Oh, and btw, you're enthusiasm is totally whetting my appetite for comics! I even bought a couple of those cheap mystery packs of comics today! What single title would you recommend I start if I was to choose one right now? Bearing in mind that I don't want to have missed out on too much story of course...
well... in books wise - my favourite is casanova (as i've said a billion times) and you can get the trade paperback vol. 1 pretty cheap. i would especially recommend matt fraction's run on the immortal iron fist (1-16), there are 2 pretty cheap tbps for that so far. if you want a fantasticly fun book, with great artwork and original ideas - the umbrella academy!
now, as for comic series to jump on... hurm... well must have kick ass is out this week (collecting 1-3) and issue 4 was out last week
SI: Spider-Man is one of (if not the) crappiest SI crossovers in my opinion. Don't try to tie-in a Skrull invasion and the controversial One More Day Spidey universe. Not only does it not work in some places, but it's just lame like this issue shows.
Also, I think the whole "Anti-Venom" thing is ridiculous and cheesy, but that's just me. It's a shame too; I was just starting to kind of enjoy ASM again.
you are completely right on the first part. i didn't want to waste any time on it... it was god awful - and i don't often say that about comics. i ended up scan-reading the second half as i had almost lost the will to live, let alone pay attention!
i like anti-venom, and i'm interested where this arc is going. i'm gonna keep reading, because they are definately working to keep it going in that same (i.e. half decent) direction. plus, as i keep saying, i see this martin li dude going somewhere!
I'm not. It seems so predictible to me. Big new bad guy, doesn't know he's a bad guy. And when you think about it it's like a superpowered yin and yang thing goin on and to choose an Asian guy for that seems more than a bit racist. I just don't like any of the new guys at all minus Antivenom. The writers don't even know what they (the new characters) are about sometimes.
Mark Millar is really going some awesome stuff right now, Ive re-read Kick Ass about 10times already, Im buying OML in trade!
The variant Venom cover is so good, I re-read that issue again today and just stared at the cover for at least im gonna say the best part of 4 solid minutes!
Im glad I didnt buy the SI: ASM tie ins, it did look very bad, whatever thats means haha.
i really didn't want to waste my video time talking about si: spiderman... it was atrocious.
there's a super skrull with the powers of 6 of "spidey's worst enemies"... but i don't think it's the sinister 6. seriously, nothing happened. i'm definately not buying that again.
i've been reading my friends kick ass because i have no money! and i spend too much on comics as it is! the vol. 1 hardcover on amazon is under 10 quid so i'll be getting that when it comes out!
Very nice my friend.

so you can quickly catch up there!!!
uncanny x-men is also great at the moment, if you can find issue #501. invincible iron man rules too!
sadly, all my favourite series at the moment are all half way (or further) through their story arcs!
did you get alan moore's future shocks yet?
now that is amazing!!! 10x better than i expected, and already knew it was great!

Thanks! I think I'll go fetch Kick Ass as soon as I've finished reading Wanted...
Haven't got round to buying Future Shocks yet, but it's in the back of my mind...

Thanks iancontinence!
I was in Forbidden Planet today, and I successfully avoided the slightest temptation to buy Watchdogs for 99p! :)
Also, they had a Moore's complete D.R. and Quinch for £3, which I bought and am looking forward to!

About Li: if you look at BND he is also a new villian Mr. Negative.. pretty crappy
Anti-Venom gives me much hope though
