  • its a feed viewer...you know if you want to keep up to date on news or anything else. i think Intel will improve on the feed viewer..its only a concept so we will see if it moves any further.

    I'm sure the E-paper display is useful in its own way.

    Looking up information without drawing so much power. It only needs a TINY bit to change the display.

    Of course, I'm sure only a fraction of youtube knows what E-paper is.

  • Actually... sideshow isn't a waste on CPU and battery.

    Sideshow devices have their own processor and can run with the laptop off or asleep. That's the whole point: quick access to information without turning on the laptop. Your assumption was wrong; It is not just an external screen.

  • why is "sideshow" cool again? it's an external display on something i don't want an external display on. maybe it's just me, the metro laptop does look neat, but the e-ink screen is stupid. I don't want something crappy on something that is nice, makes no sense..eh...might just be me though.

  • I say when OLED screens get mass produced and they can make a ciruitboard just a small band, they can make a whole wristband the actual screen, the whole surface of the band, then sideshow could interface w/ your laptop via bluetooth and play the media in your laptop on your wristpad. that would be cool.

  • I got a better idea how about using a massive 17inch or so OLED screen on a thin bit of transparent plastic that would be an awesome laptop screen... although the transparency may degrade the viewing quality...
