behavior or not.
You haven't posted yet where the Constitution says ''the taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behavior of others''. Where is it?
@jburr36 I never stated that the term ''welfare'' meant for our government to set up a socialist economy. That was your interpretation of my post. I merely showed you where it says you have to pay taxes. I doesn't say ''Welfare'' it says ''general Welfare''.
@jfsfrnd But if you REALLY want an answer to that the right we have to not fund criminals is written right beneath the right women have to an abortion and the right that everyone has to healthcare.
@jburr36 ''the right we have to not fund criminals is written right beneath the right women have to an abortion and the right that everyone has to healthcare''
we have expenditures in the tune of 22 billion being incurred by Illegal aliens each year ,and the answer they came up with was.....to find out which people, excepting government assistance, are getting high..well if they can afford drugs then chances are they can also afford a piss cleaner...I know a quick way to put 22 billion back into the system..wanna take a guess at what that could be? I think we are all quite aware of who is getting over on the system here, and it's not drug users on welfare
as for sifting through human excrement to find out who's breaking a ridicules law,it is not only highly intrusive, it's out right psychotically controlling, and extremely manipulative,on any level, weather it be for a job or PO or yes even those who are in need of public assistance.DRUG TESTS ARE A WITCH HUNT."prescription" "medication" is OK though, because nobody wants to fuck with the pharmaceutical industries bread and butter.but those "medications" are far worse than any street drugs
first off your taxes DO NOT go toward ANY of the productive things you think they do, sadly ALL of the money goes directly into the pockets of international banking conglomerates, and all of our government spending comes from an endless line of credit issued by the FED, and all your precious tax dollars go toward paying off the interest...now ,I'm not even going to go into united states drug law because it's antiquated and unjust....
you keep your money, a couple cents that might be going to welfare drug use a year while some poor shmuck who doesn't even buy the shit fails a test for pot, loses his ability to provide for himself and his family... poverty rising like crazy... if thats fine with you than cool. keep the chump change and make sure you count every penny of it since it means that much to you.
Unfortunately, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled drug tests are considered a type of search, and therefore have to adhere to the 4th amendment of the U.S. Constitution... then again, the Supreme Court also allows welfare to exist, despite the fact welfare ITSELF is unconstitutional... Go back and read Article 1, Section 8 and see if you can find anything about federally-funded welfare programs (keeping in mind the "general welfare" clause has nothing to do with "social welfare.")
if i had a welfare check i would by a pund of weed but i'l stil work and have a job iv been blowin weed sence i was like 13 i cant help it i dont want to help it its just mrelaxes my mind and i can sit and play my videos games
So you think welfare recipients should take a drug test. OK, but only when they line up to pee in a cup right behind the politicians that passed this mean spirited law. Those guys are in powerful positions where they really can cause a lot of damage if they are using-- not the poor guy on the street corner smoking a little weed. It's easy to pick on the disadvantaged... but fair is fair. Don't forget that our tax dollars also pay for the politicians' salaries. Test them!
Best fucking idea ever, I grew up on welfare as a kid n most of my friends were also on it to n I noticed a lot of my friends parents did spend their welfare money on meth, crack etc etc instead of putting food on the table for their damn kids.
So you think that just because someone is down for a bit you all act like its money out of your pockets which is the most hilarious thing I've ever heard you don't pay taxes so lets see everyone spends a lot of money at one of the tax preparers to get out of paying taxes and then you act like your all holy-er than thou paying lets see uh nothing show me a tax return where any one of you idiots payed your share not so get off of your frigging high horse go make a mill and then I'll listen to you
@deuce212008 Lol why you getting mad?? It is our money!! It's not yours and you didn't work for it!! Ppl that work have to pay the government then it gets handed down to ppl on welfare.. Face the facts it is true.. And yes I do have a problem when ppl use the money on things that aren't needed(flat screens, cable, computers, drugs, etc).. My money is going to your wants NOT needs.. Ppl should get tested because I seen a girl spend her whole check on weed and alcohol but her kids were hungry..
I agree with you completely Kevin. Shit pisses me off that fucking lazy ass people sit at home all day and get high. That shit pisses me off man. These motherfuckers need to some motivation and this would be it.
