Is it just me, or is Bruce perhaps trying to woo the Hollywood movers and shakers in the music industry by using his voice to emulate Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson. At a weird but exciting time for rock music, with so much to come in 1979 that got killed in 1980 with the demise of Top 40 and the focus on soft AC, this seems like a "I can hang with the hip" sort of set.
@joconnor6 I'm just more of a rocker though. But thank you for being respectful with your point of view. Most people are very vulgar and rude when they respond to people who don't think like they do.
Springsteen was never any better than on the "Darkness" tour. He became the Rock and Roll dream singer/guitarist on this tour and he hasn't looked back since!

Thanks for posting this... my favorite fast version will always be the album version (slow version aside), but this comes pretty close.

I prefer the Manfred Mann version. Mann's versions of Springsteen songs are ALWAYS better.

@roonlk disagree but it's a free world. i like the raw authenticity and passion in his versions.

@potato1493 I'm hoping that's a joke considering my last comment talked about people saying stuff exactly like that...

Yeah I think this version is one of the best quick versions of this song. I enjoy the slow version just the same.

Special rarity from the Darkness tour. Thanks for sharing with us. Great bootleg!!! Seven songs from that night ended up in Live 75/85.
