  • i'm dating myself, but back in the late-80's chris campbell (olympian) had a great 2 week intensive camp at cornell. it was hard and i couldn't wait til it was over. we had a staph infection breakout, but the highlight was when dan gable came and showed us some pins. i swear i learned habits (diet, meditation, peak training, journaling) there that i still practice today, and i'm 38. wrestling is an amazing sport and it definitely builds character. stay with it as long as you can.

  • I Did It 2011, 14 day PA. hardest thing i've ever done hands down. but worth every cent....

  • @swish1128 yea im on day 27 of the 28 day.

  • @1kproductions i will see u there im going to the 14 as well

  • What's the song that starts in the beginning and also finishes in the end? Sounds like Funeral for a Friend.

  • Comment removed

  • good vid. whats the song in the beginning?

  • I am signed up for the 14 day. I am a freshman right now, and will be a sophomore after going over the summer. I have only wrestled for one season. I didn't really push myself that hard. I was just wondering, how hard really is this camp? Cause idk if I can do it. Please wright back I need some feedback!

  • @1kproductions all depends on how much you love the sport.

  • @1kproductions HARD!!! i would only do it if your dedicated to the sport dont do it cause u feel like u shouild do it cause u want to kick ass next wrestling season and u love the sport and nothing can come in the way of it

  • @jdscooleo1 i think i met you and you told me that in oregon

  • @jdscooleo1 i think i met you and you told me that in oregon

  • I did the 28 day camp way back in 2000. The effects of those 28 days still resonate in my life and through the various things I've accomplished - athletically, academically, and professionally. The camp birthed a tenacity and work ethic that has permanently changed my life for the better - thanks JRob and the rest of the staff.

  • junior year record 38-7 --> went to 28 day jrob --> senior year record 43-3

  • @kev1nater both records are reallly good? haha how did u do at state if u made it there

  • @bmx4life2124 won 1st match and lost next 2 junior and senior year. i beat myself at state senior year. i was ranked 2nd heading into the tourney. anyways, my technique got ridiculously better after jrob. it's expensive, but if you're dedicated and you want to get better, jrob is the place to go for sure.

  • Do they do a camp like this in Canada?

  • does this camp offer any scholarships? i would love to go

  • I DID IT! 2010

  • When i was at camp the dorm we were at someone stole a pillow and nobody knew who did it so a couple of guys went to the store and bought one that looked like that and the coaches knew it wasent the real one but they let us off the hook because we tried good times

  • I think the last day before we where to finish, someone stole one of the coaches guitar from his room.Nobody fessed up to it,so we got red-flagged.That means we got to wrestle 3 hours straight, wheel barrow runs, suicides, live wrestling..just absolute madness. The funny thing is,is that coach who thought his guitar was stolen, forgot he put in the trunk of his car.Anyway..I can't say enough about how awesome it is to finish this camp and get that "I did it" shirt.

  • @littlefuzzer thanks for the memories!

  • @jrobinsoncamps No..thank you for giving me the foundation for becoming a D1 All American in college

  • @littlefuzzer wrrd i threw up every day!

  • I have to say this..I attended the J.Robinson camp in 1985 which was held at Edinboro University.Dave Dean,Dean Hall,Melvin Douglas,Charlie Heard,Ed Giese, where all there as great coaches. This is by far the single most character defining experience any young man could go through. There where 345 kids at the beginning, and only 167 finished.Kids where leaving left and right the first day.The Johnno run,30 minutes of bleachers with Melvin Douglas,Shark bait with Dave Dean and Dean Hall,a 16 mile run

  • what is the coaches name who is interviewed? because he reminds me a ton of my high school coach

  • @cardnial5200

you would have to be a little more specific? one of our coaches? or a coach of someone attending camp? at what time in the video?

  • @jrobinsoncamps the coach at 2:50 i think

  • im thinking about doing the 14 day penn next year. I will be on my high school wrestling team this year, so i will have some sort of experience and this summer i did some stuff with my coach to prepare me for the season. I was wondering if this camp would be good for me, im very willing to work hard and learn alot. Thanks

  • @oJEzUSxpwns contact our main office either via email or call us. we can help you out there.