I disagree, drug addiction is an illness, they should be helpt instead of making them poor, cuz they will just go out robbin and hustlin to get their fix.
@czaarr However it's their fault for getting that addiction, You have a 100% choice on weather or not you EVER do drugs PERIOD, You have the ability to stop, You have the ability to never start, How can you say they should give them money to support it? How?!?
Kevin is 100% correct....And let it be known that as a tax payer, Kevin has the right to say and demand these things...We all do...Its our money that we worked for..If we do not set the standards for ourselves, other less responsible people will do it for us...Like the Federal Gov for example...
I'm on WellFare, but I agree with you though, lots of peoples use it for drugs, to support they habit, or to just be plain lazy, sit at home not work only smoke, drink, party, and chill while they get free food. I know peoples like that in my family, thing is I can't agree with you more though..
@Cole1497 I got this laptop from school, I didn't pay anything for it, I just had to go throughout the year without a single tardy. And if you live in the Chicago area, you know that most of us get free internet if you sign-up for it.
BTW... Do you think they are going to test all the Rich White people abusing prescription drugs who work for the state like uuumm let's see Rick Scott ?
every state should require a drug test if your applying for sum type on aid welfare foot stamps. and the person applying SHOULD PAY for the drug test and not waste more tax dollars.
I totally agree with you! I don't want to support another man's habit either. It's already hard enough on a tax paying person, who has other priorities and responsibilities. So if my money if going to welfare folks, Please let it be someone who is in a true struggle; attempting to make positive moves!
Seeing that drug use or addiction in some cases is what is preventing these people from getting jobs, it should also be preventing them from receiving any type of welfare. Unless it be a welfare program of recovery from drug use (maybe). These people need to feel like they have run out of resources (employment, welfare etc) before they can possibly have a wake up call and realize to kick the drug use.
I had to take a drug test to get my job no matter what you make or spent on college.it still comes from our checks no i dont agree on buying drugs alcohol or thier gas yes the foreign owned stations around here trade link for gas.no take away some of those luxury's that me myself that work's cant have im hatin all the way.
@VixenHigh Every country waste's money on a lot of things people don't agree on. This would be one of those things if it is brought in, besides your taxes go to whatever your government want it to go simple as that.
i so agree with everything you said here! I am sure that most people who pay taxes don't want to hear about those individuals that then taking that money to go buy drugs. I say most because there are the weirdos who feel like the gov'ment shouldn't be checking up on people like this. Whatever! But, I do agree that before people start using these programs, they should be tested for drug use!
i bet they never mad your mother take a drug test to get her government check. that's stupid. so if u smoke weed your baby shouldnt eat?????? thats stupid! get over it you morther was a welfare whore her damn self kevin and you know it!
I live here in Florida and people here do use their welfare just to get drugs... it's bullshit. Especially when my family needs the money too... People here where I live, all they do is pop tons of pills, smoke crack, and sell crystal meth.
And the drug test should be random through out the year !
Ive always said this! I know OS MANY people who are on it and they doing all these drugs and booze. Its my god damn money They should be fuxcking tested low lifes!
ive been in the clink a few times one time a friend snuck me some weed, then another inmate dimed on me and they piss tested me the next day. i passed that muthafucker by shutting down my kidney. pissed straight water. bam! nothing, passing a drug test aint shit.
Well Rick Scott has stolen millions of Dollars and is doing it again...talk about money you didn't earn this whole drug test thing is a scam to steal money from the taxpayers . Oh but I guess that is Ok because he's a rich white republican. GEESH!
Drug testing is fine whatever the real issue is that Rick Scott is pocketing the money from the Drug test...He owns the company doing the testing "Solantic" at 25 bucks a pop 4 times a year for everybody on welfare thats alot of friggin money people ! it would be one thing if he put the money back into the state, but he's not not he's keeping it all for himself and that money comes from taxpayers! FOR FUCK SAKE'S WAKE UP A SMELL THE COFFEE HE IS A CROOK!!
