I have a Russia gp5 do you know how check if it has asbestos?

The schms was for noncoms, not snipers ya dork... Also, no cold war era gas mask had asbestos, it was illegal to use in gas masks after ww2 anyways... Get ur facts straight, what you think is asbestos is just activated carbon.

i've noticed there are two designs for the metal covers for the voice diaphragm: the onle like yours that kind of looks like a cheese grater, and another that is more smooth - like the one i just bid on from ebay.

There's no asbestos in the filters after 1945 and the Russians didn't use gas masks that much in WW2

i read on wiki that the OD green and "coffee can" gas mask canisters were made after WW so they don't have asbestos

ShMS-it's type of mask(not gas mask )

filter has type EO-16, and the type of gasmask is RSh-4 with ShMS )

As long as the seal is good it can protect you agenst NBC agents as long as it has a good filter

the filter on the schms is old and I wouldent think ha NBC protection
