@sincerelyoursincere Hi Ian. I used Adobe Premiere but it was not a special feature. I just moved the caption around as the object moved on the video. What Premiere does that it automatically moves the caption between these set position (key frames) so movement appears continous. But I am assuming it would work similarily in other editors as well which supports key frames for captions.
@feedthebear51 I think it will. If you go for catalogue-like photos not some impressionist snaps than I think it would. Especially of you have glass or silver surfaces you don't get one highlight, but a more even exposure.
@feedthebear51 When I use the ring light I want to take pictures that has no cast shadows to show the details. I usually use it to document my models where artistic value is not a preference. Flash photos are nice too, but that's not why you would use a ring light.
Thanks for sharing,, I order my ring lights from china ( ebay ) and just waiting for them to arrive and start working with the rings. I'll follow your tutorial. Nice work.
@RAMXC Honestly, I never ran on batteries, but I got the following comments on my Instructables: there will be around 1 hour on full intensity than slowly dim away. I was told that 8 AA batteries would give much better performance. Ring draw 100, 130 and 170 mA respectively (on 12 V).
@nobuoka401 The gas soldering iron was somewhere around £20 at Maplin. It was on sale when I bought it. I used electronic iron before, and I don't see much difference. It is nice not to carry the wire around. Otherwise it is the same as the electric. But do use soldering fluid as it makes it much easier and the end result is much nicer.
@magick93 Neat eh? I am using Adobe Premiere for video editing. There you can move text (any object for that matter) and specify its location at a given frame (keyframe). If you move give two different location at different times the program works out the transition automatically. The secret here is to specify high number of keyframes so the text appears to follow the object. It is quite time consuming because the movement of my hand is hardly linear. It was maybe a 15-20 min work per objects.
I was wondering if you could do the video again but slow it down x) Explain word by word on how to did this.

Why i like more the photos taken with a flash than your ring? Is it right?

Yes, AA batteries would give better performance, but I end up running them from adaptors all the time anyway.

9volt batteries and metal aren't a good combo, suggest plastic case.