  • oh Dam i miss Wrestling

  • Is the workout videos form Shaun T Insanity a good way to prepare for the conditioning for this camp? I'm also going to my school wrestling practices.

  • @manueat - we are not familiar with those videos. for the 10, 14, and 28 day intensive camps, we send out a pre-camp workout. it includes running, weight training, and some wrestling.

if you have any specific questions, please contact the main office and they can send you another copy.

  • @jrobinsoncamps the videos are max interval training. Everything in the videos are in the pre workout besides the wrestling

  • @manueat again, we are not familiar with them. what is on the pre-camp sheet is what you will need to be doing. if you feel that is what the videos offer, then they might be a good fit for you.

  • Someone missed the like button 4 times:)

  • do we need to bring blankets, sheets, etc? it doesnt say in the info paper

  • @galwrestles4fun you need to check your "camp information sheet". every camp is different. it is listed on the same page as your mailing address.

if you have more questions, please contact our camp office.

  • Hello i have a question. I am attending 14 day pa which begins on June 20th. I have a Spanish regents on June 22. which means i have to miss the first 2 days of camp in order to take my regent. Do you have any advise on what i should do.

  • @agbimson we have replied to your emails, please check your junk mail folder. you cannot miss the first 2 days of camp. please call us to change camps or cancel.

  • oh and is there a pool? at the mn camp

  • @galwrestles4fun yes, you will get in a pool at camp.

  • @jrobinsoncamps yaaayyy : )

  • 28 day in mn wooohh!!! i'm not sure why but instead of having a birthday party i got signed up for this lol

  • are any other girls signed up yet?

  • @galwrestles4fun you will have to contact our main office and ask sarah...you can email her at the general info account and she will be able to let you know. please specify what camp you are coming to.

  • I am looking to go to Freestyle and Greco Nationals this year. How much time will be spent doing freestyle and greco roman?

  • @gtur13 we work on folkstyle wrestling. not freestyle or greco.

  • I am looking to go to Freestyle and Greco Nationals this year. How much time will be spent doing freestyle and greco roman?

  • I've signed up for the MN 28-day, I have a question. I have decent endurance but I'm really lanky and can't lift too much weight, will I be able to succeed in this camp?

  • @Geometric805

yes...we work on all aspects of wrestling training. we will be lifting and doing conditioning work outs, but the main focus is still wrestling.

  • @Geometric805 Its all mental toughness buddy.

  • @Geometric805 So in short, absolutely you can succeed, it's more willpower than anything. Just stay positive and push push push. Speaking as someone who has been through military boot camp (navy) i did things i thought i'd NEVER be able to do, the same thing applies here, just stay mentally strong!

  • @Geometric805 - i'm not that strong either, just start light and work your way up, dont rush it though or you'll hurt yourself

  • lol this camp is crazzzzy!

  • what is the deadline for signing up for the oregon 14- day intensive camp? i appreciate you answering everyone's questions.

  • @dou

we take applications until camp is full. being that this camp is towards the end of the summer, i would say you would want to get your registration in before june. initially we just need the $300 deposit to hold your spot. after that you can make payments at any time and the remaining balance is due 3 weeks before camp begins.

  • Do you think if I do decide to go to this camp, that I will have a greater chance of going to state?

  • @253Jerk check out our testimonials page...here is an example:

"I'm writing this e-mail the day after I won the Massachusetts Division 1 State Tournament at 171 pounds. This past summer I attended the 14 day J Robinson Camp in Susanville, California and I can honestly say the main reason for me winning my state title was attending this camp. I had been to many camps and clinics before and I always thought I had pushed myself to be the best, but after completing your camp..."

  • @jrobinsoncamps Haha. I'm planning on going to the 14 day camp this summer in Oregon. Should be fun. :]

  • How much did you improve by going to jrob?

  • do you run a half a marothon or full marothon the last day? just woundering

  • @yodogpimp

the 'marathon' is a 9,12, or 15 mile run. you get to choose.

