It should be noted that dumping or burning off fuel not only reduces strain on the gear and airframe and lessens the risk of a post-touchdown fire, but equally, if not more importantly lowers the stall speed -- and therefore the approach speed, landing speed, and runway requirements.

In the episode "attack over bagdad" an aircraft is hit by a surface to air missile (also by terrirosts) and lose all hydraulics so they land with only using the thrust :o wow

how come no one checked under the seat before take off. You would of thought it was part of a pre departure check for the cabin crew.Aren't the life jackets under there and they need checking.
