@sabianrox1 the synth actually generates sounds through synthesis with waveforms, a vocoder is more so like an "effect" on those sounds or the human voice (where it's most commonly used). this is a synthesizer with vocoder, though most synths with vocoder abilities are usually just called vocoders.
If I had the money, I'd sell all of my digital equipment, and get all analog. Even an Otari 4 track. I can't explain it, but my subconscious mind really really likes the way analog sounds over digital. It'll take another 40 years before they can correctly imitate analog properly in a digital realm.
you mean if you have a microphone and you put with this kind of keyboard, you will be able to talk techno(robot voice)on that microphone from that keyboard?
This synth is amazing. Just listen to the Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis and listen to just how AMAZING this synth is! I want this synth. Can't find it anywhere. :(
Some synths ARE still analogue; Check out MFB, the Evolvers, etc. Also, you can still buy the olds ones, you know. The market is actually best now because so many people are happy with their MicroKorgs so we can buy up everything else.
Also, this is probably one my favorite synths ever. Vocode everything.
Both synths and vocoders are MUCH BETTER analog!!! Vocoders are BEST pure analog, while synths can also be all-analog or a combo. Synths are better with DCO's (digital-controlled oscillators) than VCO's (voltage-controlled oscillators) as DCO's are more steady and stable, while VCO's tend to drift in-and-out and cause the keyboard to go off-tune more often than a DCO keyboard would. Everything else is BETTER digital!!
I have to disagree with you on the DCO vs VCO. You're right that the DCO synths are more stable than VCO synths, but most DCO synths also sound thinner and inferior too the better VCO synths. No DCO synth I know has the powerful and warm sound of for instance a SCI Prophet 5 or a Roland Jupiter 8. The slight drifting of the oscillators actually might add to the fullness of the sound of the VCO synthesizers. And after a warm-up of about 30 minutes most VCO synths stay relative stable.
What about the Elka Synthex ? Perhaps an exception to the rule, one of the best polysynths ever, rated better than the Prophet 5, Memorymoog and OBXa by a lot of synth musicians. Its so warm and powerful that Keith Emerson used it as a replacement for his Yamaha GX1 for live sets for "Fanfare For The Comman Man". The Synthex has DCO's.
except for the oberheim matrix with it's DCO's, in my opinion that synth has a very warm analog sound. then again...it also might be the analog rest doing the job :)
The whole VCO stability thing is partly a myth. SOME VCO's are unstable, my P5 rev.3 detunes all the time, but the Korg MS series is basically as stable as the Roland Juno series from the instance you turn it on... the only detune issues I've ever had with the MS series has been due to human-error. As for everything else being better digital... Hehe you got to be kidding, you think digital gear beats a Tape-Echo or spring reverb?
Well, everyone seems to adore minimoogs. I think minimoog is just good for basses and special effects, with the help of a decent effect units. Moog leads are so poor and obvious. This one is so much better, so much richer. And it's polyphonic. By the way, square waves are ridiculous sounds for half intellingent mouse babies.
Aside from your comment being funny you know everything has it's place. We all know a mini moog is hardly "a desert island pic" cos it is quite 'specific' and therefore limited but don't insult Bob Moog's synthesis.
Tony Banks actually used this instrument for his Choir sound that many Genesis songs are famous for. It was used for that sound after he dumped the Mellotron and continued to use it until he got the EMU Emulator.
That's because Tony Banks used this for his famous choir sound after he got rid of the Melotron. He later replaced the VP330 with the EMu Emulator. This was used on the 3 sides live album.
now the melodie is it (The whole of Vangelis' 'Bladerunne) youwhere playing cuz if it is im trying t fid that ong in its original state u know like the real thing can u help me with that and really i was stunned when i heard what sounds ur making just amazing
It sounds very beautiful. I would just sit and play that for hours.

Found this video by accident.
Wonderful sounding and lovely looking synth.
The Casio CZ101 and the CZ1000 had very similar sounds as i remember.
My sister had a CZ101.
Wish i had effects units and a mixer to plug them into at the time, but i didn't know how because i was only 13yrs old in 1985.
