Mattie was the same age as i am now when he died, 13. Yet, his wisdom and cognition were so much more advanced than any 13 year old i've ever met, including myself. Mattie was such a brave boy. He has got rare form of muscular dystrophy - yet he never seemed to feel sorry for himself. He just felt grateful for the fact that he could still enjoy life while all of us healthy people are so-called "depressed" about things as small as dust! That's a thing that most people couldn't do: to appreciate life!
I have to do a report on who my hero is, and I want to choose him. I started writing poetry because of him. I hope to get them published like him. He would be doing such wonderful things if he was still alive today but he accomplished what he wanted too.
