I'm sorry I should've been a little more clear in my description. It was the sax group solo HERE between 4:06 & 4:36.
Actually in their version, there was no instruments at all in this space except for saxes and trombones, and the trombones cut the last note in their "filler" parts short so that when the saxes were playing, nobody else was playing.
Wait, I live down by Philadelphia Pa. I was just up at the camp for 2 weeks in the summer of 1980 and 6 weeks in the summer of 1981. I have the 1978 LP in terrible condition and I used to have the 1979 LP but it got warped beyond playability. I just remember hearing this song in the way I described. I don't live anywhere near Albany or have any contact with those who I camped with at that time 30 years ago. Sorry.
There was an album of the 1978 Eastern U.S. Music Camp doing this song from Bard College just outside Kingston NY under the direction of Thomas A. Brown of somewhere near Albany. I still have it but it's pretty scratched up.
They did the song about 30 beats or more per minute faster. When they got to the sax group solo it was a tiny bit sloppy, but the rest of the song was very upbeat and trombone solo was pretty good. Shame I can't upload it here.

What's with the bass player? Electric bass sounds weird on this song, and it doesn't even look like he's playing.
