Research Manuel Zelaya, who was the president of Honduras until June 2009. Then decide for yourself if you would have liked this guy as president. I tried looking for their constitution. I remember reading a translated version and it pretty much said that if anyone tries to modify this certain part of the constitution they are immediately put into prison. The idea is to prevent people from giving the president too much power (longer term limits) so yeah, its not America. Don't assume they have an impeachment process.

Some of these constitutions were written hastily during the 1980s, some even at the barrel of a gun such as the Salvadorian one. Some were written by the elites who actually had no political education. Central American constitutions are horribly written.

I tried looking for their constitution. I remember reading a translated version and it pretty much said that if anyone tries to modify this certain part of the constitution they are immediately put into prison. The idea is to prevent people from giving the president too much power (longer term limits) so yeah, its not America. Don't assume they have an impeachment process.

Some of these constitutions were written hastily during the 1980s, some even at the barrel of a gun such as the Salvadorian one. Some were written by the elites who actually had no political education. Central American constitutions are horribly written.

Excess and greed on both sides of the economic spectrum both white collar greed and blue collar hope. Bush invading Iraq and giving a tax cut to the rich 1% also played a factor. ey ..chico...how did he break the constitution.... (Zelaya really lost power when his Commander in General resigned because he wanted to use the millitary wrongfully for a referendum.. the honduran constitution has 4 laws that you may not change at alll..and if you do want to ammend....you put in the proposal so that it is pursued after your term...and if you actively pursuit the change on one of these 4 laws..then you AUTOMATICALLY loose your seat...and will be in trial for treason...

First off: Definitions matter
Coup d'etat: a sudden overthrow of a government by a usually small group of persons in or previously in positions of authority
Every source of news concerning this event including Honduran sources cites it as a "coup".
I refuse to argue semantics with you. You can call it a "benevolent transfer of the peoples' trusted authority" if you like, but regardless of how you spin it, or redefine it, it is STILL a coup.