@tayysongz Actually you don't get your money back when they say reimbursed they mean you will get a 25 dollar credit on your food stamps or a 25 dollar coupon to friggin walmart...Trust Me Rick Scott is not going to give anybody their money back. You know when they talk about " The Man" keeping you down they are talking to Rick Scott he is the scum of the earth...
@hdctdc Well, they've gotta buy the test kits from somewhere, unless you expect the state to build their own drug test kit factory. If he's ripping the state off so bad, why don't you go start a company and offer a lower bid?
@ronhollis Rick Scott owns "Solantic" the company doing the drug tests, they don't buy them they make them...so yes he has already built a "Drug Kit test Factory" He also owns a chain a Clinics and has already shut down all the free Clinics in Florida so they have to go their because I'm sure thats where DCF makes you go. Why don't you look up Rick Scott and his history before replying back?
@hdctdc Yes, but how much money will be SAVED, when the drug using bums who CAN work, aren't being handed their monthly welfare checks anymore? Will we save more than we shell out to Rick Scott? Time Will tell.
@hdctdc Nobody is forced to sign up to be a welfare slob. If they don't they won't have to be drug tested. If one chooses to be a social welfare parasite they need to prove that we the taxpayers are not going to subsidize an illegal behavior that will end up costing us 10s to hundreds of thousands of dollars of our money in related health care costs before they OD and DIE or hurt someone else. And the fact that the apllicants are reimbursed if they pass the test should make it a non issue.
@jburr36 ''we the taxpayers are not going to subsidize an illegal behavior that will end up costing us 10s to hundreds of thousands of dollars of our money in related health care costs before they OD and DIE or hurt someone else''
Really. So cutting them off welfare will solve their addiction.
also maybe if people stopped using drugs they could find a job and not have to be one welfare #justsaying...... it would make things easy for the kids and parents
Not a DAMN thing wrong with this. Privacy is one thing... but using money that you didn't earn to buy drugs is BULLSHIT... Thumbs up if you think Kevin is right about this issue!
Using money that you didn't earn to buy *anything* that you don't need to maintain a basic standard of living is bullshit, if we're going to test for drugs then we should also issue these people IDs which prohibit them from buying alchohol or cigarettes.
We may also want to prevent them from pulling more than a certain ammount of cash money and scan their debit for junk spending, however that may be too far, we should remember that they are still human beings, that stripping them of dignity can actually be counter productive to our intended aim of making them find a job. We want to make their life miserable enough that they have motivation to find work, but not so miserable that they won't get out of bed.
The Supreme Court ruled that a search occurs only when 1) a person expects privacy in the thing searched and 2) society believes that expectation is reasonable.
The majority of society believes that a drug dealer expecting privacy when it comes to their money is unreasonable.
@JRV95 why should an american citizen have to pee in a cup to receive benefits their entitled too? I work for a living and i think even drug using welfare recipients deserve to spend the money on what they want.
@Andyterranbase1 ok so you probably have a little shitty job at a call center anyways! however if your an educated person who struggled their way through college and paid a fortune for that degree. than you find a job that pays decent but your still in debt and a big chunk of that goes to the people who don't work and have 10 kids or are crack heads, and you think thats ok? your a loser and an idiot!
@IMKINDASHY611 For kids, I would spend any amount of money to allow them to eat because it is unfair for them to suffer due to their parent's ignorance.
I wouldn't mind if 1) I had money to give and 2) people weren't going off and destroying their (and their children's) lives with this destructive habit.
@Andyterranbase1 So in light of the current debt (14 trillion I believe) you think that the scarce amount of money gained from taxpayers should be given to people who are killing themselves when it could be given to those who might try to better themselves?
Alcoholism alone accounts for 500 million lost workdays each year and will continue to rise as these habits are permitted.
American citizens work for their money and they have a right to know where it goes. Their decision.
@JRV95 i work 12 hours a day in a factory and i have no problem giving money to people on welfare, it's there for a reason if they want to spend it on drugs, whatever.. They will just have to live on the street instead of a house, it doesn't bother me and it shouldn't bother you. Welfare isn't even a large part of the budget, social security and medicaid and medicare is where the problems are, it's a pain in the ass to qualify for welfare anyway.