  • I've signed up for the 28 day camp. Where can I find the pre-camp workout to help get me in shape for camp?

  • @drummerhb1357

sign into your online jrob account. click on FAQ's on the left hand side and download your confirmation materials. these materials are currently incomplete, but they do include the 'pre camp workout'.

  • i signed up for the 28 day camp where is the list of stuff to pack?

  • this information is currently being finalized...

however, you will need to sign into your online account and click on FAQs on the left hand side (this is after you sign in). you will be able to download your entire packet here.

  • @jrobinsoncamps thanks so when do you think this info will be put up?

  • partial information is more than likely to be up by the end of the month. the University has not assigned us our dorm yet, so some of the information will be missing.

  • I'm going to the camp next summer. I've been wrestling for two years.

  • Hey what city is it in and what is the price like?

  • 28-DAY Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN - July 3-30, 2010

    $2395

    14-DAY Edinboro, PA - June 20-July 3, 2010

    $1295

    14-DAY Ashland OR - August 1-14, 2010

    $1295

    *Subject to change

    10-DAY Mason City, IA - June 10-19, 2010

    $899

  • is that per wrestler or per team for pricing

  • per wrestler. we do have group discounts for 4 or more wrestlers.

check out our website...all 2010 details are posted there, along with some other videos.

  • i've really been getting into wreslting the last 2 years. i've been doing off season mat clubs and joined my high school wrestling team. i love wrestling because it has got me in the greatest shape of my life. even though i'm limited on experience, will this camp still be right for me?

  • this depends on a couple of things. what goals you have for wrestling? how old are you? how long have you been wrestling? two years? or getting more involved the past two years?

if you are looking to get to the next level in wrestling, this camp would be for you. we have options of 10, 14, or 28 days...where the 10 or 14 day might be right up your alley.

i would recommend calling and speaking to someone here at our office (612.349.6585)...they will be able to help you.

  • id wait, youd go there and get torn to hell if your not a good wrestler

  • i still carry the j rob lanyard with so i cn always remember wat pain sacrifice and determination reaaly is this camp had helped me in so many ways not just in wrestling but in the real world

  • @Mariii2771

me too. i wear it every day to school

  • so say my son wants to go to the camp, and he makes it thru, but he dosen't have enough points, he dosent get a tee shirt that says "i did it" on it? im not saying he will slack off or anything but im just wondering

  • no he will not get it. i am a 2009 camper and i attended the 28 day camp this past summer and i did graduate and get the shirt, but many of my friends did not. you start out with 1000 points and you need 700 to get the shirt, but they never tell you how many point u have or lost so youll never know so u have to always go hard at every session

  • xbigtunax is correct. not everyone gets the 'I Did It' shirt...it is earned, not guaranteed.

  • alright thanks how do you earn points and how do you lose them? (also whats the e mail address for j rob)

  • you can earn points by having a positive attitude, working the hardest in your group for that session, etc. you lose points for just the opposite, slacking off, being late, etc.

youtube doesn't allow for us to post our website or email address, you will have to go to our site (jrobinsoncamps) and get it off of there.

  • what happens if you don't get enough points to graduate?

  • if you finish camp, you graduate. it is a matter of if you graduate with an "I Did It Shirt".

sort of like graduating with honors...not everyone gets the "I Did It" shirt.

  • um i was checking out the website and it says that your giving one shirt and the chance to earn 2 others can u explain what the other two shirts are and how you earn them.thankyou

  • sure!

intensive camp is based on a point system. each person starts with the full amount of points. you can earn points and you can lose points.

if you earn points (get a 'positive') you receive an "I'm Gonna Be Somebody" t-shirt. if you end camp with enough points to graduate, you receive the coveted "I Did It" t-shirt.

Everyone who attends camp, gets an Intensive Camp t-shirt.

any other questions, let us know, or email us, we can write more in an email than here (it is limited).

  • i would love to come to this camp how much is it

  • we have 10-day, 14-day, and 28-day camps.

check our website for dates, locations, and pricing!

