Havel's words ring even more clearly now about the EU. The EU is first an foremost about economics, but is made up of disparate cultures. The only way for the EU to succeed is for the cultures of its various nations to wither away into one common blob of culture. This I believe cannot succeed. Every culture, every nation has a right to self-determination, economically, politically, spiritually and culturally. You may have left us Mr. Havel, but we can still learn from you.