@Andyterranbase1 And that's fine that you work 12 hours a day. But for MOST people who have the same schedule as you and MOST taxpayers, it is money out of their pocket that they think is given to people to buy food and clothes not drugs and other destructive behaviors.
It's human nature to want to help so it does bother me and it bothers most of society to have their hard-earned money spent on drugs when it could be given to those who won't kill themselves.
I couldn't agree with you more, I work at a grocery store that accepts food stamps. Sometimes it bothers me that people that don't work come through there and buy steak, lobster, and all kinds of expensive things that I can afford to eat, and part of my paycheck is taken for welfare each week. It really pisses me off when I see people sell their foodstamps for money.
There are people who are just plan lazy and don't need to be on welfare or food stamps f you have to working legs and arms get off your but and work don't be waiting on a check in the mail while you screw us tax people over we know when people are abusing the system.
Kevin the only problem I have with it is that Rick Scott ( The Gov. of FL) is charging people for it and he owns the company doing it. Rick Scott has already been in trouble for stealing from poor people before and he is using the money for his anti Obama campain...
They need to pass that law in NEw York ASAP....i see too many crack heads in the stores always taking cash off their welfare card to buy stupid shit...like blunts and drugs....its quite sad.....PASS THE LAW IN NEW YORK....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is it your business what drugs people take? I mean you wouldn't care that much if he spend a little bit of his money on aspirin or a beer. Wouldn't it be far more easier to let them safe all recites and show them before they can get another portion of their welfare? THat way they learn a bit about income and spendings and learn a bit of self responsibility instead of daddy government holding our hands all the way and saying what is right and what is wrong. We are free people, not children.
drug tests huh. hey how bout why fingerprint and eyescan the poor people too. dumb ass the only people on welfare that dont work are old people, disabled and people who get unemployement

So why don't you drug test all citizens who get your tax money for some benefit? Why just welfare recipients?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd because welfare recients are more likely to be abusing drugs. go spend a few days in a public housing building somewhere.

It doesn't violate the 4th amendment rights of anyone.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd This was only a government funded study, I quote the relevent conclusion --> "The results indicate that drug use is 50% more common in households with welfare recipients than in nonwelfare households.." w w w .ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10852365
And you said a judge stated it PROBABLY violated their 4th amendment rights? I'm sorry but probably doesn't make the cut. Excuse me but means testing is means testing. Nothing wrong with drug testing people voluntarily applying for welfare.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 That is an abstract. What the judge said was fine with the board after they changed their decision and decided to side with her. Michigan no longer drug tests ALL welfare recipients. Who exactly is going to be tested for drugs? The person who gets the check? Their children? Their other family members? The ex wife or husband who comes and visits them? First you said your state uses a drug conviction and now you say you want everyone drug tested. So which is it?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd As I said before. These fucks are voluntarily applying for welfare. They already have to meet certain financial and other requirements and PROVE that they meet these requirements before getting an approval from social services. Why don't you whine about that violating the 4th amendment rights? I think everyone in the household needs to be drug tested. Not only that I think the kids ought to be forced to maintain at least a C average in school or they lose the entitlement.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 ''PROVE that they meet these requirements''
Proof is also needed when you apply for a loan. That is not a violation of 4th amendment rights. You don't have to take a drug test to get a loan.
''I think everyone in the household needs to be drug tested''
Define ''household''.
''I think the kids ought to be forced to maintain at least a C average in school or they lose the entitlement''
That is also not constitutional.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Besides, My state already rejects people convicted of drug offences. That is an after the fact deal. I also want my state to test for drugs. It's not an either-or thing. I want both. I listed a study that shows 50% more people on welfare abuse drugs than those that are not on welfare. We as taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behavior of others. Furthermore I do not believe that welfare recipients have a right to force taxpayers to fund their criminal behavior.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 ''My state already rejects people convicted of drug offences''
Same rules as HUD. I have no problem with that. They get caught and convicted, they face the consequences. As long as they are told about it first.
The study you listed was an abstract, not a study. Get me the full text of the study.
''We as taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behavior of others''
And that right is written where?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Of course the government funded study I used as a source is an abstract. This comment section has a 500 character limit. I don't have to get you anything.