  • i have a question...im sure this pushes you and makes you much tuffer but im wondering about the technique. i know theres alot of mat wrestling but how is the tech compared to other camps...thankyou

  • we have 2 on the mat sessions each day. one technique and one what we call 'hard practice'...in addition most nights also include review.

both of these practices improve upon your technique. each counselor and coach will teach and review different moves. with the quality of staff and format of camp, our technique is top notch.

  • I want to go sooo baldy!

  • do you guys teach how to cut weight at camp too?

  • we work on all aspects of wrestling...so yes, weight is definitely something we go over.

we do not allow weight cutting at camp, but teach you how to do it correctly.

  • what airport do u have shutles from for the pen. 14 day instensive camp?

  • Erie International Airport...the airport code is ERI.

  • when and where is this and how many sessions a day is there

  • we have 4 camps during the summer. 1 is 10-days (in Iowa), 2 are 14-days (in Pennsylvania and somewhere on the west coast still to be determined) and 1 is 28-days (in Minnesota).

there are 4 sessions each day. you can visit our website or email us with any questions.

  • any canadians come down?

  • we have campers from all over come...Europe, Asia, so yes, some canadians have attend our camps.

  • anyone know the irish song in the commercial on tv?

  • i am too, 125, wat weight are you? im gonna be 112 at the end of camp lmao

  • man i remeber doing this in 06 i was 16 when i did it wow the camp made me the wresaler i am today

  • shit i did this in 06 too! haha

  • i didnt the 2008 28 intensive camp at minnisota and it was by that greatest thing ive ever done

  • You should do a 2009 video. If you took any?

  • hardest best thing i have ever completed best lessons i have ever learned iy life

  • ha i did the 14 day in pennsylvania and it sucked so im doing the 28 day for the next two summers

  • Who is this?

  • I;m going the summer of 2010,and I'm soooooo excited, this is gonna be so sick

  • I completed Mr. Robinson's camp in 1986. I still hold what the camp taught me to be true. I believe the Jay Robinson is a great coach. I still have a white shirt in the bottom of my drawer that says I did it folded perfectly. So everyday I wake up and get dress. I remember Mr. Robinson's message.

  • best thing i ever did!!! forest city iowa. 2007

  • what's the song?

  • i noticed that they had video cameras taping us on the last red flag day and on the 15 mile run from the 28 day camp. just wondering what that video footage was for? and if we can see it somewhere.....

  • we are putting together some promo items for our website. not sure the timeline on them, but that is what it was for.

  • haha the 2nd kid interviwed is my friend I didnt expect to see him in this

  • 28 day

  • They should make a 2009 video!

    :)

  • I got the black hat!

  • Which camp? 28 day or 14?

  • 28 day

  • Im still sore from the marathon...

  • Are junior high wrestlers allowed to go to this camp?

  • yep. anywhere from starting 8th graders to seniors were at this years camp :] go for it this is more than worth it. i did it! 2009 28

  • You have to be 14-18

  • This was the hardest thing i have ever done. Physically and mentally. There were so many times that i thought I was gunna quit and go home early but I'm so happy that i finished the camp and got my I DID IT shirt. I made so many friends there that I already miss and I will never forget them. I wanna thank all of the staff. J Robinson, McGivern, the hard ass, enoch, Ben, saunders, sunny, I.D. manny, the trainers, and everyone else. You guys are awesome. i will miss you and thanks for everything.

  • Ahh, Crazy old man he was.

I looked at him and i thought

"Why is everyone saying he's good? He's old.."

Well, i saw him wrestle and then i knew why..

I was in running group 6: the slowest...and i was the 3rd lightest person out of everybody in camp:/ ha,

Well, im gonna miss all the coaches but i dont think ill miss the getting up at 630 and running or the hard drilling for forever or the 3 440's or any of that stuff.. aha.

    But like J says

Get up and train while your apponent is sleeping.

