I perfectly agree that C. was "not really a good man either", but still I think there is no comparing him to the Pizarros.

Regardless, no degree of decency makes up for the destruction of a great cultural civilization. It wasn't just a group of people that died in that period of time, but a way of thinking and seeing the world.

@MyInterwebs, on the other hand, Moctezuma was really a weak regent, also, the Tlazaltecs first fought the Spanyards, but later joined them to defeat the Aztecs... You can't say those people were peaceful. In the end, it was a clash of human civilization, each with its flaws and benefits, only that one civilization had iron, guns and horses, and the other no immun defense against smallpox. I wonder what had happend the other way round, Aztecs in Europe.

If that had been the case I would still be sadden by the fact that the spanish empire was destroyed.