I stated, "We as taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behaviors of others"
You Replied, "And that right is written where?"
Are you that fucking stupid? Are you saying that the taxpayers have a right to fund criminals? That just proves you are an Obama Supporting Democrat Libtard. I rest my case. Pis off
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 An abstract isn't a valid source document. Interesting you can't tell me where that is written without attacking me. So where is it written?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd see my previous post.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd and I couldn't care less what you consider valid or not. You are saying that we taxpayers don't have a right to fund criminal behavior. But since you're so stuck on constitutional rights, where in the constitution does it say we have to pay welfare parasites a check every month. Funding one class at the expense of another class isn't constitutional according to your own posts as it isn't applied uniformally. That violates the 14th amendment regarding equal protections. ROTFL.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 It is a supreme court case. Goldberg v Kelley made welfare an entitlement. Look it up. Funny the decision used the 14th amendment to cite its case. A welfare recipient can't be cut off with out due process - a hearing.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd ROTFL! Does that case entitled the taxpayer to fund criminal drug abuse? Where in that opinion does it say that? Perhaps that due process would occur shortly after they are busted for drugs. Also if the recipient agrees to be drug tested as a condition for receiving welfare when applying then your points are moot. It's not an entitlement until they are deemed entitled to receive it. Otherwise every form of means testing is unconstitutional and the rich ought to be getting welfare
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 ''Does that case entitled the taxpayer to fund criminal drug abuse''
You haven't shown me where that law is. The burden of proof is on you. I showed you where you have to pay taxes.
The due process hearing occurs because of many reasons, paperwork not filed on time by the office, errors by the workers, lack of understanding of the laws by staff. ''Busted for drugs'' is not convicted for drugs. I could have oregano on me and get ''busted for drugs''.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 I already told you that you have to show personal papers to get a loan. That is not unconstitutional or considered illegal search and seizure without probable cause. So where is that law that says you have a right not to pay taxes if they are being used for criminal behavior?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Where in the law does it say I have to pay taxes if it is used for criminal behavior?
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Funny. I gave it to you. Show me where there is a law that says you don't have to pay taxes if they are used for criminal behavior.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd You show me where I ever said that I don't have to pay taxes anywhere. I said I do not want my taxpayer dollars to fund criminal behavior. Keep on. You're making a fool of yourself
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Okay where does it say the taxpayers have a right to say where your tax dollars go?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd When you pay taxes you can't stipulate that you don't want your money going to non-drug tested welfare recipients. Or can you? Where is the law to back your claim?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd I tell you where. At the polls every time we vote. Florida voters elected people who make the laws. And they made a law that states that those applying for welfare must take a drug test. Taxpayers pay for it all if the applicants pass. If you don't like it then too bad.
Now regarding the fact that you made up quotes from me I never posted then you tried to challenge me on it. TOTAL FAIL!!!! You are an idiot and a waste of time.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 So you're voting for dictators? Laws are not written in stone. Michigan passed a drug testing law and it was thrown out by a judge and then a panel. Happens all the time. Right at the moment the Florida law is being contested by the ACLU. Rick Scott's study shows that about 10% of welfare recipients abuse drugs. So test the 90% who are clean? Why? So his business can rake in the dollars? Oh I'm sorry, his wifes business - he transferred it to her.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 ''you made up quotes from me I never posted''
Which quotes did I make up?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd You stated I claimed I don't have to pay taxes then you challenged me on that assertion. You fail. I do not debate idiots who are not intellectually honest. I am blocking you. Bye.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Sorry I made a mistake. You pointed it out and I corrected it.
You're gonna lose this one. No state since Michigan has even attempted to pass a drug testing law to test 90% drug free applicants to get 10% who are using. They will eventually get arrested and convicted and then there will be probable cause to test them.
Your immaturity is irritating. Wah!!!!!!!!!!
