If the South gave a shit about state's rights, dumb fuck, they would have welcomed new states rights to chose NOT to have slaves if they so desired.
That was Douglas position -- let the state's decide.
Guess who hated Douglas? The South. They hated him almost as much as they hated Lincoln.
