Why is it any different for the american settlers that deforested & cultivated most of the eastern US? Forests are routinely cleared to make room for new suburbs, shopping malls, highways, etc. to this day. This is THEIR land and have every right to work it as they please. At least by cultivating, their will still be CO2 absoption by crops..........whereas we cut down a forest to build a shopping a mall that creates CO2! You can't create the double standard and expect other nations to follow