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 That is most likely why Michigan has rules to cut off only the able bodied recipients and has exceptions for disabled, domestic violence victims, seniors etc.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd When I said ''cut off'', I meant the 48 month limit because of welfare reform.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 Here is another study from the same website:
Substance abuse and the course of welfare dependency
RESULTS: Among AFDC recipients, substance abuse was not a significant determinant of long welfare stays, repeat welfare use, or the total time a person remained on welfare during the 6-year period. However, substance abuse was a strong predictor of repeat welfare use among general assistance recipients.
So why aren't you whining about subsidizing general assistance recipients?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Who said I was ignoring General Assistance recipients. I demand that they drug test ANYONE receiving any kind of stipend, grant, allowance, benefit, voucher, or ANYTHING funded by the taxpayers. And I mean ANYONE! But in this thread we are talking about WELFARE parasites.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Tell me where in the 4th amendment or any part of the constitution that anyone has the right to force the government or the taxpayers to fund criminal behavior. That judge is full of shit and most of us out here know it.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Illegal search and seizure without probable cause.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Illegal search and seizure without probable cause does not apply when one is voluntarily applying for assistance. Do you realize how fucking stupid that argument is?
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 You are singling out one group of people who are receiving state money and not testing the other people receiving state money, like the Governor. He should present himself as a shining example and drug test himself don't you think?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd are you illiterate? If you read my other post I mentioned I wanted to drug test ANYONE who gets benefits from taxpayer funded programs. I mean ANYONE!
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 ''I mean ANYONE!''
So you are going to drug test babies and 4 year olds? How about disabled people who are bedridden or housebound?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Disabled Absolutely. There are druggies that are disabled too. Babies and 4 years olds do not apply for welfare but yes I say test them. I'm working on a case now where a 7 year old is testing positive for meth from the residue of her mother's meth habit. A baby died hours after it was born from a high level of morphine. It didn't even have the 1st feeding.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 So how is a welfare mother supposed to come up with 20 - 75 dollars for each person in her family including her children? Get real.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd 1st, if they pass the money it refunded. 2nd, the drug tests are up to $15 not $75. You are trying to embellish your arguments. FAIL!! If w welfare recipient is that broke then they ought to give their kids up for adoptions. They can come up with that money by cutting off the cable tv, the cell phones, the internet, the booze, the cigarettes.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Where are they supposed to come up with the money? So now if they can't come up with the money the state should take their children? Prove that ALL welfare recipients have those things. You can't
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Now it's the "ALL" or "NONE" argument. The more you nit pick an argument the more you lose the argument. You showed we pay taxes but you can't show where taxpayers must fund criminal drug abuse. You keep demanding I show you where the taxpayer has a right to not fund criminal behavior. I will when you prove that taxpayers DO have a right to fund criminal behavior. LOL
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 You haven't shown where you as a taxpayer have the right not to pay taxes if they are used in a criminal manner. You have to pay taxes so your argument is moot.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd So it's moot when lawmakers in Florida make a law that states welfare recipients must prove that they are not abusing drugs? LOLOLOLOLOL!!! There it is. Done...Gone..bye!!!!
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 A lot of people ''make laws'' and they are thrown out by the courts. This one will be too.
So it's exit stage left. You can't come up with the law that says that you don't have to pay taxes if the money is used for criminal behavior. Duck and run. LOL
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd LOL! Let it go to the USSC. It will be fun.
jburr36 6 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@jburr36 Oh I see, you said ''I don't want my taxayer dollars to fund criminal behavior''. So prove that ALL welfare recipients are involved in criminal behavior. You can't. That is why there is no probable cause to drug test them until they are caught and convicted of drug use or abuse.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 You are not going to stop drug abuse by drug testing welfare recipients. The study I showed you stated that they go on general relief after being cut off welfare. And many drug abusers are not on welfare.
I remember some child years ago being born without fingers because her mother drank tons of coffee. Caffeine toxity.
I knew a baby who was 12 pounds at birth and fat at 3 months because her mother ate chips and ice cream her whole pregnancy. It looked pale and unhealthy.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd So what you are saying is just because someone has problems with other subtances like coffee and chips that mitigates the problems associated with drugs? LOL! What it all boils down to is personal responsibility. We are not talking about every drug abuser aout there. We are talking about rejecting drug abusers trying to fund their disgusting addictions with taxpayer money.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 Yeah. That child was born without fingers and the second child was unhealthy. Obesity leads to diseases that children are not supposed to get like Diabetes. That costs you money too.