  • This video brings back alot of memorys.. Its soo true. This camp does change your life.. Not just to be a better wrestler, But to be a better person. This was deffinatly one of the hardest things ive done in my life, Physically AND mentally. I always thought "Oh, i cant do anymore, i gotta stop, im too tired" But then one coach or another was there, pushing me to do as much as i could. I was the only girl there, so i wasnt very hard to miss. 5:34 McGivern...
  • Who did you end up rooming with? I'm a girl too and I wanna try one of these camps...

  • Also, is Technique camp #1 the same as the second one

  • it is the same with a little bit different staff. schedule is the same, instruction is the same, just a different time.

  • I already signed up for the jay rob camp in minnesota. Can we also stick athletic tape on the back of our shirts and write our names on the athletic tape?

  • no...athletic tape will fall off.

  • what about headgear and knee pads? mine are pretty worn out and they dont sell any wrestling equipment where i live.

  • these are not required, but are recommended. we do have some knee pads in the camp store, but not headgear.

if you really need them, i would suggest ordering them and having them delivered to your dorm address.

  • just wondering how much soap and shampoo should we bring for 28 day intensive? also will there be meals served the first day of camp?

  • you will be showering about 4 times per day, so enough for that many showers.

dinner is served on the first day of camp.

  • what are the weight groups for the 28 day camp?

  • there aren't specific weight groups. all campers are weighed in on the first day of camp and then they are split up accordingly.

  • can we buy wrestling shoes at camp?

  • no. we have apparel and some equipment, but no shoes.

  • i am going to 28 day intensive, just wondering if we get a day of more rest than workouts and what can we do during our free time? is there a t.v. or something?

  • generally, you have sunday mornings off, otherwise it is 4 workouts each day. not a lot of resting.

in the lounge there is a tv and we provide some movies in the evening.

  • I know we run a timed mile sprint at the beginning of camp. Does this determine what running group we are placed in? Thank you in advance.

  • yes.

  • How old do you have to be to sign up and where is the camp located

  • intensive camps are in IA (10 days), PA (14 days), MN (28 days), OR (14 days).

all of the information can be found on our website.

  • hey j rob im a 7th grader going in to my 2nd year of wrestling im going to try to go to this camp once i have a job save almost every penny, what advice do you have to be a state or ncaa champion at this level how stroung and how fast should i be and what stuff should i be going to like camps and extra activdes i should do please reply see ya later

  • for intensive camp, after you sign up, you receive a 'pre camp work out'

this helps prepare so can be somewhat ready when you get to camp.

  • any past campers got any advice on some stuff to bring while were not training? to keep us entertained

  • do we have to bring a jump rope to camp because thats what it said in the confirmation materials?

  • yes. or you can buy one in our camp store, but you will need one.

  • this video brought back memories, this camp was definately to best. it's tougher than shit, but it's all worth it in the end. i was glad that i chose this camp over iowa's camp which was dan gable's at the time. i went to john smith's intensive camp in oklahoma state, and j's is still way better in my honest opinion.

  • hey so do we have to shower and wear clean clothes after every single workout(running/lifting/wrestling)? or only after the wrestling practices? just wondering so i can get an idea on how many shirts i should buy. thanks.

  • all. you will be going through about 4 sets each day.

  • i got my little card with my username for the web site but i dont kno my password? am i doing something wrong..please get back to me

  • no you are not doing anything wrong, since it is your first time logging on there is no set password, so now when you go to log in click "forgot my password" and enter your e mail address and they will send you a password to you e mail. after you log in you can change it. i had to do the same thing when i signed up last month.

  • thanks xbigunax!!

he is correct. if you are still having problems, email our main office or call us.

  • DO we get to pick our work out partners?

Or do they choose them by weight?

  • you get put into wrestling groups of about 25...pretty much just told to partner up when the time comes.

  • Alrightt,

Also, do we have to bring aswim suit, Cause my friend said we did...

  • you will be in a pool at some point.

  • is there more than one of these clinics?

    is there on in California?

  • we have a 3 day technique/takedown commuter camp in CA.

our closest intensive camp (14 days) will be held in southern oregon August 2-15.

  • where is the takedown camp?

  • all of our technique camps have a takedown camp that runs side-by-side with them.

visit our website and all of our dates and locations are listed there.
