Favorite band of all time. I own more albums by this group than any other. For me they never got old. They still sound as current now as they did 40 years ago.
@Faltzwig Actually, Ian wanted Glen out of the band and didn't have the guts to do it himself, so he had the group's manager do it for him (gee, what a "Stand Up" guy). Glen was informed just after the end of a US tour at an airport, waiting for a flight back home. He was pulled aside, told that Ian didn't want him in the band and was given flight tickets home on a different plane. He was never given a reason as to why he was canned. This is fact.
@Faltzwig I found an online interview with Cornick just recently and he discussed his dismissal from the group. Why would he lie about it? He certainly didn't come across as bitter nor does he bear any ill will towards his former bandmate. I tried to copy and paste the link to the inteview in this space but got an error message. Just go to the search engine and type in "Glenn Cornick interview". Once you get your results then click on "Attention Tull Fans-Glenn Cornick interview". It's there.
@Faltzwig Look, gang, I'm not hear to talk shit about Ian Anderson or argue with other people about rock and roll.........I'm too old for that shit and I say live and let live. If I offended any Anderson fans, then I sincerely apologize but I think it's only fair for others to read Cornick's side of the story. Hell, the Beatles did the same thing with Pete Best, although his talent was questionable whereas Cornick's bass playing was outstanding,........in my opinion anyway. Peace out.
@Beatleguy1961 Hey man, I wasn't taking anything personally; I just don't believe things unless I see them with my own eyes. I've had a look at the interview just now, although I'm a bit puzzled as to the reasoning behind it, and what Ian's and the manager's side of the story was as it doesn't seem to have much coverage whatsoever. Quite odd.
@Faltzwig Well, even Cornick admits that he was a bit of a partier, as opposed to the others, who apparently weren't as much. Perhaps that may have had a bit to do with it.. Who knows? Besides, Tull certainly didn't suffer as a result of his leaving and both members appeared to get on well during the taping of the '94 reunion of all living Tull members, past and present. You should check out Cornick's personal website, as it has great early photos and memorabilia of the band. Take care, guy.
Wuau!!!, es lo mejor de Jethro Tull, esta canción es la esencia de la banda, se siente toda la energía de su música genuina,... Eres un ejemplo a seguir IAN ANDERSON,... Saludos a todos los Fans de Jethro Tull,...
The cameraman didn't have any idea about the arrangement of the saong, he gets hung up staring at the drums while glen cornick is doing a solo
It must be Ian Anderson's mocking self-criticism, to have the quartet (string?) in formal evening dress walking away in gas masks - i.e., pew, that stinks!
Tull had a great sound back when they were a little 4-man band -
Back in the day classical musicians were extremely snobby about rock music, insisting that it was trashy and just a passing phase. Hence the classical musicians in gas masks.
Thanks, KC, that puts it in cultural context. Well, a lot of rock music was pretty simplistic back in the early days, one reason Tull was so great was the complexity of the sound - plus that British orientation, it went over hugely in the US of course - sort of like the British Invasion a decade before - hmm, was Anderson trying to prove something to the classical world with his complex song arrangements? Anyway, if not Classical Tull is classic for sure. - Cheers
So guitarists windmill and contort but Ian would raise his left leg and balance for control? That is the second time I've seen it today and all 1969-70. Fascinating and the sign of a powerful body also.
Johan Sebastian Bach would be thrilled if he heard this version of his masterpiece!Jethro Tull is one of the greatest bands ever. I saw them in Buffalo NY in the 70's and it was one of the best shows ever!
When i listened this song on LSD, i saw something like an overbearing, indistructible and ultra-powerful cosmic armony cleaning the universe with colour flows... colors that i haven't seen never before. And then i see a world full of peace of love. I was crying like a baby!

Glen Cornick=unbelievable at bass..... Sacking him the way they did made me dislike ian more than anything he did

@dukeblue1110 Ian was not the one who sacked Glen Cornick. It was Terry Ellis.

Dopo un po' la ripresa è totalmente sganciata dalla musica.
Il brano è straordinario, uno di quelli che rimangono stampati nella memoria di chi ama il rock progressivo