Okay so you have to prove in court that they used their welfare money to fund their drug habit. What if the drugs were given to them?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd Given to them? Illegal Drugs? LOL Arrest them and convict them. Where is their personal responsibility?
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 If they get arrested and convicted then I have no problem cutting them off welfare for a time as long as they were warned first. Same as the HUD section 8 and public housing rules - get caught with drugs you're out. But no drug testing.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36
Article. I - Section. 8.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd And you are STUPID enough to know not what they mean. You see the word 'Welfare' and interpret that into believing that the founders really meant to set up some socialist economy. ROTFL! The founders used the word 'Welfare' as a generalisation of the word "safety" and not communism or socialism. Funny how you libtards latch onto that interpretation at the same time trying to defund the military. That is unconstitutional.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 You asked me where the Constitution it said you have to pay taxes. There it is. No reference to whether the taxes go to criminal behavior or not.
You haven't posted yet where the Constitution says ''the taxpayers have a right to not subsidize the criminal behavior of others''. Where is it?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd ROTFL. You're arguing that we taxpayers don't have a right to not fund criminals. No need for further comment on that stupidity.
jburr36 6 months ago
@jburr36 No i am not arguing that taxpayers don't have a right to not fund criminals I asked you where that is written in law?
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jburr36 I never stated that the term ''welfare'' meant for our government to set up a socialist economy. That was your interpretation of my post. I merely showed you where it says you have to pay taxes. I doesn't say ''Welfare'' it says ''general Welfare''.
jfsfrnd 6 months ago
@jfsfrnd But if you REALLY want an answer to that the right we have to not fund criminals is written right beneath the right women have to an abortion and the right that everyone has to healthcare.

we have expenditures in the tune of 22 billion being incurred by Illegal aliens each year ,and the answer they came up with was.....to find out which people, excepting government assistance, are getting high..well if they can afford drugs then chances are they can also afford a piss cleaner...I know a quick way to put 22 billion back into the system..wanna take a guess at what that could be? I think we are all quite aware of who is getting over on the system here, and it's not drug users on welfare
captainwess 7 months ago
as for sifting through human excrement to find out who's breaking a ridicules law,it is not only highly intrusive, it's out right psychotically controlling, and extremely manipulative,on any level, weather it be for a job or PO or yes even those who are in need of public assistance.DRUG TESTS ARE A WITCH HUNT."prescription" "medication" is OK though, because nobody wants to fuck with the pharmaceutical industries bread and butter.but those "medications" are far worse than any street drugs
captainwess 7 months ago
first off your taxes DO NOT go toward ANY of the productive things you think they do, sadly ALL of the money goes directly into the pockets of international banking conglomerates, and all of our government spending comes from an endless line of credit issued by the FED, and all your precious tax dollars go toward paying off the interest...now ,I'm not even going to go into united states drug law because it's antiquated and unjust....
captainwess 7 months ago
you keep your money, a couple cents that might be going to welfare drug use a year while some poor shmuck who doesn't even buy the shit fails a test for pot, loses his ability to provide for himself and his family... poverty rising like crazy... if thats fine with you than cool. keep the chump change and make sure you count every penny of it since it means that much to you.

Test them!

@hdctdc Well, they've gotta buy the test kits from somewhere, unless you expect the state to build their own drug test kit factory. If he's ripping the state off so bad, why don't you go start a company and offer a lower bid?
ronhollis 8 months ago
@ronhollis Rick Scott owns "Solantic" the company doing the drug tests, they don't buy them they make them...so yes he has already built a "Drug Kit test Factory" He also owns a chain a Clinics and has already shut down all the free Clinics in Florida so they have to go their because I'm sure thats where DCF makes you go. Why don't you look up Rick Scott and his history before replying back?
hdctdc 8 months ago
@hdctdc Yes, but how much money will be SAVED, when the drug using bums who CAN work, aren't being handed their monthly welfare checks anymore? Will we save more than we shell out to Rick Scott? Time Will tell.
cbond99 8 months ago

IamMusic247 8 months ago
i really agree with this thank you kevin no one really talks about this and its a HUGE problem
IamMusic247 8 months ago
Not a DAMN thing wrong with this. Privacy is one thing... but using money that you didn't earn to buy drugs is BULLSHIT... Thumbs up if you think Kevin is right about this issue!
Bigirishjuggalo 8 months ago 39
@Bigirishjuggalo
Using money that you didn't earn to buy *anything* that you don't need to maintain a basic standard of living is bullshit, if we're going to test for drugs then we should also issue these people IDs which prohibit them from buying alchohol or cigarettes.
bradmanthethird 8 months ago
@bradmanthethird Completely agree!
Bigirishjuggalo 8 months ago
@Bigirishjuggalo

@Bigirishjuggalo I'll do ya one better. If you think it's a good idea, GIMME A HELL YEAH!!!

@Andyterranbase1 is it not unreasonable to want to know whether your money is fueling someone's drug habit or not?
dnguyen806 8 months ago
@Andyterranbase1 Depends on what the definition of "search" is.
The Supreme Court ruled that a search occurs only when 1) a person expects privacy in the thing searched and 2) society believes that expectation is reasonable.
The majority of society believes that a drug dealer expecting privacy when it comes to their money is unreasonable.
JRV95 8 months ago
@JRV95 why should an american citizen have to pee in a cup to receive benefits their entitled too? I work for a living and i think even drug using welfare recipients deserve to spend the money on what they want.
Andyterranbase1 8 months ago
@Andyterranbase1 ok so you probably have a little shitty job at a call center anyways! however if your an educated person who struggled their way through college and paid a fortune for that degree. than you find a job that pays decent but your still in debt and a big chunk of that goes to the people who don't work and have 10 kids or are crack heads, and you think thats ok? your a loser and an idiot!
IMKINDASHY611 8 months ago
@IMKINDASHY611 For kids, I would spend any amount of money to allow them to eat because it is unfair for them to suffer due to their parent's ignorance.
I wouldn't mind if 1) I had money to give and 2) people weren't going off and destroying their (and their children's) lives with this destructive habit.
JRV95 8 months ago
@Andyterranbase1 So in light of the current debt (14 trillion I believe) you think that the scarce amount of money gained from taxpayers should be given to people who are killing themselves when it could be given to those who might try to better themselves?
Alcoholism alone accounts for 500 million lost workdays each year and will continue to rise as these habits are permitted.
American citizens work for their money and they have a right to know where it goes. Their decision.
JRV95 8 months ago
@JRV95 i work 12 hours a day in a factory and i have no problem giving money to people on welfare, it's there for a reason if they want to spend it on drugs, whatever.. They will just have to live on the street instead of a house, it doesn't bother me and it shouldn't bother you. Welfare isn't even a large part of the budget, social security and medicaid and medicare is where the problems are, it's a pain in the ass to qualify for welfare anyway.
Andyterranbase1 8 months ago
@Andyterranbase1 And that's fine that you work 12 hours a day. But for MOST people who have the same schedule as you and MOST taxpayers, it is money out of their pocket that they think is given to people to buy food and clothes not drugs and other destructive behaviors.
It's human nature to want to help so it does bother me and it bothers most of society to have their hard-earned money spent on drugs when it could be given to those who won't kill themselves.

Unless the drugs are part of your welfare, then you should not be buying drugs while on welfare.

I couldn't agree with you more, I work at a grocery store that accepts food stamps. Sometimes it bothers me that people that don't work come through there and buy steak, lobster, and all kinds of expensive things that I can afford to eat, and part of my paycheck is taken for welfare each week. It really pisses me off when I see people sell their foodstamps for money.
pimpc1125 8 months ago
There are people who are just plan lazy and don't need to be on welfare or food stamps f you have to working legs and arms get off your but and work don't be waiting on a check in the mail while you screw us tax people over we know when people are abusing the system.

Kevin the only problem I have with it is that Rick Scott ( The Gov. of FL) is charging people for it and he owns the company doing it. Rick Scott has already been in trouble for stealing from poor people before and he is using the money for his anti Obama campain...
